The economy is on the rebound, and we are getting closer and closer to health care reform. I couldn't be happier with what President Obama has accomplished in such a short time!

Unemployment continues to rise, and this health bill is a mess. - Please see reality..and bill fails in senate.nm

Please do a little research before posting....the economy is NOT getting better, unless you think 10.2% unemployment is a GOOD thing. Of course, if you voted for Dear Leader (PBUH), you must be a few fries short of a Happy Meal in the first place, so I guess research would be a bit too much to expect.

It is you who needs to study - how

the economy rebounds in stages. Ugly ugly ugly words you use. tsk tsk tsk.
Economy - AzRain
[ In Reply To ..]
So the economy rebounds in stages? THAT'S the official Obama-roid line now? Don't you remember a few months back when we were told we HAD to pass the stimulus bill NOW, time was of the essence, and if we didn't, well then unemployment would - gasp! - go above 8%. Funny, I didn't hear ANYTHING about stages of the rebound then. Bambi said his team of "economic advisors" was seeing data that nobody else was privy to and the crisis was averted. I guess you must be smoking the same crap he is!
Not hearing - NJ

If you don't understand stages of recession/depression/inflation/rebound then you don't understand economics. It's not a new thing and Obama didn't make it up. Links explaining the process as it has historically unfolded have been posted numerous times.

NJ
So it sounds to me.... - AzRain
[ In Reply To ..]
like these stages are inevitable. If that's the case, why do we even need Bambi interfering? Maybe if the government would have stayed out of it, things would have worked themselves out and we wouldn't be trillions in debt.
Naming something makes it inevitable? - NJ
[ In Reply To ..]
You make wild leaps of (il)logic.

Let's say a person has illness A. There are certain stages to that illness and to the recovery from it. Untreated, it can be devastating. With proper medical care, one can return to a normal life but not in an instant.

Naming the stages of that disease doesn't mean it shouldn't be treated.

There are articles about how we could reach beyond 11% by next summer. A rebound? How much debt do we have in our country? Another 1.2 trillion with Obama Health care already added on to our deficit?

Shoot, before you know it, China is going to buy our country out or better yet, a bunch of countries will get together and buy United States.

From what I am hearing, some people in our country have had enough and feel unrest in this country, especially if this Health Care goes through. Some people are buying property out in the country away from people in case a civil war breaks out in our own country. It will be civilians against Government.

Others feel like this country has no more freedom and has turned to socialism. I thought the pilgrims left to come to the USA for freedom. I have been hearing a lot of people are thinking of leaving the socialist USA like the pilgrims left to get away from unrest of this country and move to places like New Zealand for freedom. I guess Australia is out of the question since they do know what is going on in the USA and do not want anymore new comers.

WASHINGTON - It hurts more to be unemployed now than the last time the jobless rate hit 10 percent.

Americans have more than triple the debt they had in 1982, and less than half the savings. They spend 10 weeks longer off the job. And a bigger share of them have no health insurance, leaving them one medical emergency away from financial ruin.

For these reasons, the unemployed are more vulnerable today to foreclosure and bankruptcy than they were a generation ago.

I could not honestly tell you whether or not I think it will be passed. I think Obama and his thugs got to the people. This bu!! about hurry up and pass it cos it will be good for my image is just a bunch of s*%t. He cares more about his image than he does the people of the country.

It didn't surprise me that it passed. One more validation the politicians in congress don't care about the people of America or what they (the people of America) want. And it also didn't surprise me because they passed the spendulous plan. No matter what the people of the country wanted.

I also read that over 200 politicians in congress are all multimillionaires. No wonder why they don't give a crap about us. They think they are kings and queens up there. It's the largest group of overgrown children.

The ones who voted for this largest taxation plan in American history...well hope they are starting to pack up their offices. 2010 can't come soon enough.

I will hope and pray for all of America that it gets stopped in the senate.

Very very disappointed to see that congress has shown us they don't care about us. Very disappointing indeed.

