She's just finishing up a course of amoxicillin for an abscessed tooth she had. So when she started complaining of her ear hurting, I couldn't believe it would be infected. She swims almost every day. Plus over the weekend went on a trip and she swam over the weekend and then went to a water park on Monday. Needless to say her ear is bothering her. Ibuprofen works to get rid of the pain, but she feels there's water in her ear and I want to try to get it to evaporate or drain. I read about rubbing alcohol and vinegar, but before I got putting stuff in her ears, I want to be sure.
When I was a kid, my mom would heat up sweet oil and put it in my ears for ear infections and my dad, a smoker, would blow cigarette smoke in my ears! Can you believe that! Cigarette Smoke! Since I don't smoke and I'm not about to expose my child to secondhand smoke, I think I'll try some other home remedies. So what's the consensus of MT moms think?
