The 4+ is based on the FBI's definition of a mass killing. Link below to Mother Jones article with interactive map of locations, timeline with descriptions of the incidents, weapons used, etc. Very brief. Just the facts, Ma'am. No politicizing or proselytizing.

handgun. The guns the shooter used were registered to his MOTHER. A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. Why does a kindergarten teacher need a Glock? Or a rifle that can hold 32 rounds of ammunition? I mean, even if she was into deer-hunting, you don't need an Ouzi to bag a deer. And if she simply had them in her name so her son could have them, well.........

in general I agree with you. No matter how many people like to collect weaponry as a hobby, just maybe we really should again say a firm no to at least military-style assault weapons? They could collect pictures of them instead.

I've been extremely impressed by law enforcement officials and their efficient, methodical and thoroughly professional approach to the crime scene and surrounding investigation. I'm sure this mystery will be cleared up soon enough.

then their shooting skills must be sorely lacking. As in, "Can't hit the broad side of a barn."

Semiautomatics are weapons of WAR. They have no place in civilian society.

The banned "assault weapons" were not "designed" to do any such thing, any more than other semi-automatic rifles.

Most of these so-called "military-style" weapons have the APPEARANCE of military weapons, but not the same capability. There are common hunting rifles which are more powerful.

They are not fully automatic but semi-automatic (one trigger pull, one bullet), and aren't DESIGNED to "spray a room" or any other such nonsense.

Is no one in this forum capable of learning anything about guns? Please? The misinformation is depressing.

It does not include school massacres, workplace killings, hate crimes, or mass murders that took place primarily in a domestic environment, like familicides, which form their own categories. Cases where the primary motive for the murders was to facilitate or cover up another felony, like robbery, are also not included. It does include incidents that produced less than 4 fatalities, and a few that resulted in no fatlities but large numbers of severe injuries.

That said, the lion's share percentage in the comparison between the US and the remainder of the Americas is telling. I think another startling statistic is the 32,000 deaths from firearms (including criminal, suicidal and accidental), exceeding the number of deaths from car crashes, is worth a mention. I also heard a report this morning that the number of guns exceeds the total population, despite the fact that the percentage of per capita gun ownership is declining, leading one to conclude that stockpiling arsenals account for the contradiction.

A few months ago, I posted a request for prayer. One of the issues was a suspicious breast lump, which was recommended to be reimaged. After 3 appointments that had to be rescheduled because of snowstorms here in the Northeast, I had followup images, including ultrasound, and ultimately a core needle biopsy last Thursday.
