Chalk one up for the terrorists. See the following/ found on Wikepedia. Make sure you check out the detainees at Gitmo who worked or volunteered for this group.

"Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation was a charity foundation, based in Saudi Arabia, alleged to be a front for the international terrorist organization al-Qaeda. Although all charges were dropped by a federal judge, it is now banned worldwide by United Nations Security Council Committee 1267[1].

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Department of the Treasury had already banned various branches of this organization at various times, including the US branch on 9 September 2004[2]. Under various names it had branches in Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Comoros, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Tanzania, and the USA.[1]

The American branches of this foundation were in Ashland, Oregon and Springfield, Missouri. Two directors of those branches, Suliman Al-Buthe ( سليÙ…اÙ† اÙ„بوثي ) and Aqeel Abdul Aziz Al-Aqil ( عقيÙ„ عبد اÙ„عزيز اÙ„عقيÙ„ ), are now personally embargoed worldwide by the UN.[1]

Wiretapping...... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Wiretapping is illegal unless the proper authorities are given permission through a judge to do so. And since they claim to have all this info, there should be no problem getting a warrant to institute wiretapping for THOSE organizations. Just to be given the okay to wiretap opens a flood gate of abuse for private citizens who may have a problem with the government but by no means are terorrists. They just don't like the govt's activities and speak out against it.

With the terrorist info on these groups, there should be no reason a warrant can't be obtained to wiretap on those groups.

A little common sense goes a long way. These organizations have been watched closely and the FBI/CIA know exactly what they are up to and should not have a problem coughing up enough proof to expedite a warrant by a judge to wiretap.

...and everything obtained towards a case against the terrorist group would - Backwards Typist

would be ruled out in this case and they would have to start over, which means this group has even more time to get their ducks in a row.

If it were so illegal, why didn't legal counsel to the president(s) advise this prior to doing it? Why didn't they check the law themselves? Congress gave approval, right? Did any judge speak up then? I can't remember but will look around.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the government should wiretap at their every whim, but I also think when the security of this country is in jeopardy and/or they know a group is engaged in terrorist activities, that the government should have the right to gather evidence against them.

As was stated in one article I read, it can sometimes take days or longer for a warrant to be issued, depending on what's one the court's plate. For example, the government knows a plot is going to take place on such-and-such a day/month. They need a wiretap to collect evidence. They request a warrant then must wait for the court warrant to wiretap to get the positive evidence. Meanwhile, the attack happened "yesterday" and the court still has the request on their calendar. See what I mean? Or am I wrong?
When Bush signed this..... - sm

it provided the framework needed to actually do surveillance without a warrant, which would be a big no-no. And it was to "spy on private u.s. citizens" AND the Democrat Congress didn't want it anyway and wouldn't agree to everything he wanted to do. They were also afraid of overstepping government bounds, which is exactly what is happening with Obama's administration. Funny how that works.

They could do what they wanted then, terrorists or no terrorits. Besides, Bush didn't need to add that. We already have warrants in place for wiretapping and the such.

Judge Rules Out Health Care LawDec 13, 2010
This is good news.  Now if politicians could just make health care affordable for all.  I'd love the same rates as someone in Idaho or other states have.  Make health insurance competitive, they have to accept pre-existing conditions and nobody could ever be refused health care and I think that would be a great way for a new year.  But forcing people to buy a product they don't want is just not right and I'm glad this judge saw how unconstitutional it is. &nbs ...

Judge Rules Fort Hood Jihadist Aug 22, 2012
I have to admit, the judge's reasoning makes sense: "Forced shaving is not a novel concept in the military,’’ military attorneys said in the judge’s response filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. ‘‘Army regulations expressly authorize nonconsensual haircutting and face-shaving for recalcitrant incarcerated soldiers. … If the judge has authority to bind and gag a disruptive accused (soldier), then certainly he has authority to forcibly shave (Hasan).’’ ...

Judge Gives Obama Administration 7 Days Mar 03, 2011
It's about time. The government has been dragging their feet on this issue hoping the full health care plan would go into effect before they had to do anything.   U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled Thursday that implementation of the health law can proceed — but he gave the Obama administration just seven days to file an appeal. Vinson issued a stay of his own Jan. 31 ruling that declared the entire health care reform law unconstitutional. He chastised the govern ...

Obama Directs HHS To Establish Rules Ensuring Hospital Visitation Rights For Gay, Lesbian CouplesApr 15, 2010
President Obama has signed a memorandum directing the Department of Health and Human Services to establish rules that would bar hospitals from denying visitation rights to partners of gay and lesbian patients. Many hospitals currently restrict hospital visitation to a patient's family members by blood or marriage. Because gay marriage is not legal in most states, partners are often unable to visit their loved ones--even in emergency situations. Any hospital that receives federal Medicare ...

Judge: Sanctions Possible In Obama Immigration Court CaseMar 21, 2015
A federal judge who has blocked President Barack Obama's immigration executive action suggested on Thursday that he could order sanctions against the Justice Department if he rules it misled him about when exactly the administration began implementing one of the measures. During a sometimes testy court hearing, U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen went back and forth with the Justice Department over whether it had mislead him into believing that a key part of Obama's program would not be ...

Obama Agency Rules Pepsi's Use Of Aborted Fetal Cells In Soft Drinks - Business As UsualMay 08, 2012
I heard about the story of smuggled capsules of human flesh made in you know where.  As if finding out they eat eggs cooked in urine of small boys was not enough to make me gag.  So, then found that Pepsi uses fetal cells as a flavor enhancer (at least that's my understanding of the article - could be wrong of course).  Then I read that Obama's administration said it's okay to use aborted fetus in Pepsi.  Again, maybe I read that wrong.  Either way, never ...

Repairing The Job Machine (More Jobs Under Obama Than Bush?)May 15, 2010
More jobs might be created this year than during George W.
