Cool. For those of you arguing that corporate isn't paying taxes

Posted: Apr 11, 2011

The WH has graciously placed some charts on this website:

Table 2.2 has the receipts from individual and corporate taxes paid from 1934 to present.

There are plenty of other graphs if you want to spend the time.

I haven't been saying that none of them do, but some - who make enormous profits don't pay taxes

Most probably do pay, using as many legal loopholes as possible, just as individuals do. It's the ones who make huge profits and abuse those loopholes, and particularly the ones who abuse the loopholes, pay zero taxes, and get subsidies. That is a major thing I would like to see changed.

Not gonna happen when Obama puts one of - the biggest abusers as

an advisor...GE CEO, made big bonuses, offshored half their labor, and got tax refund this year even though they made profits. Why on EARTH would he want to reward the kind of behavior he then turns around and pans...oh well, same old same old. GE a big contributor to his campaign, as was Goldman Sachs...you remember Goldman sachs, big wall street company we bailed out in the billions? I believe Goldman Sachs was #2 on the campaign contribution list. Ahem.

Contrary To GOP Claims, U.S. Has Second Lowest Corporate Taxes In The Developed WorldJul 06, 2011
During negotiations regarding raising the nation’s debt limit, congressional Republicans have defended tax loopholes for corporations, claiming that America has a high corporate tax rate that is stifling economic growth and job creation. But the Center for Tax Justice (CTJ) has crunched the most recent data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Office of Management and Budget, and the Census Bureau, and finds that “the U.S. is already ...

No More Corporate Welfare!Apr 08, 2011
I know it's not realistic to think that we could ever get to the point where people would pay the taxes they are supposed to pay, but that would solve our budget problems and nobody would go hungry. The middle class would have more money to spend and we would buy things from the big companies who make them. We would all save money because we would be driving on better roads, not tearing our cars apart, children will be getting a better education and not have to move in with their parents wh ...

Time For A Corporate SpringMay 26, 2012
A common complaint in today’s world is one of disconnection. Our industrialized world has resulted in less contact with community — we don’t know our neighbors or who grows our food. In the same way that we’ve lost touch with a deeper sense of belonging and place, many of us have become disconnected from the soul of our work. The corporation-worker structure today is a master-servant relationship. We’re slaves to the company, working longer hours for less wage ...

Trying To Keep My Cool, Need AdviceAug 01, 2013
I feel the need to preface my dilemma with the following introduction, because I don't want the haters and trolls to get on me about the slight strangeness of the circumstances.   I have this very young friend, a 14-year-old girl who goes to school with my son.  To others it may (but to me it does not) seem strange that I am describing this relationship as a friendship, as I am much, much older than her, but it is.  She thinks she's a thug, I don't.  She thin ...

Even the New Republic called the Democratic National Convention 'one big corporate bribe,’ as Trump-phobic donors threw in big money. Corporate interests and influences have gained a great deal of ground in the Democratic Party under Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. For example, Clinton’s 2008 campaign co-chair, former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz rescinded a DNC ban enacted by Barack Obama in 2008 on donations from lobbyists and SuperPACS. Liberals Lose Their Cool In The Supreme Court Fight Over ObamacareNov 18, 2014
On Nov. 7, the Supreme Court said it would entertain the latest legal assault on President Obama’s health-reform program. Leading liberal analysts worry—reasonably—that the justices will cripple Obamacare. Unfortunately, these defenders of the program are making their case by preemptively accusing right-leaning members of the high court of bad faith and rank partisanship. Paul Krugman of Princeton and the New York Times has has called the argument that a sy ...
