Puke - I think not. That man was fired for good reason - He broke the rules established by MSNBC

[ In Reply To ..]
He used his position to try and persuade people to vote for the candidates he sent money to and had on his show. Olderman is nothing but hate spewing and fear-mongering (amongst a few other words).

Oh sure I heard RM start to talk tonight about why he was not on the show tonight, and threw out the "double-standards" word. Oh please RM, don't even treat the audience like they are stupid. Playing that card is not going to work. People don't get fired for no reason. I give my congrats to MSNBC for doing the right thing.

There is nothing informative or good about his show, and MSNBC needs to bring in some new people to get their ratings up. If all you are into is hatred and fear mongering and foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog when the mention of a republicans name comes up then I guess yes he's good for some comedy for the insane, but as for him being fired I say good riddens. First time in 2 years I was able to watch the show tonight without my head exploding. I don't know the name of the guy who was on tonight but I liked him. Oldermans rabid rants was getting old.

I hope he moves on to maybe NPR. He would do well there because they are all full of hate and loathing there too and they cannot tolerate anyone with a difference of opinion, so coming from MSNBC he should fit in really well.

It doesn't matter. What he did was wrong - He broke the rules established by MSNBC

[ In Reply To ..]
Everything people accuse Fox of doing MSNBC does it on their side. Except they don't donate $2500 then have them as a guest that same day trying to influence people to vote for them. Talk about conflict of interest.

He violated policy and therefore his suspension was the right thing to do. Definitely would have been better, but indefinitely will do just fine.

Tonight was the first night I could tolerate watching Countdown with the other guy sitting in.

He was suspended indefinitely without pay. that was a nice way of saying he is fired. yes he should go to npr.
Don't think he would last at NPR. - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
He goes off on rants too often. NPR won't tolerate rants. They want to maintain some sort of credibility. Everyone knows they are liberal, but it is not of the "in your face" kind that Olbermann, Maddow, and Mr. Tingles put forth. Don't think they want to go down that road...especially with MSNBC's ratings. Seriously.

LOL! When Fox does it, they call it - their coffee fund

[ In Reply To ..]
What I am confused about, does Fox own the Republican party, or does the Republican party own Fox? They get plenty of free advertising on it.

that want to even listen to his hateful rant. It is just hard to understand why people enjoy being so hateful and spiteful. He used to be entertaining, then during the election when Obama and Hillary were running against each other he and Mr. Tingle just became obnoxious and unbearable to listen to. Then when he had the racist Garofool on calling other people racist and he just kept agreeing and did not even do any thinking for himself that's when I and my friends and co-workers said he has really gone off the deep end. Then when he was giggling like a little girl to the disrespect Mr. Tingles was showing to a guest he had on, Michelle Bachman, that's when I knew he needed to be reeled in. Mr. Haterman blew it by not adhering to the rules set forth by MSNBC. All he had to do was get permission ahead of time and this most likely would not have happened. For all the nasty and hateful things he has said in the past about anyone who is a conservative and the people at Fox I just say that Karma has done it's work.

Exactly what advertising are you talking about - curious

[ In Reply To ..]
Last I new Fox has always asked both sides to come on and give their point of view. Very rarely will the democrats come on because they don't want to be asked any hard questions. Fox give the same respect and same hard questions to both sides, but they do have democrats and independents and other parties on. Something MSNBC does not do. Why would they after we heard Mr. Tingle's meltdown after he had a republican guest on the show in which he tried to make fun of but ended up backfiring, or the utter disregard for a republican actually insinuating she didn't know how to read.

Maybe more people who watch Fox are conservative, but that's because more conservatives what to hear what's really going on and they want to get to the truth.

Fox does not own the republican party and the republican party does not own Fox. Fox gives equal air time to both sides.

So which advertising are you considering republican...Geico, Hefty garbage bags, restaurants, Idaho Potatos? You think these individual companies are republican? These companies don't advertise only on Fox, they also advertise on other stations. But they do advertise on Fox because its the channel most watched and they get a lot of business. That's not called republican, that's called smart business.

Short and sweet - sm

About half way through the video the advertising comes up, but the donations and promotions are covered, too. Enjoy.

Just off the top of my head, both Christine O'Donnell and Sharon Angle refused to be interviewed except by Fox. Sharon, because "she wanted to be able to control the message." One way to handle the "hard questions," just refuse to answer them.

OH, you mean like Obama did throughout his entire run.... - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
that is why he only did interviews with people who would softball him. He finally did ONE with Fox, with O'Reilly, VERY late in the campaign, and I was quite disappointed because O'Reilly sounded more like ABC than Fox. At least he didn't preen like he was in the presence of a god like the other networks did.

