How's augustlily? I tried apple cider vinegar for diarrhea and it worked! sm

Posted: Sep 26, 2013

I have been having uncontrollable diarrhea, then it was just with clear mucus and I thought I had a parasite or something.  Had to wear Depends to go out.  Read the collaginous colitis discussion and tried the ACV, 1 tablespoon in 8 oz water 2-3 times a day and it has worked wonders!  Back to normal, only occasional diarrhea.  I will be taking this for the rest of my life!  Also will be trying the probiotics.

Did you ever get a diagnosis? Treating a symptom is not necessarily diagnostic of what the problem might be. If you had uncontrollable diarrhea, it could be something else, and all you are doing is treating the diarrhea.

I wouldn't mess around with the probiotics---your intestines are not happy, so personally, I would want to know what was going on before messing with anything.

I have had colonoscopies and one diagnosed me with diverticulosis.

Then Doctor told me I had IBS which I really think I had early on I am extremely lactose intolerant. Sometimes if food is made with real milk it really does a number on me.

I try to drink the lactose free stuff or soy milk.

My last colonoscopy three years ago they diagnosed me with collaginous colitis. That is when the doctor wanted me to take Entocort. That was $1500 for a step down prescription and I could not afford it. No samples either any longer and tried to see who manufactured it so I might get it for free. That is no longer happening.

I have been suffering with this bunch of GI problems since early 80s. I had a laparoscopic cholecytectomy and that seemed to start the whole big problem I have now. I wish I had never had it now though. I mean it started off this and of course, I was never told I might have diarrhea after that.

So I have lactose intolerance, diverticulosis, IBS, and collaginous colitis. I have a lot of diagnoses but no real treatment that I can afford.

I am going to try all the home remedies like the vinegar next. I just wish something would work for more than just a little while.

Librax is not working. Only thing it does is make me really sleepy.

Thanks for asking about me. I appreciate it. This is a really depressing situation because you just don't have a life. I nearly always have to wait till early evening or night to go do my shopping. I don't like being out alone at night either.

Take care all. I hope you all find something to help whatever you have. I think much of my problem comes from antidepressants, the newer ones, however, I have tried the older ones and they make my eyes so blurry and other side effects. I know that Paxil has started this awful stuff off worse.

I have given up aspiring, NSAIDS, and what they told me to except for my antidepressant which I have to have since depression is in my family through my grandfather. Seems all my cousins have it too.

I, sorry I have not been here in a while.

I have not tried the vinegar yet. I did try the coconut and that didn't work. I also now am taking Librax (cost me $70 for 1/2 prescription). It has slowed it down for a bit but not working as well as I had hoped. I started taking Culturelle, but again, I don't see much help. It is all water and gas and I am having unontrollable dribbling. Have to wear Depends now all the time.

I have had two large gelatin like BMs in the morning. Scares me. Kind of the consistency of blood clots I used to have when I had periods, but don't have them all the time. Still scary.

I will try the vinegar thing and then I am going to beg the doctor for a prescription for what the GI doc wanted me to start on which was way too expensive. Part D only pays for generics. I had to pay for my Librax.

Anyway, I still am depressed. I can't go anywhere without having to make sure a bathroom is handy and there is not a line there.

I appreciate you asking about me.

I guess I don't understand why vinegar would help diarrhea. If it does, though, I will sure use it.

Hugs to you, hope you find something that will work. I'm still using the vinegar, but not --sm - MTwallet

every day anymore, just when I remember it. That gelatinous episode scared me too, but it has gone away now. Depending on what I eat, I can have diarrhea (lactose intolerant) but it is nothing like what it was before. I don't know why apple cider vinegar would work either! I'm also trying low carb diet and getting the garbage out of my diet to see if that will help, since I have diabetes, it certainly can't hurt! Good luck!

Thanks. I am going to try that. I thnk the idea of drinking vinegar is what puts me off a little, but I am going to try it for sure.

I am going to try to get the regular medication somehow either through a Canadian pharmacy or if Medicaid will pay for that one. Not one program on part D will cover brand name medications. Lots of people are in the donut hole. I couldn't even get there as I don't have money to pay for the medication without bankrupting myself. So I am going to try all the things I can before I give up.

I fell in the bathroom recently and scraped my knee and got my glasses out of wack. Of course, I didn't make it to the stool and so that mess I had to clean up.

What worried me was that I couldn't get up for a while. I grabbed my grab bar but my legs seemed so rubbery.

Anyway, I didn't break anything and outside of this scrape being a little sore, I am okay. Scares me when I fall though and it sure takes it out of you.

I am taking Librax (also not paid by part D even though it is generic) and got half a prescription for $70. However, it is making me so sleepy and I am off balance with it. I sleep well taking my new antidepressant (but I know that is what made my diarrhea worse). When you have collagineous colitis, they don't want you to take NSAIDs, aspirin and some of the newer antidepressants are also a huge cause of your diarrhea beign worse. I have to take that, but boy when I get a migraine, all I can take are Tylenol up to the limit you can take. Doesn't really help much but just kind of dulls it. Mostly have to sleep it off.

Thanks for all your concern everyone. I really need the support. I just don't feel like I have much of a life. This has just taken it all over. I have to go out in the early evening or at night to do my shopping or get my meds. I don't like being out after dark.

I have missed funerals and other important things because of this stuff. I just want a life before I get too old to walk around on my own.

Scrumptious Apple CrispOct 30, 2011
I just made the most scrumptious apple crisp. Served it warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was one of those desserts that with every bite you make the "mmmm" sound :-) I will copy the recipe from the page I got it and then I will post the link because there is a picture of it. The recipe calls for 4 cups of chopped apples and for me that was 3 apples. It was so incredibly easy. It took me about 15 minutes to make, an hour in the oven. My house smells excellent. I hope you enj ...

Moist Cinamin Apple BarsJul 04, 2014
I came across this site I wanted to share.  First, I cannot wait to make these apple bars (have to get the ingredients first).  They look so scrumptious and moist and my mouth is watering looking at the pic.  The pic is up close and they look very moist. I like that she has step by step directions with pics. I also cannot wait to make the vanilla yogurt cake & moist banana bread.  I've made plenty of banana muffins, but most are always dry.  This one looks very ...

Apple Boycotts Fox News Over Hate Merchant Glen BeckMar 31, 2010
There’s no question that Apple and its CEO, Steve Jobs, are among the most liberal in the technology business. Contrariwise, Fox News is better known as a conservative cheerleader than as a news organization. And, now, never the twain shall meet. The Washington Post reports that Apple, along with a couple hundred other advertisers, are boycotting Glen Beck’s Fox News daily 5 o’clock program: More than 200 companies have joined a boycott of Beck’s program, making it ...
