Did you hear about this?

I know a lot of you don't like Fox or Bill O'Reilly, but his talking point memo was eye opening. Please watch even if you don't like him...

Eye opening how? - BillyJoe

Once the state department found out about her tweets they appropriately withdrew her honor.

The only thing eye opening about the link you posted was Bill O'Really fanning the flames of hatred and disention in our country amongst its citizens. At least he had no spittle flying from his mouth this time.

That is not true. You obviously don't even - watch O'Reilly...it is clear.

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like the way he interrupts guests too often, but he tries to get to the bottom of things,, the truth. Seems the left cannot handle the truth most of the time.

He can't even get to the truth - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
about how the tides work. I will admit, I prefer O'Reilly to almost anyone else at Fox, but he follows the network's bottom line to make money and feed paranoia and distrust through deception. MSNBC does the same, but slower and boring. At least Fox News spices up most of their "journalism" with guests who threaten random violence, holy wars and global apocalypses while the host gushes about how great they are and how while they in no way officially associate themselves with the guest's fringe movement, it's 100% correct.

See, the problem with the Fox News truth as opposed to the truth, is that the only information they accept serves their own agenda. Any information contradictory to their stated goals is disregarded. Any information, no matter how tenuous the source, that furthers their goals is canonized. It would be like if I wanted to prove the sky was green. Someone says "I'm looking at the sky, it's blue." My response "Your eyes are biased." So I interview a known radical of the green sky movement who agrees with me and I say that it's proof. Moreover, this guy has brought on a scientific study that his movement performed that proves without a doubt that the sky is green based on asking other members of the movement their opinion. So now that I've established reality, I have to go about tearing down anyone who would dare question the "truth." Anyone who says the sky is blue clearly hates America, hates God and is a communist. Because if I'm a good guy and you disagree with me, that means you must be a bad guy. When a concerted the-sky-really-is-blue movement gets started, then it's time for me to play the persecuted minority. Oh, woe is me, for the general populace are now blue sky heathens. They are persecuting me by failing to adopt my beliefs, since my core belief is that all other people must believe as I do.

See, that's how I view Fox News. They are angry because not everyone sees the world as they do. I'm fine if they think the sky is green. Who am I to argue what another set of eyes might be seeing? The problem is that live and let live is not part of their ideology.

I distrust any news source whose agenda is always proven right. It's statistically improbable. I would like to see all Democratic politicians to be the paragons of liberalism whose virtue is uncompromised and whose honor is exemplary. Yet they are not. The disparity between what I want to see and what actually happens is Grand Canyon wide. I'd like to see more journalism and less ideological dreaming on both sides of the news spectrum. For that matter, there shouldn't be sides of the news spectrum. When did facts and evidence become right or left? Oh, yeah, after corporations killed journalism.
Another amazing essay. - Thank you (nm)

Always nice to know other people enjoy my ramblings:)

I've actually wanted to start my own blog for a while now. Blogs really are perfect for people like me who can't shut up. Plus, I've never made a website, so it would be an interesting new experience.

Luckily, I'm egotistical enough that I've actually saved many of my old posts (along with any other interesting posts from those threads) after a whole thread was deleted when it turned into a 20-way screaming match. Since I never know what will become a controversy, best to save anything I find interesting. That sentiment, of course, in a constant struggle with my natural laziness/forgetfulness.

Let me suggest wordpress.com. They're easy to use and have a lot of personalization options, and they encourage and help their bloggers to network if they want to. I don't, much - I figure nobody wants to read my brain droppings; I blog just to move stuff out of my head. :)

Let me know if you start one - I'll follow it.

I believe poster meant John Kerry - as referenced in your post
[ In Reply To ..]
To which countries is John Kerry saying America is stupid?
Germany. Unless of course you have some inside info - that Germans are from another country
[ In Reply To ..]

The articles states - "Newly minted Secretary of State John Kerry told a German audience Tuesday that Americans have a right to be stupid. Not that they are stupid, mind you, but that they have the right to be if they "want to be"

I even bolded the word German, to give you a clue that the country he was talking to is Germany.

