Anybody taking Fosamax?

I have only taken it for 2 weeks. I don't feel well, just blah & feverish feeling, have broken out with shingles?!? (probably no correlation, but still) and have achy joints. Wonder if anyone else has had problems & wondering if it's even worth taking. TIA!

I have a good friend who took Fosamax and now has severe osteonecrosis of the jaw. My own physician does not want me to take it (even though I have osteoporosis) because he says it is one of the most dangerous drugs on the market. There have also been some studies linking Fosamax and hip fracture. Be careful!

I'll explain it the way my endocrine specialist explained it to me when my PCP put me on the stuff. Keeping in mind I'm only 45 and they tried making me take this at 35. Yes, my T-scores in hip and spine are on the fracture threshold by score number (low T score), but this is in comparison to a "usual/normal" person's T-score. He explained it that if you looked at a Bell curve and the "ideal" score was right at the top and mine was down a bit from the peak/normal range that DID NOT mean I was "losing" bone density. It could very well be that the bone density score I have is the same score I've always had and just isn't as high as some people or the "normal" people. The only way to know if I was "losing" bone was to have a comparative scan to the first one. He told me not to take the stuff AT ALL. Besides it gave me heartburn to die from! It's a serious med with serious effects for some people. Might ask your doc for a more thorough explanation for your need to be taking it in the first place. Hope this helps!!

after googling the side effects & am planning to call my doctor in the morning. I appreciate your input!!

I'm not on Fosamax, but there are currently lots of lawsuits - because of Fosamax and its harmful side effects

Anyone know about fish oil? I have been taking it 2 gm a day for awhile, but been reading about autoimmune issues and inflammation. Besides taking the vacuum cleaner and sucking these brats up in the cleaner, how can I do this. I am asked repeatedly by others about texting, time spent on FB and other internet activities. I do not text. I say by the time I am finished scanning every word in a document and seeing thousands of lines a day just do not want to stress my brain any further. Seems there is some real squirming going on. CIA director has never given a televised address.
