Lower down on the board there is a discussion of education. In one of my posts I mentioned parallels between Trump and the fascist dictators of WWII, mainly that they had high approval ratings by their followers before their demise. She stated she didn't know about WWII. Assuming she is an adult, what does that say about our educational system?

[ In Reply To ..]today. They aren't interested in learning about history. They are interested in texting their friends. The education system still teaches about history, WWII and more. My son graduated recently and we had many discussions about things in history he learned about. The problem is not the education system but the fact that kids don't want to learn about things like that.

Don't know where your son went to school but apparently they did a better job than some institutions. A few years ago there was a survey in one of the major colleges and the students there had never heard of the holocaust and didn't even know the word.

[ In Reply To ..]are ESL. So many American kids aren't well enough educated, and moreso, don't have the discipline to go through a long course of medical school, internship and so on. As you say, they would rather text their friends.
Because they are educated by their own countries and come to the US - because they can make more money.

I am an adult, a baby boomer. My father served in WWII.
What I wonder about WWII: Do we really have all the history or the correct history? Maybe this is a question we should be asking.
