My friend has been in a relationship with a man who is about ten years older than herself for about a year or so. They live together. He works for an employer who has offered to pay for him and the rest of the employees of the small, all male staff, to go on a cruise. She is a bit miffed at the thought of him cruising without her, so she has decided to go on a trip upstate for a week by herself. Neither one of them are the 'fooling around' types, she is just mad that he gets a cruise and she doesnt I guess. He doesn't like the idea of her going off by herself like that, so offered her $1000 to stay home and take care of his dogs so he doesnt have to kennel them. She has refused, saying no, she wants to go on vacation since he is. I think she's acting like an ***!! What am I missing?

Most men I know view cruises as more of a female-oriented vacation what with the musical shows, fancy meals, and silly games on board. Men like to fish, camp, etc. So I would think that someone who has an "all male" staff would plan a more male-oriented vacation such as a deep sea fishing trip or camping trip or even a scuba trip.
Finally, I wonder why wouldn't the boyfriend use the $1000 to pay your friend's way on the cruise. Get her her own cabin and spend a little time with her on the ship when he's not "bonding" with the guys. :)
So my best guess would be that your friend feels something is a bit off about this all male cruise trip. Add to that that the boyfriend doesn't want her to take a vacation by herself (I would say because he's up to something and so he is projecting his suspicion onto her). Obviously, he doesn't need anyone to stay with the dogs since willing to shell out $1000 for her to stay at home and do it.
It's all a bit strange...
