Pres Obama plans on announcing he is appointing John Kerry for Defense and Rice for Sec of State.

Wow! Didn't it come out when Kerry was running for president that he threw away his Viet Nam Medals? Now he will be the boss of the military.

And Rice lied on many TV shows about the video being the reason for the Embassy attack.

What is our country coming to?

Cheney, Romney, Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove. I won't include Bush since he was supposedly in the Guard. But John Kerry was there and earned the right to protest. And yes, besides all of that, he is well qualified to be Secretary of Defense.

Yes, he threw them away when he was in his 70s and when I asked why, he said it was because he was disgusted with wars. He served in the Air Force. He loved our country and always taught us to vote, but he hated wars.

My father volunteered for WWII, like most of the Greatest Generation did. He saw the Great Depression, hurricanes, floods, and poverty. He served honorably. It was up to him what he did with his medals/ribbons. My uncle saw combat in the European theater and he also threw his medals/ribbons away.

My father waited for hours shivering in a cold New England city until like 3 a.m. to see and listen to a young John Kennedy running for President. My brother and I wanted to go, also, but we were too young for the long walk into the city and the huge crowds.

And don't get me going on Vietnam. I remember well the Vietnam years. Some of my brother's best friends and my classmates never made it back home from Nam. That war deserved to be protested. It was a sham and a farce.

John Kerry flip-flopped his story (as reported on below ABC News Article - if you consider ABC News legitimate) and even commented..."...he didn't throw his medals because he didn't have time to go home and get them..." Then to another source he said..."I am proud of my medals....."

Bottom line are trust issues.

After all this time you should know what everyone else does, that Kerry was a 3-time purple heart winner in Viet Nam.

Son of a wealthy and powerful man, he could have done a safe, fake, even fun service, perhaps indulged by training him to fly a plane he would never use, but his conscience made him forego this corrupt privilege and go to Viet Nam with hundreds of thousands of young men his age who had no choice.

This was noble, honorable. He absolutely did not deserve the smears that were so outrageous that they added a whole new word to our vocabulary, simply "smear" not being profound enough.
