My grandson can't decide on a career. I suggested he might consider

Posted: Sep 30, 2016

Let's see...

...free room and board...

...free medical, including any major surgery you might need, and even transgender operations in case you get a whim in that direction...

...free dental, including orthodontia, transplants etc...

...free legal services...

...free college (grad school even!)...

...free gym membership...

...free job counseling and training...

...free cable TV...

...free swimming pool...

...library...

...all the drugs you could ever want...

...and now the vote from prison, even before you've paid your debt to society (the argument for registering ex-cons, if you remember, is that "they've paid their debt".)

What's next, cruise packages?  Flying lessons?  Ski vacations?

;

ha! He'd probably get released on good behavior - Val

Seriously, I'd suggest plumber, electrician, or some kind of clerk position at a community college. He'd get points for being male and make a lot more than adjunct professors.

Gak! You're right! - Make that a BAD California prisoner.

At least until you earn your MBA.

My 5-yo Grandson Wanted To Help 911 Victims.Sep 12, 2011
My daughter's college roommate lost both of her parents on Flight #93 a month before her wedding.  Truly said even though we did not actually know them.  My daughter has kept in touch with this roommate.  They live close to one another and their kids go to the pool together a lot.  When my daughter was watching some of the 9/11 memorials yesterday she became a little teary and her son asked her what was wrong.  She tried to explain things to him on his level.& ...

Would You Mind Voting For My Grandson?Oct 04, 2012
My grandson(s) are in a contest for a photography package.  Would you mind going here:   http://gailannephotography.com/blog/2012/10/2012-fall-cute-kids-contest-entries-ready-set-vote/ Scroll all the way down and choose Gabe (8 years) or Chase (4 years) (or both) -- Chase's name is all the way down at the bottom of the list. My daughter desperately wants to get a family portrait done and to be able to use the pictures as holiday gifts. Thanks in advance!! ...

Court Documents Reveal Palin's Grandson Uses Socialized Medicine.Feb 23, 2010
By Stephen C. WebsterMonday, February 22nd, 2010 -- 9:47 pm For someone who once generated a national hysteria by claiming socialized medicine would bring about government-run "death panels" that would kill the elderly and children with mental defects, Sarah Palin seems remarkably calm, what with her grandson now facing the very same allegedly tyrannical construct, that is. Yes, that's right: Sarah Palin, Alaska's former governor and a millionaire thanks to sales of her book, has a g ...

New Career....Jan 12, 2015
Are there any medical transcriptionists (current or former) who have embarked on a new career or job?  If so, could you please let us know in what field and how it has worked out.  I am so excited about getting out of this field, and I could use some extra motivation! : ) Thank you ...

Trying To Decide Whether To Take My Son To The ER.Oct 28, 2009
My 17yo son has been feverish for three days.  He has mostly ran a fever in the early morning and late afternoon, evening hours.  However, when he takes ibuprofen or Tylenol, the fever breaks and he feels fine.  However, this evening he spiked a fever to 102.  He took four 200 mg ibuprofen and the fever came down to 99.4.  But within an hour, it shot back up to 101.7.  He took more ibuprofen (without my knowledge!) and his fever his still hovering at 101.2.&nbs ...

DecideApr 09, 2012
Decide Decide that this day will be productive and consequential, and it will be. Decide to rise above the petty distractions, and you’re already on your way. Decide that there are valuable opportunities in the challenges, and you’ll find those opportunities. Decide to make a positive difference, and you’ll have what is necessary to do so. There are many factors in life over which you have no direct control. And yet even with those things, you can decide how to handle them. ...

Remember When Tim Kaine Suggested Taking It To The Streets.Jun 14, 2017
The left can't stand to lose so they lash out. It has continued to escalate and will probably go further until someone high up in the democratic party calls for unity. Obama and Clinton have done nothing like that. In fact, they have promoted hate and resistance. They make me sick. ...

Kid's Career TestingApr 27, 2011
This will be quick and this will be funny.  My boy comes home from 5th grade today, explaining how they all went to computer class and answered questions to ascertain their perfect career.  (He tells me his qualifying choices are nuclear engineer, mechanical engineer, etc., -- but that's beside the point).  So, when he gets home, he and his best friend are now at home playing with this career-assigning website.  As a joke, they type in "Strongly Dislike" for every singl ...

