The price structure has been published online and every Californian is getting mail on where to look online for the exchange or where to get help to have it explained. Its SO SIMPLE. Blue Cross and Blue Shield are in the game and from what I priced, I can get the exact same coverage for what will likely be half the price after the subsidy kicks in. I'm below the 40K income line so the government matched funds will pay for part of mine. I do no paperwork. It is paid directly to the insurance company. It is going to make my IC job feel 10,000 times more secure.
For the "silver" plan, I would pay about $300 a month (before subsidy), and - I expect to pay 2/3 of that after subsidy. sm

I used to live in California. Now I'm in Georgia, "insured" - through work, STILL cannot afford healthcare.
[ In Reply To ..]As an MT, the same years that my income dropped like a ball bouncing down stairs. my insurance premiums rose by double digits EACH year. Now, my income's a third what it used to be and my employer provides a take-it-or-leave-it policy with a $2500 deductible to meet before it pays out its first dollar.
After that, coinsurance and "usual and customary" deductions would continue to apply, not that my insurance has paid out that first dollar in the past 4 years.
The coverages under this Blue Cross/Blue Shield policy provided are appropriate for those of my new socioeconomic class, too. Forget the better hospitals, good specialists, and half the new procedures and treatments now available. I work on hospitals that serve different populations and understand perfectly well that the best of modern healthcare is not for the likes of me.
Oh, yes, like so many here, I feel REAL sorry for you poor deluded Californians who STILL don't understand how bad you have it. :)

I live in one of the 3 or 4 most conservative counties in the entire nation, and every person here who can't get healthcare or is swimming under a pile of medical bills they'll never pay off in their lifetimes figured out long ago that it's ALL the Democrats' fault.
