Cool debt clock. Watch our deficit rise.

Posted: Mar 23, 2011

On the left side is also more statistics on unemployment real and reported, births, etc. Near the bottom is corporate assets, small business assets, personal assets. There's also a lot more. Check it out. The moving numbers may get ya dizzy, though.

The debt ceiling is 14.3 trillion, then the fight will begin to raise it - WI MT

[ In Reply To ..]
The fight should be interesting to watch in the next few weeks- Will the conservatives stand firm and demand real cuts in exchange for extending the debt ceiling or will they cave and extend the debt ceiling again because Lord knows we have to pay for cowboy poetry and another war and Obama's vacations?

What really makes you dizzy is figuring out how much of that debt is your family's responsibility. Sickening.

The debt clock tells you your family's responsibility, too. (nm) - Backwards Typist

Our generation should be ashamed of ourselves for letting this happen.  Actually, I'm a very young (!) Baby-Boomer Sealed but I guess, being the eternal optimist, I still think we have a little bit of time to make it right before it's too late.

Yes because the 2 wars started under Bush (which he kept off budget by the way) and his donut hole script program and tax cuts for the wealthy didnt add a thing to it..went right from Clinton to Obama without ever changing under Georgie. Funny how that happened aint it?

Yup, and there are a lot of conservatives who weren't happy with Bush either. - Zville MT

Some of us actually didn't support either war started by Bush or his prescription drug program or many of the things he did while in office.

I think the point is that while Obama campaigned with a message of change, he seems to be a lot like Bush in a lot of ways. Not really feelin' the change.
Yep, Obama is Bush on steroids. - nm

funny how O only made things worse - WI MT

Stimulus, TARP, can't write a budget that doesn't put us in more debt... I wasn't a fan of Bush either towards the end but O certainly is not solving the problem, he is only making it worse.
TARP was Bush not Obama - Truthseeker

Tarp would be Bush's Baby...

House of Representatives bill 1424, known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), passes by a slim margin in both Congressional houses, and is immediately signed into law by President Bush. [White House, 10/3/2008]

...plus Obama added the Wars to the budgets instead of hiding them on the side..of course finally putting them ON budget would worsen the deficit.

Re: Stimulus

Zandi advised Democrats on the stimulus and has continued to advise congressional leaders on the economy. He served as an adviser to GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in 2008.

Democrats have seized on Zandi̢۪s comments and a report issued Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office that found the stimulus has added as many as 1.4 million to 3.3 million jobs to the economy. Zandi offered several criticisms of the stimulus. He said he and others underestimated the severity of the recession and that it should have been LARGER.
Ummm.....didn't Obama come back to - Washington from the

to vote to PASS TARP? And the fact remains he has spent more money in his2 years than Bush did in 8, and Bush had 9-11 and 2 wars during his 8.

Yep him along with many other congresspeople people voted on it. Bush signed it.

Again, Bush hid the cost of wars, Obama brought the cost out in the open to be added to the deficit and of course that makes it look like HE spent more than Bush... If I have the magic box for receipts I spent at the store over my time in charge but I hide some of my receipts underneath the box (A HUGE AMOUNT OF RECEIPTS) and then when you get the magic box for receipts when you are in charge and then you not only add your own receipts, but then add the receipts I hid under the box when I was in charge guess what...its gonna look like you spent WAY more you actually did and that you spent way more than I actually did.

-----
By refusing to estimate the costs for the war in Iraq, Bush makes his budget deficits look much smaller than they actually are.

With two full years of experience waging war in Iraq, President George W. Bush should have some idea of how much it will cost to continue the fight next year.

But when he submitted his 2006 budget to Congress in February, it didn\'t contain one penny for combat in Iraq or Afghanistan. Sunny optimist that he is, Bush wasn\'t operating on the assumption that the mission would actually be accomplished by then.

Instead, Bush insisted it would be impossible to know how much would be needed, so instead of including anything in the regular budget, he plans to continue the tradition of coming to Congress for emergency supplemental appropriations when war funds get low.

Coincidentally, that approach has the side effect of making the federal budget deficit appear smaller than it actually is. Far smaller, considering that spending in Iraq has averaged more than $5 billion a month....
I had forgotten about exactly how that happened, but you're right - nm

Obama, in relation to spending, is Bush on steroids and a bad economy is not slowing him down at all...pedal to the medal Obama.
I haven't seen that at all - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I see absolutely no resemblance to President Bush in any way. I also haven't seen any dramatic increase in spending from him over and above what was already in place. It takes time to fix those things.
You have got to be kidding me. If you haven't - seen it you have

studiously avoided looking anywhere but left leaning websites. Just the figures alone show that he has had dramatic increase in spending and his budget proposal defies logic.

But you have to really be interested in looking at the truth...the UNvarnished portion. Just numbers without ANYBODY's spin on them...right OR left.

Try it some time...if you really are interested in the truth.