Are you people dense or just dishonest?

WE ARE SPENDING MORE TO TREAT PEOPLE THROUGH THE E.R. What part of that simple, but true, statement did not register with you?

Not only CAN we afford the bill, but COULD HAVE AND SHOULD HAVE a long time ago - and good Americans DIED horrible deaths simply for lack of access to timely, affordable health care.

How many on here screaming about health care reform have NO insurance? How many?

Public Option boogie man - NJ

[ In Reply To ..]
People are so concerned with the public option they ignore the rest of the reforms. Even when they complain about the length of the bill *laughs*

The reform will help virtually everyone on this board whether they want it to or not. And they do want it, they just don't understand it.

I find the reasoning about the bills left to our children particularly dense. The health care system as it was would have bankrupted this country but the opponents of reform didn't mind passing that on to the kids.

It's the public option that gets them going. They must be thinking that someone, somewhere is going to get something for free and it's not them so they gotta scream bloody murder. They're so wrapped up in not being able to get something for nothing that they'd let the whole system go done the drain.

Silly people.

The reason the costs went up in ER is due to people who love suing others. - Petunia

[ In Reply To ..]
Years ago, the me, me, me's went sue crazy and lawyers love it. People were suing for millions like that McDonald incident who spilled coffee on their lap and sued for millions. Because of lawyers and the me, me, me's, they jacked up the insurance rates and cost of health care.

By the way, I do not hear anything about lawyers protesting this Obama care. They sure are keeping their mouths shut. Sounds like more money, money in their pockets if this health care goes through.

Secondly, she deserved *at most*, $1,000 for P&S but more likely, about $150.

Nobody said anything about a "fake war" - try and stay with us here - get a grip

[ In Reply To ..]
You don't approve of the war, fine. That is for a different topic. We're talking about health care and how the congress has shown once more they give a crap about the American people.

Yea, we ARE treating too many unnecessary cases in the ER. You know what, it's just not uninsured. I typed a report for a lady who brought her daughter to the ER because she had a reddish tint to her thigh (after she had just gotten out of the hot shower). No fever, no chills, no aches, the spot didn't hurt. Something she should have waited to see her regular doctor for. And this lady HAS insurance. It's not just uninsured people who go to the ER. People go to the ER for every little excuse and that is not going to change.

You must from another country because you certainly do not know the financial crisis our country is in and NO we CANNOT afford the bill. It is going to bankrupt our country. You all scream and shout it should have been done a long time ago. Yeah it should have been, but even Billy boy and algore did nothing. And my god man (or woman), nobody died simply for lack of insurance. How many times does that have to be explained. Here's a newsflash for you. People with excellent health insurance also die. My mom had the best insurance and she died.

Of course America wants health care reform, America just does not want what they are trying to shove down our throats. And for a system that is SO BAD even they refuse to join it. Not ONE of them!!!! If it was so "great" they'd be first to sign up, but they are staying as far away from it is possible. Gotta tell you something there how bad it is.

So I say to you "Are you people dense or just dishonest?" I do believe it's the latter...no the first one...no the latter...Heck it's just both for "you people".
Too simplistic. It is true that even people...sm - oldtimer

with insurance die, as we all must at some time; but the uninsured low and middle class in our society who do not have insurance and who get sick die in much higher numbers than do people who are insured and under the care of a physician because they can afford insurance.
You are crazy if you think no one has ever died from lack of insurance - mm
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, people with insurance die as well. However, there are millions of people who do not seek the health care they need because they don't have insurance so, when they die, gee...why would that be? BECAUSE THEY HAD NO INSURANCE. WAKE UP!
There are exceptions to everything, but people are not being refused - treatment. Prove me wrong(without lying).nm

