I have been cleaning up the board - Message for all

There have been way too many insults here directed at other posters.

Please stick with political topics.

For some that has been too difficult to do. If you insult posters, take the message off topic because you don't like another persons opinion your post will be removed. If you insult you will be banned. No more name calling. That means calling people stupid, haters, racists, and all the other insults that I have removed.

This board is for people to talk about political topics and their opinions about politicians and issues and other subjects of a political nature. Not calling people derogatory names.

If you don't want to get banned then don't call people names or ridicule. If you don't like certain posters then don't read their messages.

And anyone disagreeing with another persons opinion about politics and politicians is not a reason for me to remove the other persons post. Everyone has the same right to voice their opinion on what they think regarding politics or politicians. If you don't have a thick skin then don't read the messages.

And do not report a message screaming at me or demanding that I remove a post. If you do the post will remain up.

Please do not report posts just because you don't like what the other persons opinion is. Many posts are being reported that should not be.

Please stick to issues. That is what the board is for...issues. Leave your personal feelings for posters off the board.

Not everyone is going to agree with everything, but I'm hoping that everyone can respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I don't understand why some people can't or won't tolerate other people's differing opinions. Whichever side someone is on, they only hurt their own party's reputation by being meanspirited. Let's be grownups and agree to disagree.

Why is there a politics board and a faith board on a website that is supposed to be dedicated to medical transcription? We've all been told that religion and politics are hot button topics not to be discussed in the workplace, and you should know that on these subjects people are easily offended and the nature of the discussion does cause people to say inappropriate things. It is difficult to avoid reading certain posts because people post under different names all the time. This is off topic, but why can't everyone be assigned a user name and password similar to other sites that they use to log in? This site is open to everyone and there seem to be absolutely no restrictions other than you choosing what you consider to be appropriate or inappropriate and banning people. By the same token, it is not fair for others to determine what they consider to be appropriate and request to have messages removed and have people banned. We all have a right to free speech.

I thought perhaps the prior "vote" had resulted - in no moderation-which was pleasant

I don't think posts need to be moderated unless there is foul language or threat of bodily harm, obvious infractions. As to the childish, silly name-calling and devolution into meaningless comments, leave them, they fade off on their own, or people use them to vent from other issues in their life--like JOB STRESS.

By leaving them, you get the true sense of people, which I would prefer than someone with an extremely measured response. We're not running for election here!

I don't come here to be told that I'm stupid, ignorant, a racist, hateful, unpatriotic, etc, etc. I want to talk about politics and what is going on. I want to read other posts of things people have found that I did not know about. I don't care whether or not I agree with it, but I and others should not be subjected to a whole slew of personal attacks (most likely by the same individual). Now if I write something and someone tells me they think that is total BS, I can live with that. If they tell me after I write something that is garbage I can deal with that. If they go after me personally and call me retarded, stupid, hateful, a racist, unpatriotic, etc that goes past reasonable and nobody no matter what side (or no side) they agree with should not be subjected to that kind of abuse.

The problem is, a certain few posters are - allowed to be as abusive as they want.

I learned a long time ago that everyone's opinion is as important as the other persons opinion whether or not you agree. My parents taught me that while you may not agree with someone there is never any reason to be abusive towards them. Everyone opinion is as important to them as mine is to me. My DH also taught me that no matter what I believe I could very well be wrong. Lately I find that I am wrong on a lot of issues, mostly because I may not always have all the facts about something until later, or maybe after he explains things (he's more political smart than I am), so can't even tell you how many times I've said I've been wrong about something. Even he admits that he is wrong about things once he gets more information. He says he cannot understand why some people (he mainly refers to his family) cannot even say the words "I was wrong about this or that". They believe they are always right and never wrong. I don't understand why. Instead they try to change the subject so they don't have to admit it. One time he was having a "loud" conversation on the phone and he said to her "why can't you say you were wrong, now that you have the facts". Finally he dragged it out of her. LOL

I cannot understand why some people feel it is necessary to call other people names. Politicians is one thing because of what they are doing to us, but for people here to call others all the names (and what I listed is not even half of what people call others here). I think deep down we all want the same things...good jobs, decent healthcare, a home, good education for our kids and a roof over our heads. Years ago, maybe about 6 or so years ago I used to have some very good conversations with posters who agreed with the political party I didn't agree with. The conversations were very stimulating, nobody yelling at anyone calling each other names, and I even changed my viewpoint on certain issues.

I do miss those kinds of conversations here. Now I'm just called a slew of nasty names including senile and something so vile I will not repeat it. Hopefully the trolls have moved on to other sites.

Well, made a huge Thanksgiving dinner (and I have to admit the oven hadn't been cleaned in a few weeks before that) and cleaned the oven today. The topics on this board can be very inflammatory and sensitive. In general, you need to be able to control your emotions. There will be heated discussions at times, but civility can be maintained. Issues can be discussed without resorting to name calling, insults, or foul language. I have just deleted an entire thread of a message talking about hate and racism directed towards one party. I do not want to believe a poster posted just to get an argument going with name calling of the other side, but that is what the entire thread turned into. I am in the process of cleaning up the board. I have not finished yet. I have been deleting posts from all sides (that is both conservative and liberal). Stop insulting/ridiculing posters. Everytime I remove an insult another comes up. If you don’t agree that is fine, simply state why in a logical and adult fashion.
