So successful is this sham that the signup deadline has been extended! HA!!

they can extend it until - the cows come home

i want no part of it--especially since i'm forced to pay for things that violate my religious/moral code.

What about freedom FROM religion? Where the h*** is that, anymore?

there IS freedom from religion - just don't have one

it cuts both ways--don't infringe on others' freedom OF religion.

read the constitution. it's there.

The deadline is only extended for those who are already in the process of buying insurance prior to March 31st. No big deal and certainly not an indicator of failure.

You may spin this however you like. - sm

Obamacare is here to stay because of the millions of people who lost their insurance and had to sign up for it because they had nowhere else to go. It is here to stay for the thousands who signed up for Medicaid (even though many of those will fall into and out of eligibility over the next years just as they have in the past). Sadly, the millions who were targeted for health insurance didn't care whether they had it in the past and won't care now, so they won't sign up. They don't care about a fine on their taxes - a lot of them don't even pay taxes - they only file to get money back from the government in the form of tax credits. Add to that the thousands of people who signed up and have yet to pay a premium (estimated to be 20% of signups). Insurance companies agree up to 50% of people who buy health insurance only pay for a few months and then let it lapse. Already hospitals are seeing people who signed up for Obamacare just so they could have surgery - they have 3 months of grace period after they pay the premium for one month before they are kicked back out of the program. Get in - get your surgery and get back out. "You have to pass it in order to know what's in it."
It cannot be repealed, but hopefully, the mandate that we all have to participate will be taken out of it and we can again go back to the policies/insurance companies that have treated us well in the past.

Go back to the policies/insurance companies - that hve treated us well in the past?

[ In Reply To ..]
Really? I know of none. I literally know not one person who has ever been happy with their insurance - UNLESS they never have had to use it. Literally.

You cannot assume that everyone who signs up for Obamacare is some kind of shyster in there to get their surgery and not pay premiums and disappear. Believe me, us poors are not that organized.

There are far more people who are glad to have insurance that is truly comprehensive and costs a lot less and who are good customers and pay their premiums and follow the rules.

Maybe if there are a lot of abuses they will simplify the law. I do not qualify for Obamacare because of the miserable grandfathered policy my MTSO provides, but my worry is that if I did qualify and the subsidies/premiums were based on last year's income, what if we make more this year than last year, will we have to pay some back? I believe we would.

That is messy and worrying, so I would like a simpler way of assessing premiums and some way where you don't end up owing if your income goes up.

You're not from Oregon then - Thousands of people - were happy here with their insurance

[ In Reply To ..]
Just because you have not heard of one doesn't mean they don't exist. As one of the casualties of this disaster that got thrown out of insurance, cannot even get on to sign up for insurance, was told the date to receive a subsidy was gone, then read in the news we could still get the subsidy, tried for weeks to get on and couldn't then told the time has gone. Massive lawsuits for the people who have stolen millions of dollars to set up a website only to find out they never did. I and thousands and thousands of other people thrown out of insurance WE WERE HAPPY with. Now we all have nothing.

So, yeah, we are hoping the mandate gets taken out so we can go back to the policies/insurance that treated us well.

When someone has insurance they seem to not care about those that don't. Don't care that we spend hours and hours for weeks trying to get through. But hey, who cares they got theirs.
Oregon needs to get it together. - nm

Gosh its so good to know - were happy with their insurance
[ In Reply To ..]
That all the dislikes are happy that people in my state are out of insurance.

Way to go.
Oh, please. I disliked because I disagree with - you, not because I like to see
[ In Reply To ..]
people uninsured.

My bad, I thought that part would be, well...

OBVIOUS.
What part did you disagree with? All I wrote was what was - happening in my state
[ In Reply To ..]
Is it you disagree that anyone is out of insurance? The proof is there. Literally thousands of people kicked out of their existing health plan.

Or do you disagree that the people who were supposed to create the website for our state pocketed the millions, but did nothing for the people.

All I'm saying is if you pull up news about our state you can read what is going on in our state (its a mess). Then you'll see that what I wrote is true, so there really is nothing to disagree with. Unless you just disagree with the truth/facts, which to me doesn't make sense, but okay I guess.