It's the cost - the cost
[ In Reply To ..]
THE COST. They don't go to the doctor because of the cost. They don't get checkups or medications they need because of the cost and when you have to choose between paying a doctor and buying groceries, etc. guess what? These people work. They work, but cannot afford insurance. If they did not work, they would qualify for Medicaid/be on public assistance right? It has nothing to do with being refused healthcare.
BRAVO! That's exactly what it is. Great post! (nm) - Nikki
[ In Reply To ..]
/
But it has everything to do with being refused healthcare - just me
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if you have, but a lot of other posters always post they they thousands and thousands of people are dying simply because they didn't have health insurance and were refused treatment at all these hospitals. That's what this whole issue is about. But now since nobody can find any factual stories of anyone in America who died simply because they were refused health care because they had no insurance, now it's not that???? Can you explain why it was before, but now that there are no facts to back that up and all the hospitals are saying they don't refuse people health care, now it's the cost.

As for the cost issue. There are a lot of people who have money who also do not go to the doctor or seek the care they need ahead of time because they don't believe it's serious enough. I type so many reports each day of people who say they didn't come in sooner because they didn't think it was serious and they wanted to treat it at home. Then when everything they try fails they then go to the doctor.
ACUTE health care is what is not refused - one more - try
[ In Reply To ..]
Let me rephrase. It has nothing to do with being refused ACUTE health care. ACUTE health care is what no one is refused. You must already know this?

If you choose not to go to the doctor, then that's your right and there are of course people who choose not to, assuming these people are insured; there's no problem. There are people in this group who can afford insurance who don't buy it and end up costing the rest of us.

There are people who are refused certain treatments because they cannot afford insurance, cannot pay up front, and do not meet guidelines for help; not to mention necessary medication they can't afford. These are well-known facts. These are working tax-paying citizens.

Now, which group do you think should NOT carry insurance? We're already paying for the people who are too lazy to work. This group is already covered.

Health maintenance, screenings, maintenance medications.....the tools available to help us avoid catastrophic health care costs are unaffordable to those who cannot afford insurance. It's THE COST.

If you want to argue about a group that chooses not to go to the doctor, (chooses not to pay for insurance), they can still choose not to go to the doctor, but they won't end up taking advantage of a hospital and physicians who can't refuse them acute care, borrowing from nonprofit institutions, filing bankruptcy, driving up costs, i.e. taking advantage of the rest of us.

It would be fine for folks to opt not to carry insurance, a right, a choice; but then they should be refused acute care unless they can pay up front, it only makes sense. If a person can pay for insurance, chooses not to, then they must pay up front or not be treated acutely or otherwise. Of course, this cannot happen. Can you picture a victim of a serious accident being turned away? Can you also imagine the bills that accident victim will accumulate?

So, unless hospitals start turning away the uninsured, we will continue to be taken advantage of by people who "choose" not to purchase health care insurance, and the working poor in the same category; however, not by choice, unless we have affordable insurance and a law that everyone must carry it.
Show the proof - please provide some news story - links proving your point
[ In Reply To ..]
How about something to back up your story. And no not an article saying such-n-such a number of people have up and died because of no insurance (i.e. Cause of death: No insurance).

Provide a news story. Surely if you believe all these stories about all these people dying because they had no health insurance you can come up with a couple news stories throughout the country of someone who died because they didn't have health insurance.

Proof please to back up your claim.

The FAKE war is NOT a different topic - get a grip AND a clue

The FAKE war cost us HUNDREDS of billions of wasted tax dollars and it is DEFINITELY relevant when we have a group of rightnuts suggesting we CAN'T afford health care for U.S. but funding an illegal immoral war is just hunky dorie.

Deal with it - It's so far past time we spent MONEY WE HAVE on the people of the United States who need health care it's criminal!

We CAN afford it, it's the alternative WE CANNOT afford.
blah, blah, blah - get a grip
[ In Reply To ..]
Just who are in this "fake" war of yours...Homer Simpson, Bart, King of the Hill? How bout Big bird and Oscar. Maybe Kermit and Miss Piggy. May they have joined this "fake" war you speak of.

