Bank and Corporate Political Contribution History
Posted: May 6, 2015
There was some debate below about whether America's biggest bankers supported Republicans or Democrats, so I looked it up myself.
The link below is the "Top Organization Contributor" list from the site "opensecrets.org". It is a bipartisan organization that was founded in 1983 by U.S. Sens. Frank Church (D-Idaho) and Hugh Scott (R-Pa.) and publishes its work tracking money in politics in extensive reports; at first via books, now via the internet.
I cannot guarantee its legitimacy, but it has been cited or praised by publications in both conservative and liberal realms, such as Forbes, Bloomberg, The National Review and The Columbia Journalism Review, but completely ignored/snubbed by other publications.
Lending them credibility, you might be surprised at the actual dollar amounts given to which party, by which banks and companies, as I was. Goldman Sachs, though color-coded "gray" for neutral/equal contribution to both parties, has given slightly more ($4000) to Democrats (and their CEO since 2006, Lloyd Blankfein, is a Democrat).
Otherwise, it appears most contributions from the large commercial and investment banks, though also "gray" for neutral/equal contribution, have given $2000 to %10,000 more to the Republican Party (JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America.
The American Bankers Association itself, however, is coded pink for predominantly Republican contributions.
To me, the sheer dollar amounts some companies gave to politics was astounding.
The figures are "all cycles", but there is an option to choose/limit the years.
Here is the URL:

***Note: When I try to paste the URL in the URL/Link box below, it keeps telling me there's no "http", but there is? I will try again and if still doesn't work, I'll try image link box.
If you have trouble, please copy/paste the URL above or Google for opensecrets.org, go to that site and choose by tab search. Again, this list is "Top Organization Contributions", but you can also choose contributions by politician:)

Bank Taxes?Jan 16, 2010Okay..so President Obama wants to start having taxes for the banks because he feels that these banks should pay back us taxpayers because we bailed them out. Now...how smart is that considering that the banks are going to pass those taxes onto us and so basically taxpayers will be paying the taxes of the banks so the banks can pay the taxpayers back. Now does that make a whole heck of a lot of sense!!!!? Sheesh. The only reason we bailed certain banks out anyway is becaus ...

Bank QuestionMar 20, 2014I have a question. I haven't had a bank account in YEARS, because I just use a payroll card and have been quite happy with it. I was finally deciding to save some money though, so went and opened a savings account. I received a letter in the mail saying that my savings account had been debited $71.00 because I owed an old bill with the same bank I had gotten the savings account through. I had a checking account with them back in 2007, but ended up closing my account ...

No More Corporate Welfare!Apr 08, 2011I know it's not realistic to think that we could ever get to the point where people would pay the taxes they are supposed to pay, but that would solve our budget problems and nobody would go hungry. The middle class would have more money to spend and we would buy things from the big companies who make them. We would all save money because we would be driving on better roads, not tearing our cars apart, children will be getting a better education and not have to move in with their parents wh ...

This Article About Bank Tellers Hits UncomfortablyDec 06, 2013Just a few short years ago I made $20+ per hour, now I don't even want to know, probably $12-15 if I am lucky. So it's not just minimum wage McDonald's workers, in this article it is bank tellers, rather similar to us. They need better clothes though, but then again we sometimes need equipment and access to high speed internet which eats into pay.
I think years ago companies would have been ashamed to have their employees needing assistance. They try to blame this on President Ob ...
Anyone Here Have Experience With Someone Monitoring Their Bank And Phone Records?Jul 11, 2015There is someone around me who I believe gains access to my bank and phone records. I have no proof, only my instincts which I do trust. What I want to know is this: Is there a way to only give out a masked phone number when I apply for jobs and do business with places? One that cannot be breached by someone calling and pretending to be me or otherwise convincing someone to give the information? In other words, a service like this that does not store my info, so the ...
Time For A Corporate SpringMay 26, 2012A common complaint in today’s world is one of disconnection. Our industrialized world has resulted in less contact with community — we don’t know our neighbors or who grows our food. In the same way that we’ve lost touch with a deeper sense of belonging and place, many of us have become disconnected from the soul of our work. The corporation-worker structure today is a master-servant relationship. We’re slaves to the company, working longer hours for less wage ...

By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer Jim Kuhnhenn, Associated Press Writer – Mon Apr 26, 6:53 pm ET
WASHINGTON – Undaunted by a Senate setback, Democrats appeared increasingly confident Monday they will be able to take advantage of Americans' anger at Wall Street and push through the most sweeping new controls on financial institutions since the Great Depression.
