My hubby has a job that recently has made MANY cut backs, INCLUDING cutting all employees salary considerably. We actually cannot really afford for my husband to keep this job now and he is interviewing currently. Anyway, one of the things the company cut was a work cell phone that they provided. My husband is on different job sites throughout the day and the boss used this cell phone to CONSTANTLY (up to 5 times per hour) call my husband to find out where he is located, how much longer, etc.
Well, since they have cut out the cell phone, his boss now calls my husband's PERSONAL phone all day long. Now, it doesn't cost us any money for the boss to call, because he has the same service provider as us, but isn't this taking advantage of us in a way, or is that just being trivial? I feel like if they cut out the phones, because THEIR budget couldn't afford it, then don't expect US to pay a phone bill in order for you to keep constant communication with your employee. The guy that works with my husband doesn't own a cell phone, so when the boss calls and needs to talk to him, he calls my husband's phone and tells my husband to give the phone to this other employee. So, not only are they using my husband's phone to talk to him, but the other workers as well?
I told my husband he should just switch phones with me, leave his phone with me and when the boss calls I will answer and tell him I had to use my husband's phone and let that end that. I mean, why should WE provide a phone for a company that has already cut his salary to a point where we may not even be able to afford out phones much longer. Would you do the same or just be nice about it, since it technically doesn't cost us any additional money?
