Enjoyed the analysis of the summit by MsNBC.  I was pleased with the opportunity to watch Obama lead a meeting.  I found his body language interesting.  That plus the fact that the conservatives (and even worse) have all but ceded control of this board and are leaving in defeat makes this shape up to be a pretty good day.

We left the board, not. We just refuse to argue with rocks! - We will be at the voting booth....nm

Maybe next you will learn not to argue with trees.

And maybe now something will actually get done - to help people who need

help, not just corporations and those already well off. No one needs that level of selfishness.
corporations - anon

yup, let's punish the evil successful corporations and individuals. then who will sign your paycheck - the guy depending on someone else to meet his needs?
do you feel that corporations - nona

are getting a bad rap?

I think if corporations were not making a profit we'd all be in big trouble, don"t you? cuz without them where would we be? do you want to work for free or so that you can give up your profits. if so, let me know. i will be happy to take that check off your hands.
what do you are the responsibiliies - nona

that go along with being a corporation? Anything other than making profits for shareholders?
corporations - anon

I think that is up to the corporation. You are talking about ideally, I am talking about reality. You cannot govern social conscience. Plus those shareholders would be PO'ed if there was not profit. What happens to those companies then? and what happens to their employees when they decide to say screw it, it's not worth the hassle? Some, actually many companies, are quite generous and do immeasurable good for society. Do you know how much the Bill Gates Foundation donates yearly. Do you know how much is written off by the medical providers in charity care? Like I said before, do you want to work for nothing? Nope, didn't think so. It's easy to say someone else should not make a profit but if they were taking yours, I don't think you'd be so happy. Tell me citizens don't already B____ about income taxes!
My 401K sure likes corporations too! - Anon

I know we were all supposed to invest for our retirements, but 401k's tanked multiple times in the last decade. I'm happy for you that yours didn't.

Sure, it went down since Obama, but it's still got more money than I put in. - Anon

I believe that's considered a profit, which is the whole idea behind starting one. Otherwise, it'd be called a savings account, LOL!
Exactly what policy.. - JTBB
[ In Reply To ..]
that has been put into effect under the Obama administration was it that made your 401 go down?
Now, now, JTBB, don't "bully" the conservative by asking questions - and stuff. (nm) Nikki

Wink

I'm not bullied at all. See, JTBB's question to me wasn't insulting or sarcastic. - Anon

That's the way grownups debate.
You must know the market doesn't necessarily react to policies... - Anon

And sometimes they make no sense at all. The bond market is reacting to the strength of the dollar or even the perception of the strength of the dollar, etc. So it may not be a specific policy at all. Even so, if Obama is going to take credit for all the good things that happen during his watch, he has to take the blame for the bad as well. After all, it's only FAIR, and we do know how much he loves equality for all.

I haven't left. However, some of us actually have lives.... - Anon

There's a group of people. They elect a leader. The leader digs a hole 8 feet deep. He and all the people are in it and the walls are starting to crumble. The people elect another leader. The second leader makes the hole bigger by digging out the sides. Oh no, some people exclaim. The hole is getting bigger! But now we can climb out, says the leader. But the hole will still be there for our children, say the people. Not if we work to fill it back in, says the president. It is easier to fill ...

For Those That Need A Good Laugh On A FridayOct 08, 2010
Wednesday I got a call informing me that one of my great aunts passsed away.  I read the obituary yesterday, which was Thursday.  As I read the obit I saw visiting hours Thurs evening and funeral Friday.  I just assumed the funeral was this Friday, seeing as though she passed 2 days prior.  I get up this morning and get dressed up and head down the interstate - the funeral was held in a different town than I live in and is about an hour's drive.   I find t ...

Another FBI Friday Night Document Dump With This BombshellSep 23, 2016
He used a pseudonym on her email server but told CBS that he found out about her server by "hearing it on the news." So this scandal goes all the way to the top, as I rather imagine others like Benghazi and Lerner (IRS) targeting conservative groups did as well (its simply ludicrous to believe that she did this on her own without the approval of, if not orders from, the Oval Office). There should be a virtual parade of federal officials and employees on their way to prison, but will that h ...