Career Move . . . May 31, 2010
Has anyone taking a real estate course to become a sales agent?  I am thinking of making this move and would like to take an online course, so I can keep transcribing and study in my spare time.  Many slow days lately so should have plenty of time for the course.  Please share your opinion and advice for an online school.  Thanks!     ...

Possible Career ChangeMar 12, 2016

MT Career AlternativesJun 18, 2015
Hi all, I'm wondering what my career alternatives are. I've been an MT for only a little over two years now but I have the beginning of arthritis and carpal tunnel in the same hand.  I'm only 38 and was not anticipating this problem so early... I love what I do (minus the crappy pay) and I especially love working from home. Can anyone suggest any alternatives that pay decent with my medical background? I do straight typing and have a pretty large dictionary in my autocorrec ...

My New Career: Your Input Needed!Jan 18, 2012
I need to find something else.  Perhaps you can chime in here with some ideas and help me as well as others! I am VERY detail oriented and have excellent command of English.  I love animals.  I enjoy puzzles and just about anything that is thought-provoking.  I prefer dealing with things rather than the public but can deal with interacting with a handful of coworkers.  I don't want to sell because I'm not a liar and am not fake.  Generally speaking, ...

Debates Obviously Do Not Decide Elections.Oct 12, 2012
I have not been happy with O's performance the last 4 years.  However, I am not sure he is totally to blame for the state of our economy, debt, and job situation.  The R fully admit that what was dumped in his lap was tremendous.  Much of the debt technically does not even belong to O.  The rest, I believe he had no choice, as we were actually looking at a depression.  As Clinton stated, NO president, R or D, could fix these problems in 4 years. Even though I just ...

My Little Grandson "voted" In Kindergarten Yesterday. Nov 06, 2012
learn he knew exactly who he wanted for president.  I'm not surprised. When she was about 7 a study reported that children form their political personas early. I guessed what each were (one conservative, one liberal), and then asked them. Sure enough!  Except, our conservative-trending small daughter grew up in a liberal household and eventually married someone who once traveled with the Clinton presidential campaigns as a documentary producer (guess his affiliation) . Although ...

Does Hillary Know That She May Have Just Destroyed Her Career In Politics?Oct 16, 2012
By taking responsibility for the lack of security in Benghazi, I think she may have just blown her own future. Is she hoping that it will all be forgotten by 2016? What the heck was she thinking? To cover for the President and VP is absolutely the wrong thing to do. Hillary may have to share some of the blame but let's put the blamed where it belongs. Right at the top. The way this story comes out, it's all in her lap...another one bites the dust. Does the WH have something on her and ...

Copyediting Or Medical Coding As A Career After MTJan 10, 2016
Hello, I do not have the money to keep spending on no where careers.  I am wondering what people think would be the better at home career for someone who is already an MT?  Someone a few years back said she was an MT and got into copyediting after.   For those who don't know, a copyeditor is kind of like a proofreader but they also look at content.  A medical coder codes procedures, etc. for billing purposes.  I have looked into both and cannot make a decision. &n ...

Rand Paul: SCOTUS Doesn't Get To Decide Jun 28, 2012
The exact quote is, “Just because a couple of people on the Supreme Court declare something to be 'constitutional' does not make it so."  OMG.  Is this the best the TP has to offer?  Is this the same Tea Party whose platform is founded on the principle that, "The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land and must be adhered to without exception at all levels of government?"  One has to wonder if he has ever read it.  Then he said, "The Tea P ...

Looking At Straight Talk Cell Phones And Can't Decide Which One Would Be Best.Nov 13, 2014
My first instinct is to go for the cheapest and on the straight talk website they have a free Samsung T528G when you purchase a plan.  I have a cheapy prepaid phone now that I hate!  It is supposedly touchscreen, but I cannot get it calibrated right and half the time I have no service which I don't know is the phone or the cell service. I also see Samsung Centura or Discover for $50 to $70.  So what would you guys suggest I get? ...
