Please help me to understand

Please don't flame me--I am just really trying to understand how/why Donald Trump was elected. If you voted for him, was it just that you hated Clinton more? Did you like him or was he the lesser of 2 evils? My diehard Republican friend said she was not voting for Trump, she was voting for Mike Pence (which I didn't understand, either). Did Trump tap into something among us that I don't see?

Our own party went along with Obama and didn't represent us. He also stands up to the media.

The only good I see coming out of the Tiny Hands Mans' victory last night is that during the next 4 years America is going to realize it needs to completely overhaul the way it elects its leaders, because this year our system failed miserably.

I really did not like either candidate well, but knew I just could not take Hillary Clinton because she is a liar and had so many questionable issues. I did not like the way she treated poor Mrs. Smith, who only wanted to know how her son died in Benghazi.

I voted for Trump because Pence is my governor and I knew his record approving of most of what he did. I admire his faith in God and that he has no qualms about giving God credit.

I think that Congress and Mike Pence can help Donald Trump with the way he guides our country.

Now if we could get rid of Nancy Pelosi. Not happy another Democrat got Harry's seat. I had an aunt who lived in Nevada in Reno but I never knew if she was Democrat or Republican. Anyway, not so sure she would have like Harry Reid.

I hope we can now do things to strengthen our country and undo some of the madness caused by Obama, especially Obamacare.

I look forward to Obama leaving and Trump and Pence taking over.

Because he wanted to protect our borders, build up our military, and support our police, which is something that needs to be a given without being told. I am also from Indiana, and love Mike. We are not in debt, he was bringing us jobs, the 21st Century scholarship, and his faith in God and not afraid to tell about it, is what we hold true to here. If DJT is not running again in 4 years, Mike will make an amazing POTUS. I support him completely.

have someone in the white house who will be going into it not owing or being owned by anyone. I think many people feel the same way and the reason why he was elected. My son, who just voted in his first election by the way, will be entering the Air Force in a few months. There is no way I as a mother could trust Hillary with my son's life as commander in chief. She lied so easily to the mothers of the men who died in Bengazhi about a video and then claimed what difference does it make?

Look at the VA system. She had 30 plus years to fix it, instead she looked the other way. Donald Trump was the only one who talked about our veterans and I know if my son ever needs the system Donald will have fixed it.

Maybe I'm naive, but I would rather read comments from regular people on this board than listen to a political analyst to help me figure out Trump's appeal. You made sense.

Now for another naive statement: Is it possible for the political parties to come together? Our enemies love the divisiveness because it makes us weak. "A house divided against itself cannot stand" like Lincoln said. So many Republicans dislike Trump not to mention the Democrats. Again, is it naive of me to hope that people can put things behind them and support Trump?

Obama's message of "Hope and Change" didn't change anything about my life. I've lost my job to technology and globalism, my health care expenses are through the roof to where I'm afraid to get sick, despite having health insurance, but yet my main concern is supposed to be about transgender bathrooms?
