Does anyone else find the fervor surrounding PIPA/SOPA ironic ?

Our senators and represanted are so concerned with passing SOPA and PIPA to protect against the piracy of copyrighted materials such as music and movies - which isn't really that big of a problem - and yet not one senator or rep seems at all outraged at the idea that medical records of American citizens being offshored to third world countries. They want to censor internet searches to block foreign websites that cannot be monitored and are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, yet find no problem with sending protected health information to foreign countries that are not under the jurisdiction of the HIPAA laws?
If you are writing your congressman in protest of the above bills, maybe include that little contradiction in your letters.

SOPA is off the table for now but will be resurrected later in some other form. PIPA is still problematic.
