Black Friday is a tradition in our house. My husband gets up at 4:00 and gets the bargains out there that we need. Then he'll come home and pick me up around 9:00 and we go to the local mall and then go eat lunch at the same restaurant every year (Greek - yum). I actually look forward to it.

Every year! - die hard BF shopper

I've been watching the online ads for weeks. I'll be scouring the paper ads tonight and tomorrow, finalizing my list of must haves!

Then I'll be up at 3:00 a.m. BF morning to be out the door by 4:00 a.m. Picking up my friends and headed to the local Wal-Mart. Then off to the city for a weekend of shopping with my friends!

I can hardly wait. I actually got up this morning around 2:00 a.m., just a trial run, and couldn't wait to get out of bed before the alarm went off this morning to get my work out of the way today!

I'm so excited!!!! My friends and I have BF T-shirts to wear, too!

Most times if I cannot buy over the internet, do not - buy at all. HSN and QVC, hooray!

You could not pay me to go out there today. I was sick so much this summer, then broke my foot that I just ended up getting people gift cards. I'm going to do the same for Christmas. My right foot and ankle are so atrophied from being in that cam boot for 4 months, I can't seem to walk in shoes of the same time. I have to go thru PT now. I would hope they would all understand.

Luckily, our local grocery store sells tons of gift cards for different places - Best Buy, Sears, Red Lobster, Toys R Us, etc. One trip up the street and that's it. I just pray I don't fall because my knee is now giving way.

Grocery ShoppingDec 29, 2009
I am just wondering about an idea I have had and wanted some feedback to see if it a workable plan in your mind. I am thinking of starting to be a personal shopper for people for their groceries and household items.  I am thinking that I can make money this way by taking their shopping lists and buying the groceries using coupons and then they still just pay their grocery bill and I make my money by whatever coupons I can come up with toward their orders.  What do you think?  Wo ...

Does Anyone Do Their Shopping Online?Feb 17, 2013
I've been trying to find a more inexpensive way to buy groceries.  I don't do couponing much because all the coupons are usually for stuff I don't normally buy. I was looking at Amazon and it is amazing all the stuff they sell.  My question is this.  I see for instance a 12 pack of canned beans for 41.84 (pack of 12).  Does that mean 12 cans?  If so, Amazon is selling for 4 times the amount I pay for at the grocery store.  Am I reading that right?&nb ...

Shoe Shopping DilemmaFeb 05, 2012
About a month ago, I stopped at a shoe store I don't normally frequent.  I happened upon a pair of shoes that were very comfortable and stylish.  They were $100.  This was the most I ever paid for a pair of shoes, but after wearing the ones I walked out with for a week, I had no regrets.  I bought that pair and also ordered another pair in standard black (the store didn't have my size in stock).  The store said it would take about 2 weeks and they would ship di ...

Mom - not quite sure yet but I think I know, so that's settled....almost....lol All i have yet to get is stocking stuffers, and I've already picked up several of those.  I missed last Christmas (and Thanksgiving, and my birthday, and almost New Year's Day)  due to being in the hospital, so I'm getting excited about this Christmas.&n ...

The Wedding Dress Shopping ...Sep 13, 2010
......did your mom go with you, or help you pick it out? If not your mom, did anyone else go with you? A friend, relative, co-worker, etc. Mine went with me, but sort of as an after-thought. I'd already picked out a hat (not a veil) and needed a dress to match the hat, so she went with me to find a dress. She soooo wanted me to wear a long wedding gown, but that's not what I wanted. I wanted a short white gauzy party dress. She made me try on a long gown, and I thought she wa ...

To Save $$$ Grocery Shopping, Check This Out ......Jun 12, 2014
I do the majority of my grocery shopping at Walmart (I don't like Walmart, but I have to grocery shop there for financial reasons - besides, I can't see paying more for the same item at Publix when I can get it for less at Walmart.)   I also do comparison shopping at Walmart. The other day when checking out, the clerk told me about Walmart's "savings catcher" site (savingscatcher.com) where you can save even more money on your grocery bill (or anything you buy ...

