Banned subjects for Romney interviews..sm

Posted: Aug 23, 2012

It seems you are only allowed to interview Romney if you don't ask questions about abortion or Akin.....ROFL.....

;

Good for him! - He doesn't cave to the MSM's demands

[ In Reply To ..]
That's great to read -- thanks for posting.

Great strategy. Alienate MSM just when the campaign - is going into full throttle.

[ In Reply To ..]
He doesn't cave? What's with all the bravado? That kind of thinking may get a pass in the mud pits of a squabbling political forum, but even the Romney camp recognizes how damaging this behavior can be. They've issued a statement claiming, "That's not the way we operate," an indication that they at least KNOW better.

IMO, it's just another smokescreen. They may know better, but I don't think it's going to keep them from avoiding all the hard questions they can't figure out how to handle. What kind of leadership is that?

Right on, but what Romney camp forgets is - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]

Americans are paying attention to this on MANY planes of media.

Romney's mistake is that he is underestimating the "simple-minded."

He has to get the important issues (the real issues) sm - LM
[ In Reply To ..]
out there NOW. Once the debates are held with the moderators in KOK's pocket, there will be no real discussion of issues. There will only be baiting questions - typical for the LSM. Wonder if they will ask if Obama is still enchanted being President. Gag.
An imagination in overdrive doesn't make it so. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Can you cite one instance where debate moderators posed "baiting" questions? Proceed with caution, since there have been times when candidates have turned downright nasty and have tried to intimidate a moderator for DARING to bring up an issue they are unprepared to face. It's not the same.

Given your incessant references to the childish acronym, I seriously doubt bipartisan presidential debate commissions will identify the same "important issues" you think should be addressed when preparing their Q&A list.
I believe the "important issues" some here... - Cassie
[ In Reply To ..]
...would like to see addressed would be questions of Obama such as, "It's been stated on public forums that you are the King of Kenya. What is your response?"

Sorry, but statements like "KOK" are just ludicrous.

We need better debate formats....not exactly sure what they should be, but these "debates" where candidates (on both sides) merely go rattling off their party platform in response to questions without even coming NEAR to answering them is an insult to the intelligence of American voters. I wish I had a dime for every time I've shouted, "You didn't answer the question!!" at the TV screen. :-D

If all we're going to get is a really long campaign ad, it's a huge waste of time and money and does NOTHING to help people decide....other than maybe seeing which one performs better on that particular night.
Sorry you think it's "ludicrous." I seem to remember when - W was called names it was fine.
[ In Reply To ..]
I shall call him whatever I choose. I happen to like the name.
You're barkin' up the wrong tree. - Cassie
[ In Reply To ..]
I can't speak for anyone else, and I'm sure a lot of people DID call Bush a lot of vile and/or silly names, too, and I DIDN'T think that was "fine." I can without hesitation say that even during the worst of the Bush era, I never, ever referred to him as anything other than "Pres. Bush" on any public message boards. I made a point of that. I don't think you have to love the man or woman, but you should respect the office.

I have every right to state that MY feeling is that calling Obama the KOK is ludicrous, just the same as it was the right of Bush supporters to come to his defense if they objected to some of the over-the-top things people posted about him when he was president.

[ In Reply To ..]
If Mr. Romney wants to discuss important issues, there is no dearth of outlets who would be willing and interested in covering it. Looking for entities to blame for the things Romney doesn't say is low utility, imo.
That is exactly what he is doing, but Obama keeps - trying the distraction techniques.

[ In Reply To ..]
You can't blame Obama or the media for Mitt's message or lack thereof. Romney can buy a full-page ad in the New York Times or the National Enquirer if he wants. I'm pretty sure he has the money.

I think you're confused. Obama is the one who can't talk about these things. Why is he not touting his signature program? Health care or lack thereof?
Seriously?...sm - JTBB

Lie: Obama cut Medicare to the detriment of beneficiaries.

Truth: Obama cut excess payments to providers and insurance companies, and put those savings into Obamacare where it helps to close the donut hole for seniors, thereby extending Medicare.

Lie: R/R plan won't effect those over 55.

Truth: What they leave out is that when they repeal Obamacare, they open back up that donut hole, putting the burden right back on seniors. They also plan to cut just as much as Obama from Medicare, only they plan to use that money for tax breaks for the wealthy.

The rest of the issues read about the same way, including 3 ads out by Romney that falsely claim Obama has taken work out of welfare, which has been proven time and time to be untrue.
Some people are really selfish. - Oldster
[ In Reply To ..]
Wrong, wrong. 1) He did cut it. Have you read it in its entirety, that specific provision? 2) It won't AFFECT people over 55.
3) Do you really not care about younger people who won't have Medicare for them when they are older? Wow.
Blaming other "utilities" is all Obama does - Nothing but a whiner

Last week when King of Kenya put up all kinds of restrictions as to what Obama could be asked at the the debates, Libs here were thrilled, and said Romney peeps should do that for Romney. Now they post this crap...as usual, their hypocrisy is underscored AGAIN.