Again, he said "Americans have a right to be stupid. Not that they are stupid, mind you, but that they have the right to be if they "want to be" - Er, Mr. Kerry you just did call Americans stupid.  Can't back out of that one.

If I told you you had the right to be stupid, then I'd be saying you are stupid and have that right to be.  Same thing.

does that chip on your shoulder make you walk in circles? - doe
[ In Reply To ..]
Completely unnecessary snark. I'd love to see someone on the left try to get away with that kind of post. Kerry was specifically referring to America's First Amendment right to have Nazi parades and KKK conventions. (I capped first amendment for you to "give you a clue".)

I'm sorry for your massive comprehension fail regarding what Kerry said. But I hereby defend your right to be as stupid as you like.

brief article sheds light on the actual statement made (versus the out-of-context interpretation provided by Sarge).

no, Mr. Kerry is not saying we are stupid... - doe

[ In Reply To ..]
That's not what Mr. Kerry said. Tee hee. I know it's fun to drop these unsubstantiated little bombshells. Fortunately, referencing them is quite simple.

In fact (not that facts matter - it's just a figure of speech), Mr. Kerry was speaking about the first amendment. I thought you liked the constitution.

Of course it is - - The Sarge - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Telling other countries we have "the right to be stupid" IS telling other countries certain Americans (of course not the group he associates with) are in fact stupid. Otherwise he would not have said it "of course not saying they are". OF COURSE he is saying we are. Do you think he's talking about himself or the democrat party? No of course not, only the opposing party "has the right to be stupid". That's one of those huge "what the you know what" moments.

So "tee-hee" yourself. This is not a laughing matter that Kerry tells another country that Americans are stupid (i.e. has the right to be stupid). YOU DON'T DO THAT!!! I don't recall JFK or Reagan or Bush or even Bill Clinton or anyone in their parties telling other countries that certain Americans are stupid. YOU JUST DON'T DO THAT!!! What the heck is wrong with him and anyone who agrees to tell other countries that certain people in the country are stupid (only the ones who agree with the first Amendment. Not only did he tell them Americans are stupid but he was also saying the first amendment is stupid.

Of course I like the first Amendment. Nice try....NOT. What I don't like is someone who is supposed to represent the country telling other countries we have the right (i.e. we are) stupid. Yeah, just what other countries need to hear. A ***************** telling them that certain Americans are stupid under the guise of saying we have the right to be stupid.

If he was actually talking about the first amendment then he would have said in America all Americans have the right to freedom of speech, freedom to practice any religion, the right to peacefully assemble and the right to petition the government. Not "they have the right to be stupid". So he thinks the first amendment is stupid?. No, he was calling Americans stupid. Defending him because people think that those that don't agree with them are "stupid" is the most ignorant thing I've heard heard/read (not saying you are ignorant, mind you, but that they have the right to be ignorant - to quote John Kerry). But then again you knew exactly that is what he meant. Did he come out and say people in my party have the right to be stupid. No of course not, even though he is who he was referring to. WHAT A STUPID STATEMENT FOR HIM TO MAKE! Yeah, he knew exactly what he was saying "tee-hee". THAT'S? what they picked? What an embarrassment to our country.

You need to take those blinders off that you spoke about. Even a blind person in their right mind knows exactly what he was talking about.
I agree wholeheartedly. I've always thought (sm) - LM

John Kerry was stupid. He proved it with this remark. This whole administration is an embarrassment - but they're too stupid to even know it.
Americans ARE stupid compared to - a lot of other countries.

That is incorrect - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Are you talking about yourself? You aren't talking about me and a lot of people I know. Just which Americans do you think are "stupid". You are lumping everyone into one bucket. While there may be some less educated people in the country you cannot say Americans are stupid. In fact I just read some blog by a German guy who said Germans are more stupid compared to Americans. Just because there are a some uneducated people in America does not mean everyone is. Maybe you can speak for yourself, but you don't speak for me and many others. Besides, even if there were YOU DON'T TELL OTHER COUNTRIES THERE ARE!
It's not incorrect. - Asian students are much

more advanced than American students. It's just a fact. You don't have to like it, but pretending it's not true doesn't help anything.

Asians are also less fat. I wonder if there's a correlation there.
