I saw an interview with Valerie Lucznikowski, whose nephew died in Tower II on 9/11. She is a member of Peaceful Tomorrows, an organization which according to their website was founded by family members of those killed on September 11th who have united to turn their grief into action for peace. On the death of Osama Bin Lade, she said she would have preferred that Bin Laden be captured, held, tried for war crimes and be made to face her accusers, though she supported the president in the military mission.

She said two things that I believe are relative to this article. The first was that the US is a nation of laws, and that is how we as a people are able to live together. At the end of the interview, she made it a point to extend her sympathy to grieiving families of all victims of terror across the globe, the families of American, Iraqi, Afghani and Pakistani soldiers and civilians who had died or suffered injuries as a result of the war on terror.

Regardless of the alleged or imagined intent of Pakistani diplomats behind this decision, I believe they are right to follow the letter of the law in this circumstance, that the article states has been in place since 2003. If the law states the countries of origin are authorized to determine the outcome, and if we expect to be seen as a nation of laws, then we should respect the laws that apply to this specific circumstance.

While Amal Ahmed al-Sadah may well have extremely valuable information to contribute to the fight against terror, it is doubtful she would be forthcoming with any of it had she been kidnapped or transferred to US custody after being shot in a raid that killed her husband and one of his sons. She should be allowed to heal physically, return to her country and grieve the loss of her husband. It is unfortunate that a 17-year-old Yemeni girl who was "gifted" in marriage to the world's most despised terrorist will at 27 now face months if not years in the role of political football between the US and Yemen. This is not the time for the US to push back on this issue. Diplomatic channels guided by the rule of international law is the way to go, IMO.

Thanks for posting. - My thoughts

I was thinking that if they had captured Bin laden and put him in prison, we would have been set up for our military men to be kidnapped, tortured, and used to get him back. It would have been a horrible situation. The place that held him would have been like a magnet for terrorism. There wouldn't have been a way to win in that situation I believe.

You have a point there. Hopefully, the powers that be - Backwards Typist

will abide by that. I just wish other countries would abide by the laws of our country. We're always the bad guys.

The Skin Rash That Refuses To DieApr 16, 2016
Anyone got good skin rash remedies?  I've had a rash on my left forearm for several YEARS.... it waxes and wanes, but is always dry and plaque-like.  Very similar to psoriasis, but my arthritis is osteo, not inflammatory, so I'm pretty sure it's just some form of eczema.  It's sometimes dry and scaly, sometimes weepy (especially when I scratch too much) and has become scarred as a result. I've tried everything:  Cortisone creams, dry skin creams, ant ...

On Bin Laden's Wives, What Should Happen To Them?May 07, 2011
