Anyone know South Beach?

After living in SW Florida for some time, I have decided to visit South Beach Miami on my own. Cannot work out schedule with any friends. It will be a day trip for me - about 2-hour drive each way. I just want to walk on the beach and see the art deco buildings, maybe spend 3 or 4 hours there. I have Googled information but really can't find any specific about public parking. Am I going to have a hard time finding a place to park my car? Will it cost an arm and a leg? Just a clue or two about what to expect will ease my mind a bit. Miami Visitors Bureau says lots of public parking near beach. I would like to get as close to 1000 Ocean Drive as possible - I'm going to take the tour offered by the Miami Art Deco Preservation League. TIA for any responses.

[ In Reply To ..]there is a parking garage exactly where you want to be. I do not know exact address but as you are driving in on main drag, turn left onto Washington? or Lincoln, the road right before Ocean Dr. Garage on corner. I do not remember it being too pricy. We always parked there when spending time at beach. You will be fine. but they do get filled.
