-- something widely denounced by conservatives on this board.

Polls are funny. Link supplied for those who care to read beyond the headlines:

"Despite the poor performance reviews, Obama's primary tactic so far — imposing economic sanctions on key Russians — has strong backing.

Close to 9 out of 10 Americans support sanctions as a response to Russia's annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, the poll indicates. About half of that group says the U.S. sanctions so far are about right, while the other half wants to see them strengthened, the AP-GfK poll found."

One question... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Is the AP poll about Russian sanctions only?

No, here is the full AP coverage - sm

Overall disapproval of the job Obama is doing ticked up to 59 percent — a record high for his presidency — in the poll released Wednesday. That's still well below the 72 percent disapproval rate that former President George W. Bush recorded in the AP-GfK poll in October 2008. Still, Obama's 41 percent approval rating is a sobering number for fellow Democrats running in this fall's House and Senate elections.

So, the link you posted with the following sentence is a lie? - Truthhurts

You said...."9 out of 10 support Russian sanctions -- something widely denounced by conservatives on this board" but do they?

Most conservatives are Republican so this sentence from the article is more accurate:

"Most Democrats say the sanctions were OK, while a majority of Republicans find them too weak….

----and I think that would include conservatives on this board. Maybe we should have a poll to really find out how conservatives on this board really feel?

I'm all for stronger sanctions, those that would include hitting Putin would be really great. I think why Obama is not putting sanctions on him is weird but the only thing that comes to mind is his open mic statement that he'd have more flexibility when he was re-elected. Could that be why he isn't putting sanctions on Putin himself?

Note this:
"Now he's hit a new low on international relations — just 40 percent approval."

"Majorities say they dislike Obama's handling of the Ukraine situation (57 percent) and his interactions with Russia (54 percent)."

Once again, thank you, Truthhurts. - I love your posts!!!

This is an edited post. People are extremely sensitive to things we write these days. I guess I can understand that given the circumstances.
I don't think that's fair - sm

The fact that some posters may not understand statistical analysis doesn't mean that those of us who do are uninformed or unwilling to become informed.
I thought insulting fellow posters was against the rules. - nm

well, no TH, that's not a lie - sm

Nine out of ten people can easily be represented by "Most democrats" and some republicans. Did you not pick up on the irony of "a majority of Republicans find them [the sanctions] too weak?"

So, no. There was no lie; there is no lie; no lie is required.

Romney Rocked! Even CNN Stated Oct 03, 2012
64% of the votes came in and Romney won the debate according to CNN, NOT FOX NEWS.  I bet Obama missed his teleprompter and the person who writes his speeches.  I cannot believe Obama had to stutter and did not know the constitution and was trying to find words to say.  I cannot believe he has run the United States for the last 4 years.  I was actually proud tonight living in the United States after this debate.  Momentum was up and I am hoping for job creation.  ...

Poll: 39% Of Democrats Want Obama To Run For A Third TermNov 08, 2014
"The atmosphere before the midterm elections apparently didn't do a thing to chasten Obama's most hardcore, Democrat fans. A new poll shows that nearly a third of those Democrats surveyed wish Obama could have a third term. A new Economist/YouGov poll that was conducted just before the elections certainly showed that overall a large number of respondents are unhappy with Obama, but there was also a large number of Democrats who thought that Obama was so great that he deserve ...

Poll: President Obama Still By Far The Most Popular National PoliticianApr 14, 2010
By Stephen C. WebsterTuesday, April 13th, 2010 -- 11:15 pm For all the talk, saber rattling, obstruction and fervent peddling of alternate realities Republicans have engaged in since President Obama took office, one might think they'd be doing a little better in the polls, even if by merely playing the role of a lesser of two evils in the eyes of the masses. Not quite. President Obama is still by far the most national politician in the United States, according to a new CNN poll [PDF link ...

Confirming the 2014 election zeitgeist, a new Gallup poll finds that Americans are fed up with ever-encroaching, corrupt and incompetent government, as represented by ObamaCare and other federal policies.   For the first time since Gallup has conducted polling, people say that the "biggest problem" in America is "the government." It topped all other categories, including terrorism. "2014 was the first year ever in Gallup records that dissatisfaction with government topped the list," the 8 ...

CNN Poll Shamefully Skewed. De-skew The Poll And It'sSep 11, 2012
The campaign to mislead the public, discourage conservative voters, etc. is underway, full bore. Do NOT believe ANY polls.  Think for yourself - and VOTE, regardless of any polls that might suggest that Obama has this sewn up.  The DNC had a disastrous convention and they're also trying to make that look like the best thing since conventions began.
