Question. If the foray on Bin Laden's compound

by the Navy Seals had not been successful, what do you think the Republicans would have been saying all along in their campaign ads?

Seals get the credit but not the blame. - O gets the blame but not the credit.

Just the typical GOP boilerplate hypocrisy we've all become so accustomed to would be my guess.

OBAMA ALWAYS TAKES THE CREDIT AND - NEVER THE BLAME

"Just the typical" Dems/libs "boilerplate hypocrisy we've all become so accustomed to would be my guess".

Too the libs bever watch anything other than their DNC talking points, otherwise, they would be INFORMED regularly that Obama did get credit for Obama from ALL repub/conservative anchors, stations and radio shows.

TOO BAD DEMS/LIBS ARE SO BRAINWASHED, FILLED WITH HATE, THEY CANNOT RECOGNIZE CREDICT GIVEN TO OBAMA ROUTINELY REGARDING BIN LADEN. Shows you the depth of dems/libs hate and the narrowness of their little twisted minds.

Sure OP, based on all other of her posts, put this thread up for the mere purpose of nurturing that hate.

Just answer the question. Would it have been OK - sm

for the Republicans to have used Obama's failure in their campaign ads? If so, then it is OK for Obama to use his success in his campaign ads. You cannot have it both ways.

Gives you a clear insight into the twisted liberal mind...No regard for Navy Seals and what they would have faced, no regard for their families or what they would have haved...ONLY WHAT OBAMA WOULD HAVE FACED.

That's like saying what if the moon is made out of cheese. It's a question that cannot be answered, because it hasn't happened and nobody is a mind reader.

The fact is the Navy Seals were successful. That should be the end of the story, not what if this or what if that, unless you're trying to get some hate and arguments stirred up.

This is what the Navy Seals are trained for. Obama gave the go ahead. That's it. He listened to what they said, made his best decision with the help of others input and said "yes". That was his participation. Whether they were successful or not has nothing to do with Obama. He wasn't there with them. He didn't march in successfully with them. The Navy Seals were successful in their job. They train their whole career for this. Whether a mission is successful or a failure it reflects on them and no one else.

I am proud of our Navy Seals and all the other military men and women. They did an excellent job.

Hypothetical, not reality - Conservative

Agree with you 100%. No way to answer this question because the premise posed contains no facts at all. I think it is far more honorable to give the military the respect and honor they deserve for what they do for all of us, without concern for their own lives, rather than play the parlor game of trying to stir up something that is not grounded in any truth. It takes a very special breed to train as the military does, under the conditions they do, and perform as they do. They are the ones that have my respect and gratitude.

rhe Navy Seals had died and Bin Laden had not been there, would you have blamed Obama for giving the go ahead? If Bush had given the go ahead for this kind of a successful operation would you have said it was unpatriotic to mention it in his re-election campaign?

Yes it IS impossible - let me restate for those who didn't understand - what if - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The Navy Seals THANK GOD did not die. The success or failure of a mission lies directly upon them and nobody else. Asking what if this or that happened is like asking what if the moon is made out of cheese or what if Hillary had become president or what if an earthquake happened and a building fell down or this or that. Since it didn't happen nobody knows what could have happened if it did. Bush did not give the go ahead for this mission so nobody can say what would have happened. The Seals did not fail so nobody can say they would know what would happen if they had failed. It is a nonsensical question that looks like it was posted for the purpose of getting republican-hate bashing going. I'm glad to see a lot of conservatives/independents are not falling for the bait.

Whether a military team who is trained their whole career for a mission like the one that went down whether it is a success or not is attributed to them and them alone. No president or congress person or lawyer or judge is marching in doing the mission with them, so it is ludicrous to make the statement that it is because of the president or a congressperson/lawyer/judge, etc that the credit goes all to them and *bleep* the Navy Seals.

Mr. O was briefed on this particular incident (and others). He has people who are qualified to give him their input as to what should or should not happen. He listens to their advice and makes a decision whether or not to go ahead with the mission or not. Then that's it. The Seals/military takes it from there and it something is a success or failure is now attributed to them. Unless that person is marching in in full gear carrying a loaded weapon you cannot say "because of Mr. O or Mr. Bush or Mr. Clinton the seals were sucessful (or failed). And nobody should be using this for any re-election campaign. That is totally despicable and a disgrace and dishonor to our brave fighting men and women.

Thank God for our brave fighting military men and women. If any military is reading this I want to thank you as a former United States Army soldier thank you for your service and patriotism. There are people in this country who are proud and gratefful for what you do for us. God Bless you all.

[ In Reply To ..]
Me thinks you assume much that you shouldn't. You don't know me or what my response would be to any situation until I state it here. Not going to play that game with any poster here. The only thing you got right is the word "no".

