Obama agency rules Pepsi's use of aborted fetal cells in soft drinks - business as usual

Posted: May 8, 2012

I heard about the story of smuggled capsules of human flesh made in you know where.  As if finding out they eat eggs cooked in urine of small boys was not enough to make me gag.  So, then found that Pepsi uses fetal cells as a flavor enhancer (at least that's my understanding of the article - could be wrong of course).  Then I read that Obama's administration said it's okay to use aborted fetus in Pepsi.  Again, maybe I read that wrong.  Either way, never drinking Pepsi again and as for the people who thinks its okay to add fetus to soft drinks for flavoring.  Well what does that tell you about putting the best interest of the people above everything else.  Either way, eye opening article.

If you think you maybe - "read it wrong"

why are you presenting it as gospel in your title? Just for the shock/antiObama factor? Do a little google search for the truth.

Good point. I couldn't agree more, but at least - sm

this shows the lengths the Republicans will go to in order to further deny freedom of religion, as well as most other personal decisions/rights. All they care about is money, and they're probably afraid that if people could make their own decisions, they wouldn't be able to force Republicanism down the throats of every person in this country once he/she is dead.

Where do you read presenting it as gospel - Title was the tile of the article -

It is an article. Get a grip!

I LOVE Pepsi. See message. - sm

Well, the Republicans are feigning horror and contempt when it comes to human embryo usage, in general, but they become increasingly angry when someone (who may not share another's religious belief) wants to help people who need stem cells in order to continue BREATHING.

I think each patient should express, while doing intake work on the patient, his/her wish to use whether or not his/her cells and who is also DEAD to bequeath his/her bodily cells, organs, etc. in order to save someone else's life. As a matter of fact, I already have made arrangements to donate my whole body to researchers so that maybe my dead body can help someone whose vitality and life span might continue to increase with my help. The agency I'm dealing with will study whatever parts of or my entire body and then will cremate me at no cost and then return my ashes to my family. These are MY own personal wishes, and given the "tolerance" shown by the right, I need extra help keeping the vultures away from my body (particularly changing my religion AGAINST my own private views).

Hospitals are required to honor living wills, and I would suggest that that's what people should do rather than screaming and whining about embryonic stem cells/other stem cells: Just stay away from Republicans and/or those who would ride roughshod over my (and other) rights, quietly fill out the paperwork so that when the time comes, those who would seek to limit MY spiritual views, do NOT have the power to rip the wishes of the dead (like Romney's Mormons post death when they take over the "being" of someone who is dead and who followed a different faith) and convert that person to Mormonism). If you're interested in this, I'd suggest that you pursue this ASAP, before the Repugs realize there are places like THIS available to people who believe in THEIR OWN religion, and when grandma and grandpa say they don't want ventilators, etc., can guarantee that the deceased person's values and wishes be respected.

OMG - read the first sentence. Said it all - didn't read any further

I would say if you want to be taken seriously then I wouldn't be starting with a slam on republicans. Then quickly glanced at the first sentence of each paragraph and it just went off into outer space. Sorry, had to come home to earth now. Maybe I can find some posts that will stick to the subject matter that is being discussed.

Pepsi is doing human embryonic research. The OP discussed - stem cell research and

[ In Reply To ..]
prevailing partisan viewpoints on this subject...exactly what came to my mind when I read the article. IMO, that makes it relevant to the subject at hand.

The OP spoke in broader terms of the potential benefits of stem cell research and APPRORIATELY commented GOP opposition to it which, for the most part, derives from religious beliefs. Arising from those beliefs are proposed policies that would essentially banish this important area of study from medicine permanently and reduce these vastly promising scentific inquiries down to a one-dimensional affront to personal religious convictions which the GOP feels compelled to reject.

The OP went on to beautifully illustrate how important this is to her personally and how seriously she (and others) take this issue, to which she has evidently given a great deal of thought. She proposed voluntary participation and consent via advanced directives and pointed out that this is really nobody else's business beyond the person and their immediate family. I, along with many others, agree with her on that.

Your post, on the other hand, revealed that you didn't even read the post on which you were commenting, talked about outer space and coming back down to earth and never once mentioned the subject of the thread. BTW, if you want to be taken seriously, next time try to at least read the post before posting a huffy reply.

If you want to take issue with somebody, slam Pepsi's perverse profit-driven corporate application of human embryonic research to selling more soda pop than their competitors by infusing their beverages with God knows what kind of chemical enhancers.

Corporations are people too - why pick on poor Pepsi

[ In Reply To ..]
They are just trying to create jobs and make $$ for their shareholders. Leave Pepsi ALONE. Less regulation is the answer. From my reading, this has been going on since 1972, so to blame Obama for a situation that reaches back 30 years is, as always, ridiculous.

fetal cells dont bother me good protein - its all

Pepsi is adding aborted fetal cels into their soda and people are okay with that? What is wrong with people. Don't they care about what they are putting in their bodies. This should be a clear warning sign to people. Not because Obama okayed it, but you just don't do that to people's food. If they are adding dead humans what else are they adding and not telling us. Cow bowels or dead people genitals. My god people, this is your food. Do you really not care what your food is made out of. But then reading the responses since Obama okayed it they are fine with it. Know what their responses would be if Bush or Romney or any other republican gave the okay to put dead babies in their food. This so reminds me of that famous movie Soylent Green, which actually was written because they saw what could happen in the future. Funny how it's coming true.

"Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people."

pepsi is not adding aborted fetal cells to soda - for goodness sake

is a closely guarded secret recipe. Do you want the government stickin its snout into KFC and telling them they must reveal their recipe? How bout the Secret Sauce at MickeyD? Government has no bidness getting into recipes. The stuff that goes into food has to be approved already by FHA so it is not going to kill you. It makes it taste good. Did you ever think maybe the whole story is just to scare you until allowing more restrictive laws? If all the recipes released we would all be whippin up our own onion blossums and the restaurants would go out of bidness and people would be workless. Stay out government of my favorite carbonated beverge.

it's not about a recipe (!) fetuses are not in soda - don't confuse the issue

yes it is - made up of atoms and

nuclears just like everything else. If we ban all ingredients with atms and nuclears we would starve to death. The atoms in the billygoat are same as atoms in cows. Government should not be in what makes something up if it has already been federally approved.
