When dining out at a restaurant like Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, Carrabas, etc., where they give you a basket of bread on the table with the meal and will refill at request, is it acceptable or unacceptable to request an extra loaf to go with your doggie bag?
;It has been months since I ate out (can’t afford it anymore) and I do not know about those specific restaurants, but if memory serves, at the end of the meal if you ask for a “doggy bag” they just bring you a Styrofoam carton and you put whatever you want to take with you into the carton yourself. So, what we always do is about 10 to 15 minutes before we are going to ask for the “doggie bag” while someone is still eating, we ask for more bread. Then, after we get the cartons, we divide up the bread ourselves for whoever wants to take some home.
I think most restaurants who offer “unlimited refills” expect people to take some home with them and they just chalk that up to good advertising, thinking those people will be happy and tell their friends how great the restaurant is and come back often.
