Info in this citation specifically explains what's going on with defense cuts:

"The cuts are due under the terms of last year’s debt deal, which set up the automatic “sequesters”

The bipartisan supercommittee failed to come up with replacements for the sequesters.

“The percentage cuts in this report, and the identification of exempt and non-exempt accounts, reflect the requirements of the laws that the administration is applying,” the report said. “With the single exception of military personnel accounts, the administration cannot choose which programs to exempt, or what percentage cuts to apply.”

So the WH "freely admits" it's spending cuts are in accordance with existing law and has given specifics, as opposed to R&R, who freely admit nothing and are not forthcoming with specifics on anything other than their obsessive compulsions to discredit Obama for ever step he takes.

I support not only the president's determination to oversee the expiration of Ws tax cuts, but also the dems determination to stare down the GOPs fiscal cliff bluff. I also support the cuts the WH "freely admitted" and their adherence to the SUPERCOMMITTEE'S determinations, since that is, for better or worse, the current law of the land.
