My Mom And Her Cell PhoneJan 07, 2015
After years of hounding my mom and dad about not having a cell phone especially when driving long distances in our cold, wintry state, my mom actually went out all on her own  and bought an inexpensive prepaid cell phone. She is very proud of the fact that she has a cell phone and knows how to add minutes, etc. The problem is that she will NOT turn it on because it "runs down the battery." My brothers and I have explained about the cell phone charger until we are practically blue in the fac ...

Cell Phone TimeNov 20, 2013
Did anyone's cell phone time get messed up this morning?  My alarm is set for 6:50, so I got up, but the entire world was at 7:50.  My bestee then called me and asked if this was going on with me.  I have ATT and she has Sprint, as well as another friend with a tracfone.  Needless to say, I was an hour late.  Just wondering if this is everywhere or just here in West Michigan.  How bizarre. ...

Advice On Cell PhoneDec 07, 2016
I have a cheapo gophone from Walmart that is dying a slow death. I want to get an Android but I was hoping for some recommendations on brand, etc.   The Samsungs were the ones with the bad battery, right? I've tried looking on line, but there are so many, it's confusing. I appreciate your time.   ...

Prepay Cell Phone QuestionApr 15, 2010
So this may sound like the dumbest question ever but here goes . . . I need to get a cell phone.  I was thinking of getting one of those "Pay as You Go" and purchase an air card. The dumb question is do these phones have their own phone number so other people can you call or are they just to be used for outgoing calls? Thanks for any responses.       ...

Cell Phones Vs. LandlinesDec 06, 2011
I am really starting to think about switching to cell phones only. I would like to save on my bills, I hear a lot about people doing this - after searching, I don't think I understand where you "save" that much. Unless I am missing something. Do you mind sharing with me, what plan you use (provider), how many minutes (shared?), do you feel your minutes are sufficient? How much do you pay a month? Does your pricing include "data plan" (email, internet)? Right now we are paying appro ...

Looking At Straight Talk Cell Phones And Can't Decide Which One Would Be Best.Nov 13, 2014
My first instinct is to go for the cheapest and on the straight talk website they have a free Samsung T528G when you purchase a plan.  I have a cheapy prepaid phone now that I hate!  It is supposedly touchscreen, but I cannot get it calibrated right and half the time I have no service which I don't know is the phone or the cell service. I also see Samsung Centura or Discover for $50 to $70.  So what would you guys suggest I get? ...

Terrorist Cell Is Alive In Minneapolis, US Judge Says In ISIL Case.Dec 28, 2016
Minnesotans on terror conspiracy charges this week, U.S. District Judge Michael Davis closed a chapter in the federal government’s long, extraordinary investigation of ISIL recruitment in Minnesota. In nine hearings over three days before a courtroom packed with the families of the young men who sought to give their lives to ISIL, Davis repeatedly underlined a clear message: There is a terrorist cell in Minneapolis and it is still alive today. “Everyone talks about Brussels or Paris ...

New Years Eve PlansDec 31, 2011
Anyone have New Year's Eve plans or traditions?  I personally find New Year's Eve depressing, especially since the news people love to re-hash the tragedies of the past year.  We're staying home tonight and I got some movies to watch.  Tomorrow we go to my mother's for the traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner.  (I don't know if that's traditional everywhere, but it is in SE Pennsylvania.)     ...

What Do You Think Of O's Budget Plans?Feb 15, 2011
'Scuse me for any typos or double remarks if any. I am trying to type this as he speaks. He plans to veto earmarks (how can this happen-there is no line item veto), cut LIHEAP program, freeze federal employee wages for 2 years (didn't they already do that?), cut military spending as Gates wanted, will work with everyone to simplify the tax code, but it sounds like he doesn't want to change anything with SS. He wants to increase taxes for those earning over $200K. Then he wants to ...

