This is my take on Obamacare for

Posted: Oct 3, 2013

So this is what I have learned.   After listening about the new health insurance, this is what I know. There are 3 levels of care/cost. They are trying to get the young people to join to keep the cost down for the older people. Well after listening to a question and answer discussion on line program coming out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital systems, it scared me greatly.

If all the young people join this program, it will not help the older people who live on a fixed income. Their cost will be no less than half their income for a month and this is the cheapest plan out there called the bronze level. What about their own bills and buying food?  How is this to help anyone, knowing that as you get older, the cost of insurance is going up no matter what.  Also stated that within 5 years or less, ALL Medicare programs will be DONE, so there will be no fall back for senior citizens. This also means that this Plan D for prescriptions is also done. Is this how Obamacare is to help us?

This is the extent of your research? - Seriously

You mention one question and answer discussion 'on line' - is that the extent of your research on the Affordable Health Care Act?

Do you even know if what you heard is fact versus opinion?

What the heck! Cos I can't say the you know what word - Seriously right back at ya!

[ In Reply To ..]
She wrote what she knows. You are trying to discredit her because you don't like what she has to say. What she wrote is a very important part of the healthcare. What if she listened to 100 questions. You expect her to write a discussion on all 100 questions?

What she wrote is fact. I KNOW! I've done extensive research on it. I HAVE TO. It's going to AFFECT ME. Just because you don't like what someone has to say and it proves that ACA is not as great as they are trying to pass it off to be does not mean someone hasn't done research. It means we have done our research. We know how this is going to affect us.

There are 3 levels of health care. there is not enough room on this site to write exact specifics on each one. What she wrote is EXACTLY the truth because I don't live anywhere close to her and what she wrote is the same thing out here. My rates are going from $300 to over $1000. I can give you the exact amount and if you require verification I'll go have the information notorized and fax you a copy of it signed by an attorney to prove that what I'm saying is correct.

On top of that I got a letter from my insurance company and they are no longer going to be providing health insurance because of ACA. Yeah, I can also have that letter notorized and signed by an attorney and faxed to you if you need proof.

So, I can tell you this:

1. I am pretty certain (99.999%) that is not the "extent" of her research on ACA.

2. She is not required to write every single thing she knows about it. She's talking about this one VERY IMPORTANT aspect of it.

3. It's a fact. You know how you know if something is a fact? Because you cross reference. Maybe you take everything word of mouth only from democrats and that is good enough for you, but since this will affect us we have to do more research than just accepting what the people who are trying to pass this off says.

Are you her mom? - just saying

and does the term "overkill" mean anything to you? As in your response was overkill, over the top, and actually pretty hostile?

Obamacare is complex - but before people panic, they really need to calmly separate fact from fiction from whatever hype the teaparty repubs and FAUX snooze is selling these days.
Are you saying the hospital systems in her area - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]
don't know what they're talking about? That's exactly what you're insinuating.

I would think that after 3 years, the health systems in this country would know what is going to happen with Obamacare. After all, they'l need to know all the answers before this kicks in...but with all the rules and regulations changing all the time, it's pretty hard.

There was a poll taken that said 76% are happy with the coverage they have now, and only 17% are not happy with their coverage. What does that tell me? It tells me that there are more unhappy people with Obamacare than there are with Obamacare.

Am I saying the hospital systems in her area don't know what they are talking about? And then you answered this question for me by saying, "that's exactly what you are insinuating"

What I was implying was that the poster is referring to ONE source for the information she posted that she is so upset about and I simply asked if that was the extent her research.

What I have found on this board and elsewhere is that people with an agenda (in this case to hate and fear obamacare for whatever reason) will pick and choose and hunt and peck for any and all NEGATIVE information they can find while purposefully avoiding true facts (whether positive or negative).

For me, I am really praying that what I hope is a godsend for me (no insurance) turns out to be that - and for MILLIONS of others who need it, too. The penalty for the first year or two is low, which allows people time to get insurance if they cannot do so by January 1, 2014.

Really people, the sky is not falling with regard to Obamacare. It's so past time to put partisanship in the trashcan where it belongs and support the effort to keep people with no insurance from dying in the streets. Not taking any bets on that happening, just sayin...

IF THE REPUBLICANS CAN DO BETTER, WE HAVE YET TO HEAR SUCH A PLAN.
There you go again - accusations

My reply was no where near over the top. It should have been worse with what that poster I replied to was insinuating.

Your assumptions is that I watch FOX news. Oh sweetie, you have no idea what I watch, don't watch, read or don't read. My post was not hostile, it was words of frustration. Not overkill either. I need to learn to be more strict in my responses to childish posters.

OC is not complex, its a disaster.

But hey, thanks for the "I know better than you" tude.

said that before PEOPLE panic....

I didn't single you out by name or otherwise. Apparently you miss certain details...
I agree. And I'd also be interested to know just WHO - Libby
[ In Reply To ..]
had the idea to include that kind of knowledge. I know that Obama really wanted a single payor program, but it was, as always, the Republicans who were against that idea.

I think the law is so complex because there were too many ideas that Obama compromised with the Republicans to include in the law.

All along, I had hoped that once we get all the crazy goofballs out of the house (and senate) and replace them with normal REASONABLE people who truly care about their fellow human beings and not what kind of personal deals they can male with lobbyists, etc.

It's been a long time (if ever) since the Republican have cared ANYTHING about the middle class on down.

And the hijinks and game playing of the house will once again promise to hit the middle class with a sledge hammer again. At least 800,000 people who work for the government are actually now SLAVES who are working with no pay (if the Republicans can survive public opinion), and if they can't pay their bills, the whole system is going to "trickle down" all over the world, all started because of Republican weirdness.

The only people who will be earning money will be the bankruptcy lawyers.
If you don't know or care what I watched then why - bring up Fox News or TP?
[ In Reply To ..]
So obviously you do think you know what I watch. And if you don't care, then why throw out an insult.

To tell you the truth, I don't watch Fox because I can't stand any of the programs. Same as CNN and MSNBC. The last time I watched some news program on TV was early 2012 and I cannot remember what it was. Used to love Keith Olberman, but he's gone.

Yes, there are 3 levels of care. I am a baby boomer and just researched my insurance costs through my state exchange before visiting this site. I have insurance through my employer, but I can get a decent affordable plan on my own if I need to. People on fixed incomes and low income families are eligible for discounted coverage and also receive tax breaks for their insurance, that is a fact and the cost is no where near half their income. I am afraid you are wrong about Medicare. I am sorry but that is a scare tactic coming out of Sioux Falls. For one thing, no one has a crystal ball to predict what will happen in 5 years; I would advise you to check your facts on that. I would also advise you not to rely on radio talk shows for your news. If the feds can't balance the budget, it's all a moot point anyway, "Obamacare" will never get off the ground (my opinion).

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare.