Last I new it was a real war. Real people fighting. As they are getting shot at and blown up I'm sure they don't think it's fake. I'm sure it's pretty real to them.

You've got the war, and the funds that are supposed to be going to the war, but instead congress has diverted the funds to go to themselves and once again are screwing our brave soldiers.

Yeah, the war should not have happened. Too much money has gone to it. I don't like it one bit, but rest assured, it is not fake....it is every bit real. I want our soldiers, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters, mothers and fathers to come home safely. Unfortunately Dear Leader won't do what he promised.

Dear Leader and his comrades have created 10 trillion dollar deficit since being in (less than 1 year). You whine about Bush's 1 trillion? Well guess what. It's now over 10 trillion. If he and the thugs would stop spending unnecessary money then and only then could we afford a decent health care plan for the people of America.

But he put us 10 trillion in debt, another 1.2 trillion if this farce of an idiotic pelosi-care plan passes. Then on top of that it won't cover everyone so they'll need to have a second plan and get more money for that. Now I hear they are talking about Stimulous II (i.e. spendulous) cos the first one wasn't enough, they want more), they continues to spend billions on a war that he said shouldn't have been started. But guess it's okay cos your guy is in there. If congress would stop spending all of our money and QUIT PRINTING MONEY THEY DON'T HAVE, then yes we could afford something.

Why don't you learn about the largest economic/financial crisis we are in right now since the great depression. People unemployed, more people each day losing their jobs, people losing their homes, people starving in this country, etc. If you would learn the truth about the state of our economy then maybe you could talk about something.

We can NOT afford it. The alternative is to come up with a better plan. This one sucks!!!

I didn't say the Iraq 'war' was MAKE BELIEVE or a figment of the imagination!

I said it was FAKE - meaning people were totally scammed as to the justification - the reasons given - for starting military action. It was a manufactured military action to advance an economic agenda.

and I got a news bulletin for you - not only did Hussein agree to surrender AND LEAVE Iraq before we invaded, but we KNEW they could not defend themselves when we started the massacre. It's hardly a 'WAR' when you invade a country that cannot defend itself - it's an invasion.

You clearly do not understand what US foreign policy is, how the budget for same is OBSCENE and how we most DEFINITELY can afford health care reform.

But you keep swallowing the pablum FOX et al dishes up. It matters not to me.

even with the public option in place. And, I would have no problem with contributing tax dollars, if it came to that, to make sure that my child and his children, and other people and their children could get decent health care if and when they needed it. I think it is totally American to look after each other in times of need, even if it means giving up a little. Just my personal opinion.

Health Care Vote in Senate - Backwards typist

[ In Reply To ..]
I doubt it will pass the way it stands. It will mean a tax on the millionaires. Do you really think they're going to stand for it? I doubt it, and the rich hold the cards in their favor.

Plus the so-called tax credit for those that buy health insurance. What about the people who don't have a job? How will they afford it? If they don't have a job, they can't buy insurance. How is a tax credit going to help them? They have to claim it on their income tax. How would that help them?

If they're not working, how do they pay the fine for not having insurance?

The only thing good I see about this plan is the pre-existing condition part and the no public funds to be used for abortion.

I honestly quit reading the durn thing because of all the changes and the growth.

Lastly, I think Pelosi should go back to Mars. She stated it was a bipartisan vote....because 1 'pub voted for it? That's bipartisan? She didn't even quote the numbers right.

I'd like to see what happens to the 'pub who voted for it next election. Didn't hear his name mentioned, but I'm going to look it up.

Agree with you about the only good parts of the bill. - And Pelosi, oh what a sickening phony she is.nm

* Will take months and months to get the tests we need if a government official will approve it, and of course that will dependent on how young we are.

* Our taxes will be higher.

* Our country will be bankrupt.

* Congress will continue to stay as far away from the crap-care as they can.

* It won't cover anyone, but it will cover illegals.