Enjoyed the analysis of the summit by MsNBC.  I was pleased with the opportunity to watch Obama lead a meeting.  I found his body language interesting.  That plus the fact that the conservatives (and even worse) have all but ceded control of this board and are leaving in defeat makes this shape up to be a pretty good day.   ...

Friday FableOct 16, 2009
There's a group of people. They elect a leader. The leader digs a hole 8 feet deep. He and all the people are in it and the walls are starting to crumble. The people elect another leader. The second leader makes the hole bigger by digging out the sides. Oh no, some people exclaim. The hole is getting bigger! But now we can climb out, says the leader. But the hole will still be there for our children, say the people. Not if we work to fill it back in, says the president. It is easier to fill ...

Friday Was Another Bad Day For Obama.May 18, 2013
The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has delivered another blow to President Barack Obama, who has had an incredibly rough week due to a series of very serious scandals, by finding a recess appointment to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to be unconstitutional: The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday said an appointment President Barack Obama made to the National Labor Relations Board was invalid, becoming the second circuit to question the validity of the labor board&rs ...

Pepper Spray, Competitive Shopping Rage, Parking Lot ShootingsNov 25, 2011
Video display destroyed with clerks diving to the floor and scrambling to save the merchandise.  Trampling in realtime, despite the death this caused 3 years ago.  20 consumers injured by a women who came equipped for armed combat.  I am left wondering how much of a role media hype played in this sad desperation and find myself at a loss when trying to understand it.   On the news station I am watching this morning, "hot items" and "dee ...

For Those That Need A Good Laugh On A FridayOct 08, 2010
Wednesday I got a call informing me that one of my great aunts passsed away.  I read the obituary yesterday, which was Thursday.  As I read the obit I saw visiting hours Thurs evening and funeral Friday.  I just assumed the funeral was this Friday, seeing as though she passed 2 days prior.  I get up this morning and get dressed up and head down the interstate - the funeral was held in a different town than I live in and is about an hour's drive.   I find t ...

He used a pseudonym on her email server but told CBS that he found out about her server by "hearing it on the news." So this scandal goes all the way to the top, as I rather imagine others like Benghazi and Lerner (IRS) targeting conservative groups did as well (its simply ludicrous to believe that she did this on her own without the approval of, if not orders from, the Oval Office). There should be a virtual parade of federal officials and employees on their way to prison, but will that h ...

New Years Eve PlansDec 31, 2011
Anyone have New Year's Eve plans or traditions?  I personally find New Year's Eve depressing, especially since the news people love to re-hash the tragedies of the past year.  We're staying home tonight and I got some movies to watch.  Tomorrow we go to my mother's for the traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner.  (I don't know if that's traditional everywhere, but it is in SE Pennsylvania.)     ...

He wants to increase taxes for those earning over $200K. Then he wants to ...

President Obama isn't the only one who has presented a jobs plan.  In “Believe in America: Mitt Romney’s Plan for Jobs and Economic Growth,” the candidate says that if elected, he would lower the corporate tax rate by 10 percentage points, points, to a top rate of 25 percent; eliminate taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest for taxpayers earning under $200,000 a year; slash the federal workforce by 10 percent, by allowing Uncle Sam to hire a new employe ...

Candidates' Deficit Plans Don't Add UpOct 01, 2012
As the government closes the books Sunday with a $1.1 trillion deficit for the year, which required borrowing 32 cents for every dollar it spent, budget analysts have little confidence in either presidential candidate's plan to address the accumulating debt, now at about $16 trillion. The Republican nominee promises to balance the budget in eight years to 10 years, but he also offers a mix of budgetary contradictions: higher Pentagon spending, restoring cuts that Democrats made in Medicare ...

The Web Of Soros And How He Plans To OverturnFeb 14, 2017
As is well publicized, a Seattle Federal judge has halted President Trump’ executive order pertaining to temporary travel restrictions. What is not more widely known is who is directly responsible for this halt. The MSM are hailing Judge James Robart’s temporary halt as a brave decision and a fight back against injustice. What the media are largely ignoring is that a judge only rules on a case, the case is brought by a plaintiff and the plaintiff is represented by a lawyer (or group of ...
