Santorum attacked Protestants

Posted: Feb 18, 2012

In a 2008 speech (prior to hiding his true beliefs in order to run for president) he stated Protestants were no longer Christians.  That should not sit well with the thumpers.  JFK spinning in his grave.

Obama has attacked - ALL Christians

Wake up indeed. As if Obama has not hidden his true believes...RIIIGHT.

[ In Reply To ..]
President Obama has made his beliefs quite clear. Christian. Very clear. I'm not Christian and have to say I'm more than ready for this country to kick religion out of the political discourse. Just because Christians scream louder doesn't mean they get to be our de facto religion. Fanatics like Santorum will have your head spinning. The only saving grace is he will never be elected to the office of President.

what country do YOU live in - used to be - a free one BEFORE OBAMA-Independent thinker

Were you conscious during the 8 years Bush screwed this country into oblivion? Were you conscious when he was having people fired for speaking out against his administration? Were you conscious when he and his cronies pocketed so much money they could support ALL of us for years and still not see a dent in it? Were you conscious when big oil and Bushy and his cronies decided to share one big bed? Were you conscious when Bushy decided regulation wasn't any fun? Get real.

never defended Bush. Try to stay on subject. Post regards current president, Obama, in case you are not aware of who currently holds office or the damage being done under Obama. Guess you would only be able to see the damage if Obama had an R behind his name? Try to stay on point.

Back in the day before Kennedy ran for the presidency, there was talk about if he won the presidency, America would be run by the Catholic Church, and NOBODY WANTED THAT.

Today, Santorum is the Catholic, and he's made it clear that he intends to bring Catholic doctrine into the White House with him.

With Kennedy, we had no reason to worry. I'm worried now. I'm not Catholic. My faith doesn't object to contraception. What about MY freedom of religion?

If this is specific to Catholics, then perhaps the Church should trust its parishoners to NOT take the contraception and to follow the rules.

Unfortunately, not many of them do.

I wonder what Santorum thinks about Mormons? - Serious Question nm

[ In Reply To ..]

he wouldnt mind being on the ticket - with Romney

[ In Reply To ..]
so he used the old "some say" routine to say Mormons are a cult.

JFK was Catholic. - Huh?

[ In Reply To ..]
Why would JFK be spinning in his grave? He was a Catholic, not a Protestant.

JFK had to reassure - fonzy

[ In Reply To ..]
people worrying that a catholic would allow the pope to guide his presidency. Santorum comes along and makes a statement divisive to catholics and protestants. What next Ricky dividing the Southern Baptists from the Baptists?

I agree with the poster above about religion being - removed from the equation. (sm)

[ In Reply To ..]
"Separation of Church and State" seems to have somehow been forgotten in recent years. It has NO PLACE WHATSOVER in politics or government.

It should be a PRIVATE matter, for those who practice it, and should be left at the doorstep the moment members of any congregation of any faith walk outside their respective homes or places of worship.

Faith should be a personal thing, and NOT a means of trying to control other people.
I completely agree. Since when do we have - religious leaders SM
[ In Reply To ..]
testifying to Congress about withholding health insurance on "moral objections?"
The religious leaders seem to have misunderstood - the U.S. Constitution - (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
It guarantees "freedom of religion", but that doesn't mean it's open season on ramming one's own religion's ideas about morality down everyone else's throats. Because by doing so, they are then taking away the other peoples' religious freedom.

If I'm a Protestant, and I practice birth control, I don't want the Catholic-affiliated medical institution that employs me telling me I can't have it covered by my health insurance.

And what about women who must practice birth control not because they don't want children, but because it would be dangerous for them to have them?

You always hear people complaining about government getting too big and getting into everyone's personal lives. And yet frequently, many of the same people complaining about intrusive government, practice INTRUSIVE RELIGION.

If something isn't done about that problem in our country - and SOON - all the progress women have made in the last 100 years is going to go right back to Square One.

Do not pass Go. Do not collect $100.

Religious Leaders under - Constitution better than anyone
[ In Reply To ..]
Religous leaders have a far greater understanding about religious freedom AND "THE PRACTICE THEREOF". No one ever advised anyone to stop getting birth control. According to their doctrine, they do not want THE GOVT. FORCING them to provide/pay for something in direct conflict with their faith and the pracice thereof. Pretty sad that education has been so dumbed down that most of the public have no idea what the Constitution says, nor do they understand it. By Obama's own speach 98% OF WOMEN ARE USING BIRTH CONTROL NOW....OBVIOUSLY ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH ACCESS. BTW, there is always the beloved PP that will provide whatever you want. No one stops any woman from going to PP to get everything from birth control to abortions, regardless of the reason. People will not understand what these religious leaders are saying until there is a "mandate" by the govt. that hits you where you believe. If you want birth control, NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU FROM GETTING IT OR INFRINGING ON YOU RIGHTS. Way off on the intrusive religion comment (unless you practice sharia law).

There is no mention of embryos or fetuses.

Other than that, what choices women make in family planning is theirs and theirs alone since it is personal and is NOBODY'S business.

Point #1: First off, if he really said that, that has got to be about the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Is he even a religious man? I can't even begin to tell you how stupid that statement is without getting banned.

Point #2: I think anyone running for president should keep their religious believes to themselves. If they are openly discussing their religious beliefs that means they are going to let that interfere with what is right. I'm not thrilled (in fact dread) if Romney gets in because of his religion and their purpose in life. How is that going to affect how he runs the country.

Point #3 - Your statement "prior to hiding his true believes in order to run for president". You can say that about every candidate. Even Obama. Candidates lie to get elected. Everyone knows that is a fact. I have not met a politician yet who has not lied to get elected.
