Family served with arrest warrants for cheering their graduate. Okay, we've all seen it, where we wish someone wasn't as outgoing as they are, but really, arrest warrants?

Agree. When I graduated, people just clapped for an appropriate period of time. I agree with you. Parents these days don't follow the rules, so why should the kids? Nobody needs to steal someone else's thunder.

cheering, hooting and hollering, I don't see the problem. As far as parents not following the rules, guess what - I'm the parent, not a student. The teachers, superintendent, principals, librarian, custodian, lunch lady, etc. are not the boss of me. My taxes pay their salaries. So when my kid graduates, if I feel like hootin and hollerin, cheering, clapping, and doing a freakin' jig in the aisle, I will do it. Short of setting off fireworks inside the school, using an obnoxious air horn or firing my gun in the air, I think I have a right to celebrate my kid's accomplishments. Once my kid has walked across the stage and I've gotten all my pictures taken, I'll shut up, sit down, and let the next set of disobedient parents celebrate.

at my son's graduation. Rude people yelling, screaming as their child went across the stage, then stood up and left instead of respecting other people who wanted to watch their child. Standing, talking, screaming, blocking the view to the stage. The kids couldn't even do the recessional because there was such a crowd in the back of the auditorium. I'm glad this superintendent has the guts to do something about it.

At my son's HS graduation, had a family with air horns in the row in front of us. Signs all over the stadium say NO AIR HORNS. Jail time maybe not, but a dollar fine would be appropriate.

There's someone disliking the posts that are not for all the hootin' and hollerin'. He or she must be one of the rude one's in the crowd with a bullhorn or other type horn.

And that was at a military graduation. Yeah, they were told not to yell out. Big deal. The video is the extent of the "hootin' and hollerin'" as you put it, and it was nothing.

They were told those making noise would be asked to leave. That family were not, but they were served with papers weeks later for disturbing the peace. Absolute and total BS, that's why I disliked it.

I do not find anything about this that deserved that kind of treatment is all. It could have easily been any one of us proud of our child saying "You did it, baby!"

Try listening with your own ears. Maybe there was more to it, but this particular incident just does not sound bad to me.

is you have police officers willingly and gleefully giving out stupid tickets like the one above when there are actual crimes going on all around them. Rather than actually do their jobs, they prefer to generate revenue for whatever municipality signs their paychecks by giving bogus tickets just so the city can collect a hefty fine from otherwise hardworking, law abiding citizens. It is completely STUPID!

I lived in a small town where that is exactly all the police did. Protect and serve the community, my rear end!

A couple of years ago, I was knocked down and kicked by my now ex-husband. He was drunk and belligerent. The police were called. They made him leave the house, but did not arrest him - DID NOT EVEN CHARGE HIM. Gave him a warning and sent him on his way! When I pressed them, they said they didn't have a way to hold him and that they would turn the case over to the county and if the prosecutor decided to pursue, they would arrest him which would take a month or so because the prosecutor was sooooooo busy.

But a week later an officer came back to my house and gave me a summons to appear in court because I had a broken down car parked in my driveway and the tags had expired (which was my ex-husband's little project). Apparently I was in violation of a city ordinance that states you can't park a disabled or unlicensed vehicle on your own flipping property. I got the ticket cuz I answered the door!

Tell me that makes sense! It would not surprise me in the least if I get a summons for cheering too loudly at my daughter's 8th grade graduation a couple of weeks ago! IDIOTS! No wonder people have no respect for cops!

I know so many of us are looking for jobs. I am disabled (not legally) its too hard to be totally broke and homeless for a year or two in order to get disability (which is basically what you have to do).
