We have so much snow!!!

Posted: Feb 2, 2011

I'm in SE Wisconsin, had a blizzard yesterday/last night and there is so much drifting snow there's nowhere to go with it... and it's still blowing like crazy outside.  You know that commercial of the husband who goes out to snowblow and he ends up somewhere away from home because he just keeps going and going.  Well, I just had to laugh at my husband because that's what he just reminded me of.  He did our property.  Then when I went outside I saw him up the street about three houses down, and now I just came in to work and he's across the street still snow blowing away.  But it's good for him, he needs to keep busy, otherwise he just does things he shouldn't.  Just wanted to share since I have no one else to talk to right now.  I know there are others on this board in Wisconsin buried in snow as well.  Be careful if you venture out and good luck in your snow removal!

because it was 29 degrees outside when I got up. Too darn cold for me. I guess I will never live in Wisconsin--at least if I can help it :)

LOL We got about 10 inches or more as of now but still snowing. It is also blowing and drifting. LOL on your husband. Mine is the same way. He just loves his tractor and was hoping for snow. Well, he got it. We have been lucky this year and haven't had too much but this made up for it. My poor dog didn't want to go out this morning.

was -14 this morning but not much snow yet. I hope our water doesn't freeze again. UGH... I'm ready for spring. We're 2-1/2 hours from Colorado but I have family there and they said it was just as cold. What ever happened to "global warming?"

Uhh... misnomer? - NM

This is part of global warming. The winters are getting colder and worse and the summer hotter and - cindy

of global warming. We either will eventually end up with another ice age or burn up to death. What a lovely future!
Global warming is the biggest scam there - ever was.

Did ya'll ever think that perhaps this is just the natural cycle of our planet? Granted, we should be kind to our planet and recycle, etc. but we aren't changing the climate. When I was younger we had hot summers and cold winters...that is generally how the seasons go...at least that is how they go in Indiana.

We were bracing for this "huge" storm and we got nothing. We do have about a foot and a half of snow already, but nothing came last night like it was predicted. The schools in the whole county and surrounding counties are closed today. Why? I have no idea. I guess I should be happy because I hate the snow. Everyone else stay safe and warm.

And actually we didn't get as much as I had expected, but we have a cumulative three feet in our front yard right now. It stopped a little after noon. And they're predicting more for Saturday. Thank goodness Puxatauny Phil didn't see his shadow this morning!

Im in SE Wisconsin too - 18+ inches and 10 foot drifts

Still cant get out of the driveway. This is crazy. The snow is mid way up my front door, and I cant even push the door open. The drifts on the side of my house are up to the gutters!

You have bigger drifts than we do. Ours are about 4 ft and we can get out of our house. Hubby did the initial snow blowing of our sidewalk but then city plows have come through and knocked more snow onto the sidewalks. I went and did more snow blowing and as I\'m out there shoveling out a fire hydrant, here comes the city plow again and knocks more snow onto the sidewalk. I didn\'t even make it inside before I had to pull out the snow blower again. Our walk up to the front door was at least 2 feet deep. It\'s crazy but it\'s kind of fun...since I don\'t have any work to be worried about.

The Diary of a Snow Shoveler December 86:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 9We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving ...

First SnowDec 06, 2010
We are having our first plowable snow storm of the year in my section of Maine (6-12 inches).  It is really gorgeous.  I know I will not be singing this same song in a few months.  It just really puts you in the holiday spirit.  I am not into winter sports so it makes for a long winter, but always enjoy the snow in the month of December.  I prefer to enjoy it from the inside looking out with a wood stove fire going -  LOL. ...

I hope everyone stays safe in the storm that is coming or already has hit some.  I'm in Mid Michigan and we are supposed to get about a foot tonight and tomorrow.  I'm figuring a snow day for my son tomorrow.  Glad I work at home.  Hubby has to go to work tomorrow, maybe. Well, The Snow Totals Are Out For PAFeb 11, 2010
I'm so lucky. Our county got the highest, 24-27" depending on where you live. I live in the 27" zone.  So in 2 weeks, we have had 34" of snow. Had to laugh at DH. He put the snowblower in the storage shed after the snow last week instead of leaving it in the garage. It was a bit of a hassle to get it back out.  He's 6' tall and the snow was up to his knees.  His boots weren't [up to his knees].  Poor guy. I made a good hot luch for him, though.  ...

Do You Freak Out Hearing About SnowJan 11, 2011
Why people hear about snow and freak out and run to the grocery store? I went to get milk and a few other things that I didn't get the other day and it was crazy. I figure as long as I have milk and food, dog and cat food and cat litter we are ok. But I tell you people hear snow and they flock to the store big time makes me laugh actually I wouldn't have gone out except that I needed milk and hamburger. ...

First Light Snow Of The Year - That's StickingNov 25, 2012
I like the way the grayish sky contrasts with the white of the snow, and the pine trees.  Just read a strange poem by Emily Dickinson about a pine tree, I'm sharing the whole thing here.  Love the line, "a sea with a stem."  I had to stop and look out the window at a pine, when I read this line.  Yep, that's right - a sea with a stem. By my Window have I for SceneryJust a sea—with a Stem—If the Bird and the Farmer—deem it a “Pine”&mdas ...
