Obama's new motto - "If you've got a business

Posted: Jul 18, 2012

Joining Jon Levitz (Sat. Night Live Obama supporter) -- "Pres. O, you know that Nobel Peace Prize you got? You didn't earn that.";

"Somebody else made that happen." - jip

[ In Reply To ..]
The pres. thinks we should just be lazy, let the govt. "take care" of us? Are you kidding me?

That is exactly what Obama said - Conservative

[ In Reply To ..]
No one ever "gave" me anything or "took care" of me. The business I built did not come from anyone or anything else besides my sweat and toil. Anybody that has built any reputable, legal business knows that you are putting in hours long after employees go home, you do without checks to pay their salaries/benefits if work is slow, you work holidays, weekends, whatever it takes.

Obama sounds like he is loosing the last little grip on reality he had. This speech shows you how completely out of touch with reality and how out of touch with the average American Obama is.

So I'm assuming you didn't go to - one of those crazy, radical

[ In Reply To ..]
lefty run, elitist public schools either?

No it's not. What he said was "we succeed because of - our individual initiative,

[ In Reply To ..]
but also because we do things together." As a matter of fact, Romney agrees with Obama. While falsely accusing the president of saying, "if you've got a business, you didn't build that," he made the following statements:

"There are a lot of people in government who help us and allow us to have an economy that works and allow entrepenuers and business leaders of various kinds to start businesses and create jobs. We all recognize that. That's an important thing....I know that you recognize that a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the banks, the investors. There's no question your mom and dad. Your school teachers. The people that provide roads, the fire, and the police. A lot of people help."

Not to worry. Obama won't be demanding any apologies.

Fox has floated another in a long line of dishonest attacks using their tiresome out-of-context gimmicks. The candidate is so desperate to change the tax return narrative, he's stooped to their level and picked up on it, and the flocks have followed suit.

The guy who's lost his grip on reality is the one who thinks he can run the entire course of his campaign while keeping his finances and policy specifics cloaked in secrecy.
Falsely acusing Pres. O of saying - what we all heard him say?

Come on, you're kidding, right???
Did MTs invent the internet? - Exact context below

I know it is hard to concentrate on 2 or 3 sentences as a whole when you are used to voice recognition (Or are they just trying to change the subject again from Romney's job offshoring and offshore tax shelters?)

if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
No. - That was Al Gore.

Love the comparison - Obama nothing but a slacker

Obama is such a jack __ SS, hard to narrow it down to 1 stupid comment. Sure that's Obama's way of priming the pump to go after more money from more people since "they didn't really earn it"....they only ones that are getting things handed to them are the 47% and the Obama socialist/communist followers milking the system for every dime. Just 'cos Commie Obammie got everything handed to him in his drug-hazed stupor, does not mean the rest of us have not worked for what we have and THEN ARE FORCED TO HAND OVER TO THIS DILL WEED. This goof has to GO!

Taken out of context. He was talking about...sm - VTMT

roads and bridges, infrastructure, that helps small businesses bring their product to market. Did you read the entire speech or just the sound bites? We talked about this below. I understand the concept of "no man is an island" and every successful person has had a helping hand in some way to achieve success. I am a former small business owner, not MTSO, and not ignorant of what it takes to run a small business. I needed customers, employees, suppliers, UPS, highways, sales reps, loans, my bank, the internet, telephone lines, etc. That is all president Obama was saying. We need to invest in our country's infrastructure in order to support businesses and help them to be successful. We are all dependent on one another.

Funny you should say - it was taken out of context.

[ In Reply To ..]
That's the #1 liberal talking point they're parroting on the news right now. It's like the left huddled together, came up with a game plan to do damage control, and they're all claiming, "It was taken out of context." No, it wasn't.

Here's the dif, Liberals tell the truth, conservatives don't - nm

LOL, almost fainted on that one, where's a paralegal - when you need one?

LOL.

Not saying infrastructure is not important, - but I'm curious

How was it businesses got started and were succssful before there were roads and bridges built by the government. I realize this was a long time ago, but it seems to me that we had to have cars before we had roads - did Henry Ford need the government to help start his business? Sure, the roads made his business in the long-run, but the roads only came along because so many people had cars. This is just one, but there were a lot of other businesses that managed quite well without the help of the government - at all.

Oh my, horse and buggy, steam locomotive, bicycle, combustion engine - Yikes

[ In Reply To ..]
How did Henry Ford "invent" the auto? Even ol' Henry went to school and got some work experience.
Oh my, horse and buggy, etc. - Liberty
[ In Reply To ..]
I think what we are trying to say is that businesses can exist without government, but the government cannot exist without businesses...you know, taxes!

Thank you.
Exactly - thank you! - That was exactly
[ In Reply To ..]
what I was trying to say.
What part about "doing things together" do you not get? - Simple Simon
[ In Reply To ..]
Doing things together does not mean only government, it means society and community.

Now, lets talk about Romney's profits from decimating US workers pensions and jobs.

I heard he's trying to wean himself - off his teleprompter...

...and having a hard time of it. Words are slipping out that he's tried hard to hide from us about his real feelings toward America.

Obama Agency Rules Pepsi's Use Of Aborted Fetal Cells In Soft Drinks - Business As UsualMay 08, 2012
I heard about the story of smuggled capsules of human flesh made in you know where.  As if finding out they eat eggs cooked in urine of small boys was not enough to make me gag.  So, then found that Pepsi uses fetal cells as a flavor enhancer (at least that's my understanding of the article - could be wrong of course).  Then I read that Obama's administration said it's okay to use aborted fetus in Pepsi.  Again, maybe I read that wrong.  Either way, never ...

How Do You Allow Your Dog To Do Their Business?Feb 16, 2010
So to those who do own dogs, do you walk them, tie them to a tree/lead or just let them wander around the yard (hopefully a fenced yard) on their own? While I was growing up, we raised 3 dogs and all lived to be from 14-17 yo. They were always walked several times a day no matter what the weather was. Never did we have them outside in a yard, nor did we have them tied to a tree or anything else. To my parents, tying them up and allowing them be alone outside was just unthinkable. In two weeks, ...

Regulations And BusinessOct 24, 2012
I saw some comments on the board recently about the strangulation of business through regulation.  It's a subject I've always been fascinated by because of its vast complexity, politicization and above all a complete lack of named regulations.  It's so rare that any politician right or left ever names an individual regulation they don't like.  They are always referred to in bulk: "Those darn regulations are killing American jobs."  Certainly some are point ...

How Much Does A Business Have To Make Before It Does Not Have To Pay TaxesApr 05, 2011
We've been asking the wrong question. My family has a business. We hire people, so according to the current standards, we should not have to pay taxes. We are creating jobs. However, we have not yet reached that magic number. It's  higher than most of you think. You have to make more than a million a year, much more than that probably, before you get to stop paying taxes. Before you get to that point, you get to save money in other ways. I paid cash for my house. I pay cash for ...

Trump Bad For Local BusinessFeb 20, 2017
For some of the businesses and government agencies that surround President Trump’s “Winter White House,” the effects of his frequent weekend getaways to Mar-a-Lago can best be told in numbers. $200,000 in lost fuel sales at a large local airport in a single four-day visit this month. 75 no-shows at a new restaurant in just one night. $60,000 a day to pay overtime to sheriff’s deputies who guard the many closed roads, a tab that is about $1.5 million over all ...