Oh, you really don't want to go there, do you?  Did you read what Jake Tapper had to say?

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/president-obama-takes-questions-from-people-mag-entertainment-tonight-disses-white-house-press-corps/

and this:  “I have said before… [that I] thought the media helped tip the scales. I didn’t think the coverage in 2008 was especially fair to either Hilary Clinton or John McCain,” said Tapper. “Sometimes I saw with story selection, magazine covers, photos picked, [the] campaign narrative, that it wasn’t always the fairest coverage.

And don't forget Mark Halperin:

“The Obama folks clearly know they found some traction on this tax return issue with Romney,” Holt said, then asking Halperin: “Has this issue come to the point it’s jumped the shark?”

Halperin responded:

“I think the press still likes this story a lot. The media is very susceptible to doing what the Obama campaign wants, which is to focus on this. I don’t think there’s any chance, at this point, you saw Ann Romney on Rock Center saying that’s it, we’re not putting out any more. He does have one more year of returns coming. Last year’s returns will be out in a few weeks. I’m pretty sure that’s all he’s going to put out.”

“Do voters care about it? I don’t think so,” he added, concluding that “The economy is still top, front, and center. The Medicare debate’s important. I think it’s mostly something that the press and insiders care about. It’s an important issue about transparency, but there are other bigger issues in the campaign, I think.”

Yes, we really do want to go there. - sm

This is not about Obama's relationship with the media. It's about a candidates running FROM their own platform, instead of ON IT. Do you not recognize what is happening in front of you? Your party is imploding under the weight of its own ideological divisions. This is undoubtedly the most poorly organized, most botched and most bizarre campaign I've ever seen in my life. I shutter to think what would become of us if these people were actually IN CHARGE of anything. It really does scare me, just to think about it.

So, why do we think... - Cassie

[ In Reply To ..]
...he won't take questions about abortion? Here's one guess: He knows he's not a good enough performer to pretend to agree with the GOP's platform on abortion, and he knows that will alienate all the far-right GOP voters. On the other hand, if he DID perform well enough to sound like he's in lock-step with the party platform, he'd alienate the moderate Republicans and those who aren't far-right but might lean Romney.

Why won't he take questions about Akin? Here's one guess: Akin's extreme views align pretty darn closely with those of his running mate, Paul Ryan, and everyone knows that Akin is poison right now.

I wonder if Romney wishes he could take back announcing his running mate so far prior to the convention, now. If only all this Akin junk had played out sooner, he might have gone with Plan B on the VP pick.

vetting - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]
This boggles the mind.

I guess they didn't think it would be an issue.

They had to see AKIN/RYAN on the "forcible rape" HR3 bill when they vetted him. Must not have been a big deal to them. Pure arrogance.

Again, the malignant radical right consumes a Legitimate Party.

I think the fact that Romney won't turn over tax returns and REFUSES to field any question he wants in the next LONG 70 or more days speaks volumes.

Will that work in the debates?

It is insulting to voters who want to know things in order to make an informed decisions.

And this is being echoed in every form of social media, the simple minded's connection to reality.

volumes, indeed... - ctmt

By adding Ryan to the ticket, Romney gets to give the big wink and nod to the extreme right base without even having to move his own lips! The beauty of it is that he gets to promote a message for which he does not have to be accountable. I call that sniveling.

By refusing to answer questions, he appears to only heighten his appeal amongst conservatives, who seem to think that being accountable is a socialist imposition.

Mittwit won't talk abortion now because he - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Ryan, Akin... none of them expected the kind of fallout that came after Akin simply stated what the far right guano thought process is. They believe this garbage and the "science" behind it. Mittens doesn't want to be called out on this and have to make yet another very public flip flop. Turns out that back in 2007, Mitt embraced the endorsement of Dr. Willke... that's the guy who taught Akin that women can't get pregnant from "legitimate" rape. Mittwit was "proud" to have Willke's endorsement. Any questions about abortion will either further drive away women who know how their bodies work or rile up the nutty base if he goes against Willke's "science." Hopefully the Kiss My Bleeeeep guy is still around to help the governor with the pesky press.

O's special favors for his union thug friends, O's dislike for the military, I really don't need to go on. He needs to focus on important issues that O can't address. ....to stand his ground and not muck around with those topics that have NO BEARING on Americans. Focus on the REAL issues! Yay!

As a back-firing mechanism, though, common wisdom tells us that the more you avoid, the more attention you draw. If he would just be a man and answer the questions....say what HE really thinks, not what his puppet-masters tell him....he could get it over with and maybe move on to those other things. In my opinion, putting forth rules about things he will not accept questions about makes him look weak, not strong. In my opinion.

Obama has screwed the middle class with largest tax increase in history.

Obama ran up more debt faster than any president in history.

Obama refuses to talk about any of his college transcripts, thesis or past finanacial dealings.

Obama has cost the Americans a drop of over $4000/yearly.

Obama has lost the AAA+ credit rating.

Obama has largest increase of Americans on food stamps.

Obama believes in abortion up to the time a child's head is visible.

Obama most EXTREME, RADICAL ever.