Do you really think anyone outside your left turning circle believe this stuff?? LIke they can't see for their own eyes what is going on? You obviously did not get the message either from this midterm election.

That's fine. Keep driving this train in the same direction. It will be that much easier to throw Obama on it in 2012 and OUT of the White House.

I understand that you do not want to grasp the truth. That is readily apparent. But when chastising me and not the other "rude" posters from your side of the fence...shows nothing but your bias. When you cannot come up with a credible argument, you attack.

Next will come a bash sarah palin post, right?

One just wishes people could see the reality of what happened in this last election and learn from it. I guess I expect too much. Sorry about that.

You just do not like opposition, period. And instead of carrying the torch of criticizing me or my posting style, it would be refreshing if just one of you (if in fact there IS more than one of you) would actually tell me where the substance of the post is wrong. I can point you to several posts that actually ARE rude but they support your side of things, so hey..that is okey dokey by you.

I frankly think it is pretty rude to chase somebody all over a posting board just to call them rude. And a monumental waste of time and board space. lol.
You were very rude with - this sentence:

"Do you really think anyone outside your left turning circle believe this stuff?? LIke they can't see for their own eyes what is going on? You obviously did not get the message either from this midterm election."

How do you know he/she belongs to a "left-turning circle"? If you could just try to be nice and still communicate, it would be much easier to stomach your posts.

As was already mentioned, when an entire group (i.e., Democrats/Republicans) is demeaned, it regards the entire group. But in most of your posts, you ridicule the PERSON who is doing the posting.

Nobody likes to be treated that way, but if you're more comfortable being rude, then I'll just stop reading and responding to your posts.

I hope the intense hatred that inhabits your heart is healed soon.
and I hope at some point you will be honest enough... - sam

to post under a moniker...but then of course, you can't post multiple times like you are many instead of one. But alas...

Look at the post. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out he or she is left leaning. Why is that rude? Do those on the left not want to be identified as left leaning? That is somehow an insult?

And what I said about not getting the message from the midterm election. That is not rude. That is the truth. Why not counter with telling me what YOUR view is (I have asked you this multiple times under your multiple posts and you have yet to post anything of substance other than calling me rude...) . And sorry, I do not understand the differentiation between demeaning a group or demeaning an individual, that is just silly, it is FAR WORSE to demean an entire group. You cannot be serious thinking it is okay to paint the whole group as "pubes" than it is for me to debate with a single person. I did not say in the post Democrats didn't get it because some of them DID. That is why what happened happened in the election. If you have a better explanation for what happened, please feel free to tell us all what that is.

You are the one displaying the intense invidual hatred here, with all due respect. You are the one who has made it his/her business to chase me all this board, and saying it is okay to slander an entire group of people and somehow that is more "okay."

PLEASE.

I sincerely hope YOU can let go of the blame game and look inside your own heart...it appears it could stand some healing of its own.

In the meantime, I will take your comments under advisement. And will await your honest answer about what YOU think the midterms meant.

That is not a rude sentence - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
There is a difference between being rude and just stating a fact. Of course if you don't agree with the facts you will think it's rude.

This board is not a place where people are nicey nice to each other all the time. People post messages and facts and sure it's going to hurt the other sides feeling at times but each side has the right to post their feelings about issues that affect us.

I've seen the worst come out of people when discussing politics. Even in my own family my MIL thinks she has the right to call anyone a racist, stupid, Obama-hater and anything and everything she can think of, no matter what she sounds like. My grandfather taught me growing up that if you discuss politics with people be prepared to go to war.

After Obama won the election there were a lot of posters gloating and a lot of posters upset. Then as the economy got worse and worse and things kept going downhill there have been some very "harsh" posts on this board from both sides. People called Obama-haters and racists to people being called Obama-lovers and Bush-haters.

The basic fact is that the sentence you posted that you think is rude is not rude at all. It is her opinion. It is also the opinion of a lot of people on TV and in many articles I have read. Even countries overseas have come out and said that The democrats and Obama have not gotten the message of what this election meant.

I have one sentence about this election that pretty much sums it up, and since you don't think anyone on the left is rude I will quote VP Joe Biden - "This is a big f-n deal".
She didn't call anyone names - nice try...not

[ In Reply To ..]
they are not going to see the difference between Fox and MSNBC. Unless the the almight from on high (Obamna) or the cast of lesser gods (the DNC) proclaim from the mount the truth of what happened in those elections...you will continue to see these 1 or 2 holdouts posting as different people high-fiving themselves in a feeble attempt to try to say what happened in the elections was on all Republicans. Anybody who cannot see the fallacy in that has given up any ability to think for themselves. And are quite happy to still follow the dwindling herd. Right off the cliff probably, but still following.

