John Bohner is an actual real human being with feelings. He cares about the direction the country is heading in and he cares about the people in the country.
You need to bone up on HR 3 and the distinction between - rape and quote forcible rape unquote.

which categorically and deliberately seeks to redefine rape. While you are at it, please note precisely who thinks HR 3 is of critical importance and of the highest priority...way more important than jobs, which still have not even been mentioned. They have been too busy with extending tax cuts to the rich, debt reduction hypocrisy, impotent symbolic votes and their mission to reverse any and all legislation from the previous session.

Or perhaps you don't care if the government controls more of your life. I, however, do care. Government has no business being in my health care....PERIOD.
Don't believe - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that you have to change your insurance. From what I understand you can keep your insurance if you are happy with it. And what about the ones that don't have insurance? Are you implying they don't have a right to have insurance. In other words, only the wealthy should be allowed to be healthy. Perhaps there are millions of people that work their butts off and still can't afford insurance. I guess it's just too bad for them, Huh? What a selfish attitude you have. Not all people that don't have insurance are lazy bums. Most are working very hard and just can't afford insurance. They make too much to get Medicare, so they are not deserving of health insurance I guess. The government is not trying to get in your health care. It is trying to provide everyone with health care.
I agree that this healthcare plan is not perfect and needs tweeking, but it would be an awful shame if it were taken away just because selfish people don't care about the less fortunate in our country!
There are a lot of those working class who choose - not to have insurance
[ In Reply To ..]
because it is too expensive. I think you will find that a lot of us that do carry insurance are by no means well off, we just have seen it as a necessity.
Now these working class people who could not afford to carry the insurance are going to be forced or pay the penalties. I'm not sure how that makes one selfish for not wanting them to be forced into buying something they can't afford.
From what I understand, it is not going to be free insurance for everyone; you still have to pay up.
Are you really that blind? - sm

Here are just a few stastitics:
â€Â˘Approximately 103 million people would be covered under the new public plan and as a consequence about 83.4 million people would lose their private insurance. This would represent a 48.4 percent reduction in the number of people with private coverage.
â€Â˘About 88.1 million workers would see their current private, employer-sponsored health plan go away and would be shifted to the public plan.
â€Â˘Yearly premiums for the typical American with private coverage could go up by as much as $460 per privately insured person, as a result of increased cost-shifting stemming from a public plan modeled on Medicare.
These statistics were conducted by the Lewin Group.
Just for the record, I never said people didn't deserve health care. There are many who don't have health insurance and choose NOT to have health insurance and that is THEIR right, but under Obamacare they will be forced to pay for something they don't want or pay a penalty.
Also, another problem I do have with Obamacare - instead of offering more choices, it seems to focus on mandates. In addition to the mandate regarding coverage for children up to age 26, there will apparently be penalties for people who have insurance that provides less coverage than what the federal government deems necessary. That means if you and your family have a catastrophic care plan that you are satisfied with, you may end up paying penalties to the government to keep the plan. The other option would be for you to switch to a more expensive plan that provides all the coverage the government has decided you need to have. To me, this is one of the ugly sides of Obamacare - less freedom for the individual.
The other ugliness relates to the kickbacks such as the "Cornhusker Kickback" that were apparently necessary to pass the bill. If a piece of legislation is a good and worthy law and it will help the majority of people - then why would it need such bribes in order to bring about passage?
Finally, what I consider a bad aspect of Obamacare - the bill is designed such that even if you agree with some of its policies, you won't see the benefits until 2014. Many families have children who cannot get insurance because they have pre-existing conditions. Those families might have supported Obamacare because they desired a way to provide for their kids. However, if you are among those families, it is too early to celebrate. You still won't be able to get insurance for your kids. The code that forces insurance companies to provide coverage for your children doesn't go into effect until 2014.
Another aspect of Obamacare that will have a negative impact on your family - if you and your family currently get medical benefits from an employer, Obamacare will mandate a 40% tax on those benefits. A sliding scale determines who is exempt from paying this tax. So, in 2013, only families making more than $120,000 will have to worry about it - but by 2019, families making more than $75,000 will be hit. Theoretically only "cadillac plans" will be hit because premiums under $21,000 a year will be exempt. However, as medical costs rise, the number of families whose monthly premiums are around $2000 will rise.
Seems to me like some of you need to do some major research on the bill instead of just praising something that even the politicians didn't understand fully when they voted for it.

I don't have insurance either, and I don't want to be told I have to buy it or pay a fee or tax or whatever they are calling it.
Just because I oppose ObamaCare does NOT mean I don't care about those less fortunate than me (just like when I criticize Obama, it doesn't mean I'm a racist). On the contrary, I give plenty of my time and money to those less fortunate than me, and I'm so tired of the "social justice" theme and doing it because "it's the right thing to do." Who says?
Government needs to step back and let the free market work. They can't run the post office, Social Security, Amtrack, etc. without huge waste, fraud and abuse. I'd like to see them "clean up" Medicaid and Medicare of millions of dollars in wasteful spending and abuse before implementing ANY new legislation.

This isn't good health care that we are going to be provided with. Obama has made exceptions for big wigs in the union and those in congress to not have this so-called wonderful health care they are cramming down the rest of our throats. Care will be rationed and unfortunately many Americans will suffer because of that. If this were a good thing, many Americans wouldn't be against it.

to bring the standard of care down for nearly the entire country to make it a little better for those who, by and large, have made a decision to do without health insurance. The problem is not that most uninsured simply can't afford it, it is that their priorities have put other things above health insurance. I do not think that they should be forced to buy insurance, or that anyone else should be forced to subsidize it for them.

Can you define "good" health care? Or better yet, can you define "affordable" health care?
What's good for some may not be considered good for others - and who gets to decide what's good for all? The HHS Secretary?? Scary thought.
What exactly is "affordable" health care, as in the "Affordable Care Act?" Again, who gets to decide how much the people in America can afford to pay each month? How do they come up with that figure?
Oh, I forgot, one step closer to nirvana.

Why Obamacare Will Self Repeal. Two Words Summarize Why.Jan 11, 2017The debate is over. We do not need to repeal Obamacare; it will repeal itself. Two words summarize why: risk pool.
The ACA is founded upon a stunning misconception of the very definition of insurance. Its advocates have mistakenly conflated two unrelated concepts: insurance and welfare – or, more to the point, risk and charity.
People buy insurance in order to mitigate risk. We buy fire insurance because there is a slight chance that our house will burn down. If we cannot afford ins ...