Why Aren't We Discussing Other Plans?Sep 10, 2011
President Obama isn't the only one who has presented a jobs plan.  In “Believe in America: Mitt Romney’s Plan for Jobs and Economic Growth,” the candidate says that if elected, he would lower the corporate tax rate by 10 percentage points, points, to a top rate of 25 percent; eliminate taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest for taxpayers earning under $200,000 a year; slash the federal workforce by 10 percent, by allowing Uncle Sam to hire a new employe ...

Candidates' Deficit Plans Don't Add UpOct 01, 2012
As the government closes the books Sunday with a $1.1 trillion deficit for the year, which required borrowing 32 cents for every dollar it spent, budget analysts have little confidence in either presidential candidate's plan to address the accumulating debt, now at about $16 trillion. The Republican nominee promises to balance the budget in eight years to 10 years, but he also offers a mix of budgetary contradictions: higher Pentagon spending, restoring cuts that Democrats made in Medicare ...

The Web Of Soros And How He Plans To OverturnFeb 14, 2017
As is well publicized, a Seattle Federal judge has halted President Trump’ executive order pertaining to temporary travel restrictions. What is not more widely known is who is directly responsible for this halt. The MSM are hailing Judge James Robart’s temporary halt as a brave decision and a fight back against injustice. What the media are largely ignoring is that a judge only rules on a case, the case is brought by a plaintiff and the plaintiff is represented by a lawyer (or group of ...

Why None Of Those Budget Plans Make Any Difference At AllApr 08, 2011
We'll eventually get a budget put in there and you know what's going to happen? One or more of these: earthquake, volcanic erruption (Mt. St. Helens or others), tornadoes, another Katrina, drought, floods, etc. Oh, and then some terrorist will probably do something somewhere that we will have to respond to, so you can forget taking money from Defense. None of our plans matter in the whole scheme of things. However, that bail-out of Texas makes me shake with anger. ...

Obama Gives Private Plans $6.7 In BonusesApr 21, 2011
Here we go again. Sorry, but doesn't he realize we're broke yet?   WASHINGTON (AP) — Millions of seniors in popular private insurance plans offered through Medicare will be getting a reprieve from some of the most controversial cuts in President Barack Obama's health care law. In a policy shift critics see as political, the Health and Human Services department has decided to award quality bonuses to hundreds of Medicare Advantage plans rated merely average. The $6.7 ...

CBO Now Says 10 Mil Will Lose Employer Health Plans Under ObamaCareJan 28, 2015
The Congressional Budget Office now says ObamaCare will push 10 million off employer-based coverage, a tenfold increase from its initial projection. The "keep your plan" lie just gets bigger and bigger. The latest CBO report is supposed to be a big win for the Obama administration because the projected costs are 20% below what the CBO first projected in 2010. But the CBO report also shows that ObamaCare will be far more disruptive to the employer-based insurance market, while being far less ef ...

Romney/Ryan May Regret Fudging All The Details Of Their Plans.Sep 07, 2012
President Clinton alone gave enough numbers and specifics to provide quotes for almost any discussion that comes up. Obviously there was more than just his famous verbosity behind his hitting every single point of the GOP promises and every single point of the Dems' during his long speech. My big question is, when Governor Romney says he'll provide "lots of jobs," is he just keeping it and the rest of his plan simple for the unenquiring mind, or is he that determined not to reveal wha ...

Evaluating Company-offered Health Plans. U.S. NewsOct 08, 2012

A first-ever U.S. News analysis of nearly 6,000 health insurance plans marketed to individuals and families reveals that many of the consumers who enroll in these plans may confront budget-wrecking out-of-pocket costs that deplete their savings.   Large numbers of plans severely limit coverage for such services as prescription drugs, maternity coverage, men ...

Sharron Angle And Her Husband Are On Government Health Care PlansSep 29, 2010
Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle's staunch opposition to federal involvement in health care -- or pretty much everything, for that matter -- was contorted Tuesday with recent news that she and her husband receive government provided health care. From Tuesday's Politico Morning Score: Angle's campaign acknowledged to Nevada journalist Jon Ralston Monday that both the candidate and her husband receive health care from the federal government.