The truth is that it would not have been possible if the majority of Independents voted Republican, a lot of moderate and conservative Democrats voted Republican, and a lot of Republicans who did not get out and vote when Obama got elected DID come out and vote this time.

Republicans could not have done this alone, but I guess the thought of people of their own party (who they hold as god) voting for a Republican, if they allowed that thought to take hold...would turn their brains to mush.

I could go places with that but I won't. I got over being angry a long time ago and now I just feel bad for'em.
You are absolutely right!! - GT
[ In Reply To ..]
I have always considered myself to be conservative and more slanted towards the Republican issues than Democrat, even though my parents were die-hard Democrats and the rest of my family is also Democrat and I catch a lot flack from them. That being said, I also have always voted based on the how the candidates view the issues and not on one party or another. However, this year I voted Republican across the board. I am so disgusted with anyone who labels themselves Democrat that I just didn't care any more. If the candidate had "Republican" next to their name, they got my vote. I think a lot of people did the same thing. Democrats were given all the rope they needed. ; )
Yes...and until all parties and the people in them... - sam
[ In Reply To ..]
get back to the basics of democracy and elected officials go to washington to do the bidding of their electorate instead of in search of earmarks and all that hoohah...which is ridiculous on the face of it, because earmarks are federal gimmes and guess who pays for the federal gimmes? WE THE PEOPLE. And for so long we have bought that old wow he brought a lot of dollars back to the district, when in fact, all he did was bring back what they had paid in!! Earmarks and all that crap need to stop, we need limited federal goverment and more power at the state level the way the founding fathers designed it, and we need to become Americans again not divided by political party lines. We need a congress willing to do the will of the american people...THAT is democracy!

And it should start with US. We should be the first to make those lines between parties dotted instead of SOLID. I hate political parties. They suck up way too much money that we as individuals should be keeping in our pockets. It should be about individual candidates saying what they will do, we vote based on that, and then when they get to Washington they have the guts, backbone, and INTEGRITY to live up to what they promised, or at least TRYING and not caving to a PARTY.

Sigh.

I believe the difference is that Hannity notified the station ahead of time that he was donating. I don't know off hand what the rules are that Fox set forth.

I do know the rules that MSNBC put forth and Mr. Olberman broke them.

The kicker of this story is that Fox is a decent place and would not have fired him. Goes to prove that MSNBC is not a trustful place. If they ever want their ratings to go up they need to keep Olberman off permanently and also get rid of Mr. Tingles.
This makes no sense (link enclosed) - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
First, Fox is not asking for people to contribute to a candidate.

I watched the video with RM whining trying to compare this with Fox. Here's the difference.

Olberman donated the maximum he could legally on the same day he interviewed the candidate on Countdown. Hannity did not.

Also, Fox allows people from their show who do not consider themselves journalists to do fund raisers for a candidate they support. If the network does not consider them a journalist they are allowed to do it. Hannity, O'Reilly & Beck have never passed themselves as journalists.

Olberman delivers nightly lectures about how he and MSNBC uphold journalistic standards. If he would not have lied and considered himself a journalist most likely he would not be in this situation. Sounds like he kicked himself on this one.

I believe Olberman made a mistake. We all make them. I don't like to see anyone fired from a job, but this is a little different. The hate that Olberman stirs up in people is bound to lead to violence. He oversteps his limits and he needs to be put into place.

But guess a lot of people like his carnival side show. I just think he's a very dangerous person and the public should be kept safe from his fear mongering.

Also, Fox has nothing to do with Olberman being fired. MSNBC and their policies are to blame.

I wonder how many $$$ Fox donated - to Democrats?

[ In Reply To ..]
Fair and balanced, I hope? I don't care if the individuals personally contribute to candidates, but it certainly is unethical for Fox "personalities" to ask for contributions and make endorsements of the candidates on their shows. They should call themselves the Fox Infomercial Channel.
Probably the same amount MSNBC donated - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
to republicans. Colmes who is a democrat and on Fox donates to democrats, as does Bechel and other democrats who come on Fox.

You need to get your fact straight instead of repeating the RM lie.

Nobody on Fox has ever asked for contributions on their shows.

That lie is about as lame as the lie of calling peaceful people violent racists.

I'd say nice try, but it was no where near.

The editing made it look bad, but the interviewee is "offering" their website, without the interviewer requesting contributions. They may have made positive references, but they did not overtly "endorse" anyone. Another nice try, but no cigar. I am sure there will be more on the subject.
