New NLRB rules

Posted: Jan 26, 2012

I'm curious as to why the NLRB would want the emails and phone numbers of employees before a union vote.

Isn't that protected personal information that businesses would not be able to give, like an address or Social Security number?

It used to be protected information. I heard a union official today say it was to contact members in case they had "questions" about a vote. I thought that was the purpose of union meetings?? Anyway, union guy also said that if peeple did not want to have someone use this information, they would not provide it to their employers in the first place. His reasoning sounded pretty bogus to me. If the union cannot make their case in a meeting, why should they have access to you on your own personal time. Pretty odd no matter how you dissect it.

I think it odd, as well. That is why I posted the rep's comments. No one from a union should have access to any personal information obtained from anyone's employer. If you want to give it to the unoin, have at it. Otherwise, union should take care of business in union meetings.
Obviously you never dealt with an employer blocking the union - UnionLabel

Do you not understand that a prospective union organization attempt needs to contact prospective members in order to have a meeting and a vote? OMG! Obama was actually able to appoint the members so they could perform the duties of the Board. Did you happen to notice the the NLRB represents non-union employees as well as union. Anything that makes the US chamber mad, I am definitely for!

You make quite a few assumptions regarding my work history of which you know nothing. Never said anything other than what was asked...period. I am well aware of what the NLRB is SUPPOSED to do. Do you not understand that things should not be read into a post that simply are not there?

You said it. Would be so much less back biting on this board if people actually read/thought before they posted. When someone reads things or states things that are not in a poster's message, tells you more about that person than the poster they are attempting to "straighen out".

that has spawned a flurry of personal attacks and the mobilization of transparent diversionary tactics...a sure sign you have struck a nerve. This is not all that surprising, considering how the Koch Brothers over-reach is backfiring bigtime all over the place, and the tide of public opinion in support of union and nonunion workers and beneficial policies that address middle class wage stagnation, congressional inaction on jobs programs, wage stagnation, and fair share tax agendas has taken a sharp turn toward the left recently. I too take great glee at anything that enrages the DC do-nothings.

The Nostradamus Academy of Numerolgy posits the Illuminati - are behind it
[ In Reply To ..]
Rumor has it that their agent of change is cleverly disguised as an LDS political candidate, but academy officials, who prefer to remain anonymous, question this selection, since lately the Chosen One (or is it Annointed? I forget) is reported to have blown his cover recently during stump speeches at a few pitstops along the campaign trail. To further complicate this unpleasant turn of events, certain primary contenders have alluded to a variety of suspicions that he is not who he appears to be.

The academy's Dean of End-Days Prophecies is seeking input from Harold Camping behind-the-scenes, but so far no public statement has been issued on whether or not they will advise US illuminati legionnaires to replace him with the newly emerging lunar colony commander, or perhaps choose from amongst younger, more promising 11th-hour dark horse rogue candidates, hand picked from a fresh crop of frat brat pledges to the Order of the Skull-and-Crossbones. I understand the last selection from amongst their alumni ranks proved to be quite effective in taking orders from his elusive bunkered-down brain brigadier, and managed to invade and occupy a few sovereign countries and prolong the ensuing death and destruction for the entire duration of his tenure.

Stay tuned.

I'd like to see that interview with the union rep. - Where did you see it? nm

It was a national news channel. I thought it was an odd rep for the union cause and found the comments strange.

NLRB Suing AZ And SD Over Secret BallotsApr 26, 2011
On the heels of President Obama’s union-controlled National Labor Relations Board complaint telling the Boeing Company where it should locate its second 787 assembly plant, the NLRB has now decided to sue two out of the four states where voters audaciously passed constitutional amendments last fall requiring secret-ballot elections on unionization.  Previously, the NLRB had threatened to sue all four states. However, those plans were delayed for a period of time as comp ...

Judge Rules Out Health Care LawDec 13, 2010
This is good news.  Now if politicians could just make health care affordable for all.  I'd love the same rates as someone in Idaho or other states have.  Make health insurance competitive, they have to accept pre-existing conditions and nobody could ever be refused health care and I think that would be a great way for a new year.  But forcing people to buy a product they don't want is just not right and I'm glad this judge saw how unconstitutional it is. &nbs ...
