Really, pads calling attention to if you smell?

I wrote an email to a female product place the other day, would name the product but not sure if I can here. This ad is playing on TV like asking if during my period I would smell and another one I saw the person was saying something to the fact if she went swimming, could shark smell her and I am saying WHAT? I have countless years behind me, work in a profession that almost anything goes as far as what you hear but I sure do not want to hear about whether a women smells or not during her period. I know the smell and as offending as that is to my nose, I think the ads are more so. Do companies think they have to play the shock effect to get people to listen? Really? ;

She asked me if that commercial was true, lol. Needless to say, that commercial didn't help the whole being afraid of the ocean thing, lol. RIDICULOUS commercial!!!

I had a father who showered but for whatever reason thought that did it. He had body odor. I bought deodorant and kept him supplied in it to spray and I told him this very thing "wherever on your body you have hair" excluding your head. I cannot believe they exploit women and like the poster above said, young girls could believe myths that go along with the use of feminine products. I know a family where the mother, 2 young girls 10 and 8 and I were sitting around and talking and the mother was "afraid" and had stories to tell about why her girls could not use tampons. Really? I am so put off with this ad.

[ In Reply To ..]Some of those old wives' tales are just sad. I remember when I was a teenager, my mom would not let me get wet when I had my period, no shower, no washing my hair. Crazy stuff. Sad mothers still tell daughters not to use tampons. Are we still living in the middle ages?

[ In Reply To ..]women probably after hundred of years are not changing from the kind they have worn for years. You can keep yourself clean and free of odor by changing when you should. Cloth pads will certainly smell if not changed like you should. Most in life usually wind up with a yeast infection and it can have nothing at all to do with whether you wear cloth pad or not. I am past a menstrual age and I still have occasional yeast infections. The ads are the problem for me, not the product itself.

They make the woman to look intelligent and the man to look like a dufus. [ In Reply To ..]Don't know where you are from but everyone I know and everyone I see walking around the stores is not like that. The men are intelligent and not "ditzy" like the commercials make them out to be. Never once do I see a commercial where the women looks ditzy.
I don't know why but I take offense to that. I don't find them humorous. Just makes me not want to buy what they are selling.