Bush was a failure (although I do have to say he his admin saved us from the Tyranny under the Clinton regime). But when raids were being done under his watch he had nothing to do with them. Like Obama, he listened to briefings, got input from people and gave the yay or nay to do a specific mission. Whether it was a success or failure had nothing to do with Bush and everything to do with the men and women trained to do their job.

I'm proud of our fighting men and women that make our country safe.

Obama had little to do with it - dimstar

Obama had always opposed all the policies that Bush and Cheney put into place that made the capture of kill of bin Laden possible. We knew where bin Laden was BECAUSE UBL's courier was at GTMO and was interrogated. From that we figured out where bin Laden was and when. Obama opposed GTMO and any information obtained from the prisoners who were captured combatants. For Obama to take credit now is pretty hypocritical but he figures most Americans have short memories. If Obama's policies ahd been followed, we would not have had the intel to go after UBL.

No one should be taking any credit or blame. - Zville MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Things went well - that's good for our country, but do you see anyone from the military touting what a good job they did? If things had gone badly, to go still would have been the right call to make. If you know anything about the military, you know that the way they look at things is that thier only goal is to go after the bad guy, no matter how it ends. If it ends well, they've done thier jobs and they move on. If it doesn't end well, they regroup, figure out what went wrong, and not let it happen again.

Yes, if things had gone wrong, the republicans most likely would have gone after Obama for making that call - at least the ones not familiar with the military. However, I think it's a mistake for either side to make this a political matter. I mean, face it, Obama had the easy job - even if things had gone badly, the worst that would have happened to him would be maybe losing his job.

Mitt consistently making carter snide asides - overlooking

[ In Reply To ..]
the fact that Carter tried to rescue hostages. HE is the one blamed for the failure of that mission. Come on right wing, get your story straight. Saw a navy SEAL on Today touting his SECOND book. When asked, he opined that the media attention over the Obama raid put SEALS in danger. Note, he was there prompting his second book about being a SEAL.

Okay, I said anyone that didn't understand the military would blame Obama. - Zville MT

[ In Reply To ..]
just like they blame Carter - at least he tried to do something! Carter's mistake was that he didn't try anything else after that. That's what the country wanted and what those in the military wanted - go after the bad guys. Can you imagine what the backlash would be if the country found out that we knew where bin laden was and did nothing?

Obama has every right to take some credit for getting bin laden. What he does not have the right to do is politicize it and try to make it sound like no one else would have made the same call - that's where he crossed the line. What he should be doing is saying things like Biden said (OMG, I agree with Biden!!) about how no matter how long it takes or where you're hiding, if you do something to our country, we're going to find you (paraphrasing). That appeals to everyone and doesn't demean anyone.

Didn't see the Navy SEAL, but what's wrong with writing a book about being one? Lots of career military folks have written books about thier time in the military.
because it is the truth - yok
[ In Reply To ..]
Mitt said he would NOT go into a sovereign country without their consent. Hillary said she would not. They said he was naive to suggest such an action. Obama made a courageous and daring call, it cannot be discounted no matter how hard his enemies try. As far as the SEAL, he was promoting his book about being a SEAL but opined that others bringing attention to the SEALs endangered them. Contradiction. If he is genuinely concerned about secrecy, he did not need to write 2 books about being one.

Yes, Romney and Hillary and Biden all said that. - Zville MT
[ In Reply To ..]
So what? They're not the president - they're not privy to the information he had. That still doesn't give Obama the right to turn the entire action into a political slam against everyone else. He should have just taken his bow, thanked the military for a job well done, and moved on - that would have gotten him a lot farther.

[ In Reply To ..]
What info he had is IRRELEVANT. They said they would not enter a country without permission. What is so difficult to understand about that? Obama took bold action where his opponent said he would not. As far as Obama not having the "right" to claim his accomplishment, says who? You have no special insight into what "might have gotten him a lot farther." You don't know that. I hereby grant him the "right" to present facts to the American public. You'll just have to live with it.

Okay, - Zville MT
[ In Reply To ..]
just don't be upset about the rest of us saying it's not right for him to do that and that by politicizing it, it diminishes the actual accomplishment. I DO know that if he had stuck to what I said in my previous post, I certainly would have had a little more respect for him, and that's saying something. You're right, I can't speak for everyone 'cause everyone's entitled to thier own opinions. This one's just mine.
you are certainly - entitled to your opinion
[ In Reply To ..]
I've never seen you say anything positive about him before, so I guess he did not lose much by his action. As far as the etiquette of the situation, the criticism comes from the same folks who applaud someone yelling "You lie!"during a SOU, so their offense seems contrived and disingenous to say the least.
