A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
"As discussed here, four Massachusetts hospitals now must cope with having thousands of patient records discovered in a public dump. And these records contain vital private information such as SSNs, health details, phone numbers, etc. In other words, everything required to have one’s identity stolen. Also, highly private personal medical details which could be harmful if disclosed in the wrong context. Already, overseas transcription services have been the basis for medical records extortion plots. The exposure of the public to centralized medical programs is staggering.
Obamacare creates a centralized computer database of patient records and then allows researchers and medical professionals access to these records. This “all the eggs in one basket” approach may seem momentarily attractive but quickly sours on closer examination. How long before this database is hacked and the data is stolen? Or if the database is hacked and systematically modified? Imagine a modern remake of the movie WarGames: “Hmmm…lets change all of the diabetics to hypoglycemics and see what happens….” or “lets change all of the birth control prescriptions to ovulation inducing fertility drugs” — clickity click. “There. Its done. Now what do you want to do?”
History has shown that any information a government gathers about its populace, it uses against the populace. Do we really trust Obamacare?"
NOTE: I do not live in MA and have never heard of and have no interest in this congressional candidate. The author raises some good points.