Now....on a side note there is a good thing out of this since I wrote. I love our governor. He's great. I did hear that because of all this that has happened to everyone they have extended the date that we can sign up and get a subsidy so I'm pretty jazzed about that. I'm not no spring chicken here so being thrown out of my health plan that worked for me was very disrupting to say the least. All I say is way to go Gov. Kitzhaber. Thank you for caring about us.

I was very happy with my insurance prior to this year. - wannie

[ In Reply To ..]
I used it frequently. Had a decent deductible, co-pay for office visits, prescription coverage, dental, vision coverage. Now my deductible is ridiculous. Have no co-pay until deductible is met, etc. So, now you know one who liked their insurance before and had to use it.
Is that because you got Obamacare? - or because your employer changed?
[ In Reply To ..]
I too have the same bad insurance you mention, due to my MTSO offering only that or an exorbitant premium one that covers more.

That is not because of Obamacare though. I wish I could get Obamacare, it would be much better for me.

If your insurance changed, was it because you changed jobs or your employer changed insurance or is the one you are talking about Obamacare?
I had to change insurance because my husband's insurance - wannie
[ In Reply To ..]
opted not to cover spouses who could get insurance through their own employers. I didn't quality for Obamacare because of my employer's insurance.
I wish they would give us a choice of - ACA or employer
[ In Reply To ..]
Because ACA is definitely better for most of us working for MTSOs.

But you can't really blame Obamacare for the crappy insurance you are forced to receive from your employer, that is the insurance company/employer's fault. Also, the fact that your husband's company stopped allowing spouses is not Obamacare's fault either. Again, those lovely insurance companies still trying to squeeze out exorbitant profits.

The sooner they stop the grandfathering of garbage policies and also allow everyone to choose whether they want employer based or Obamacare the better.
I wasn't blaming Obamacare at all, except for the fact - wannie
[ In Reply To ..]
that I was forced to take the yucky insurance my employer offered because, with that available, I didn't qualify for Obamacare. I'm completely aware that the choice to drop spousal insurance was a company thing. I was just making a statement that I WAS happy with my insurance in the past and that I DID use it regularly.
I take your point - I once had good coverage too
[ In Reply To ..]
But then my husband changed jobs and poof, it all went away.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all have access to good coverage with reasonable premiums without it being attached to someone's job?

I think the ACA is slowly edging us there. The insurance companies are slowly being dragged kicking and screaming from the nice money spinner they have had going for the past 10 years or so, basically a monopoly and they got to make the rules and lots of profits.

I think the day when we get to have a choice between employer based coverage (when it comes to MTSOs very poor options) and ACA coverage (much better for me with the subsidies) is the day Obamacare is a real success with most people with lower incomes.

That day can't come soon enough for me, but to go back to the old way, no thanks, you are always at the mercy of someone's insurance company/employer deciding to take something away or stop providing it completely and pretty much without many options.

They have to keep back pedaling and - sm

making changes to adapt to the failure in an effort to make it not look so bad, but that's not working either, sorry to say.

Judging Stimulus By Job Data Reveals SuccessFeb 17, 2010
Imagine if, one year ago, Congress had passed a stimulus bill that really worked. Let’s say this bill had started spending money within a matter of weeks and had rapidly helped the economy. Let’s also imagine it was large enough to have had a huge impact on jobs — employing something like two million people who would otherwise be unemployed right now. If that had happened, what would the economy look like today? Well, it would look almost exactly as it does now. Because thos ...

For the remainder of that month, illegal border crossings were steadily below 40 per day, officials said. Border patrols prevent dozens of crossings every day and catch migrants who make it into Hungary within the first fe ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. Local Fast Food Restaurant Paying $15.00. Success StoryOct 30, 2014
There has been a lot of discussion on this board about raising the minimum wage to $15.00 and I have been very vocal about being in favor of this. Just talk about cold weather hitting Florida and orange juice goes through the roof. So they will raise prices regardless. But my main reas ...
