Ugh! Not looking forward to it here in PA - Backwards Typist

The weather has been really weird in the pat year or so. Summer temps were higher north of me, while last winter snows were south of me.

If we get many Nor'Easters (which may happen), that's when my area will get hit hard and not looki8ng forward to it.

it's a beautiful 76 degrees here! Sun is out, not a cloud in sight! Different kind of pretty. Enjoy your snow. I'm going to enjoy my blue sky and the end of our Indian Summer! :)

I miss the desert! - Kendra

Where do you live? I grew up in the Mojave Desert in California and now I am in muggy, humid, Mississippi. I am thankful to be somewhere that doesn't get too cold, but I sure miss the desert and the mountains. There is nothing like the smell of rain on creosote!

I live in southern New Mexico, very close to the borders of Mexico and Texas. I know what you mean about the creosote. That is my absolute favorite smell in the world. I have a huge creosote bush in by back yard and live right at the edge of a mountain range, so they are everywhere along with all the other desert plants. When I leave to go somewhere for a visit, I get homesick right away. There is something about the peace and beauty of the desert. For me, its like being where I belong.

I have been to Mississippi before. To the delta region. I thought it was a different kind of beauty, but you're right! It is very muggy. I was miserable in that respect. (but here in the desert, if it rains a teeny bit and we have 10% humidity, we think we're miserable! LOL!) Have a good one!
Mississippi is pretty enough, but... - Kendra

I like Joshua trees and mountains and being able to see for miles and miles. I think that most people don't understand how beautiful the desert really is. You have a good day, too!

Keep it up north please. Don't need it down here. - NM

Keep it up there. I live in Upstate NY too, but it was a nice sunny clear day with no snow anywhere around. I hate the snow. When it shows, I rarely leave the house.

Snow - Nothing more beautiful

I know I am in the minority, but when winter is over I dread what is ahead. I never liked hot, humid weather even as a child, and this year we had no spring. We had April temps of 95 degrees, and it was a long, very hot summer. I don't think there is anything so beautiful as a fresh falling snow. Don't get me wrong. I don't like driving in it, or shoveling it, but the beauty of it takes my breath away.

I am always expectantly waiting at this time of year - PJ

for our first snow here in mid-Michigan. I usually love the snow until about the middle of January when they run out of salt to put on the roads and then start putting sand on the roads for traction. At that point, it becomes ugly dirty snow that they push into huge piles that won't go away until April, or sometimes even May.

At least I will enjoy the pristine whiteness until then. I can't wait till we get our first snow here. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a while, since this week we are having sunshine and temperatures in the high 50s/low 60s.

Thank you for sharing about your snow in NY. I can see it in my mind's eye. Enjoy it for me too, okay?

It went on to quote Obama at a press conference saying,"‘I can’t abandon the American people now when they need me more than ever. We’ve come this far as a nation, now is not the time to do something different. This is the change you wanted and this is the change you’re getting."   The problem facing Obama, according to the article, is the 22nd Amendment, which prevents presidents from running for more than two terms. It was ratified in 1951. However, the article s ...

We Have So Much Snow!!!Feb 02, 2011
I'm in SE Wisconsin, had a blizzard yesterday/last night and there is so much drifting snow there's nowhere to go with it... and it's still blowing like crazy outside.  You know that commercial of the husband who goes out to snowblow and he ends up somewhere away from home because he just keeps going and going.  Well, I just had to laugh at my husband because that's what he just reminded me of.  He did our property.  Then when I went outside I saw him up t ...

The Diary of a Snow Shoveler December 86:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 9We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving ...

First SnowDec 06, 2010
We are having our first plowable snow storm of the year in my section of Maine (6-12 inches).  It is really gorgeous.  I know I will not be singing this same song in a few months.  It just really puts you in the holiday spirit.  I am not into winter sports so it makes for a long winter, but always enjoy the snow in the month of December.  I prefer to enjoy it from the inside looking out with a wood stove fire going -  LOL. ...

Well, The Snow Totals Are Out For PAFeb 11, 2010
I'm so lucky. Our county got the highest, 24-27" depending on where you live. I live in the 27" zone.  So in 2 weeks, we have had 34" of snow. Had to laugh at DH. He put the snowblower in the storage shed after the snow last week instead of leaving it in the garage. It was a bit of a hassle to get it back out.  He's 6' tall and the snow was up to his knees.  His boots weren't [up to his knees].  Poor guy. I made a good hot luch for him, though.  ...

Do You Freak Out Hearing About SnowJan 11, 2011
Why people hear about snow and freak out and run to the grocery store? I went to get milk and a few other things that I didn't get the other day and it was crazy. I figure as long as I have milk and food, dog and cat food and cat litter we are ok. But I tell you people hear snow and they flock to the store big time makes me laugh actually I wouldn't have gone out except that I needed milk and hamburger. ...

First Light Snow Of The Year - That's StickingNov 25, 2012
I like the way the grayish sky contrasts with the white of the snow, and the pine trees.  Just read a strange poem by Emily Dickinson about a pine tree, I'm sharing the whole thing here.  Love the line, "a sea with a stem."  I had to stop and look out the window at a pine, when I read this line.  Yep, that's right - a sea with a stem. By my Window have I for SceneryJust a sea—with a Stem—If the Bird and the Farmer—deem it a “Pine”&mdas ...
