Anyone familiar with BeautiControl stuff?

Posted: Mar 5, 2012

A friend of mine just signed up to sell BeautiControl products.  I'm not familiar with that line and wondered if anyone here has used or is using it.  I hate shelling out money for products unless I've heard pretty decent things about them, but I'm not adverse to trying new things.

TIA!

Cosmetic ratings - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
There is a very good website that has ratings of just about every cosmetic item known to man. Paula Begoun, aka The Cosmetic Cop, has been investigating their ingredients and what good they do for years and has gotten a lot of manufacturers to improve products and be honest about what is in them. www.beautipedia.com I should mention that she is biased against moisturizers that do not contain sunscreen, so be aware and factor that into consideration. You might not want sunscreen due to a sensitivity, for instance, so for you it would deserve a higher rating.

I will admit that I think the name BeautiControl is not appealing to me. It sounds so repressive. It does not fit with the image I have of myself. It sounds like they think my natural self is likely to get out of hand if it isn't plastered over or something. I get visions of chalky foundation in disaster colors that dries to a crust. I am sure they don't have anything like that, of course, but that drives me away. I prefer the more free spirit Philosophy, Urban Decay, and Smashbox.

If there is a Sephora near you, it is worth a trip. They have small ones in some JCPenney stores. You can try anything they have. The Sephora website is fun, too.

My girlfriend tried to sell that stuff about 5 years ago - sm

I tried a couple of things. I did not like anything! Full of harsh chemicals. I could not stand the smell of the stuff. I had another girlfriend who sold L'Bri at the same time, and I absolutely love that stuff. It is all natural, works amazing, and I have very bad skin, super sensitive, and I just cannot say enough about L'Bri.

So, anyway, the BeautiControl friend never made any money at it. Bad for her.

my sister told me about it. Love their funky store, lots of fun, I'd like to take home a big chunk of soap. Expensive though.

My niece introduced me to Lush. Love their website, too. I find that their products last a long time. I love using the solid shampoo bars. They're really cool!

Anyone Familiar With GPants?Jan 11, 2012
Hi all. I had posted earlier about a diaper debate. My friend who is due in May finished her baby shower registry and I saw that she wants to use gPants. I've heard of them and have practically memorized their website. I know they are available online or at Targets. Anyway, my friend only put on her list 3 gPants (one for each size) and 1 box of gCloth liners (flushable).  Has anyone used gPants? My understanding is the gPant and liners are all washable/reuseable and the refills are fl ...

Anyone Familiar With The Copper IUD?Aug 21, 2013
I'm 38 years old and got a copper IUD when my daughter was born September 2003, so next month it will be 10 years.  They are supposed to last 10 years.  Has anyone ever had one and if so, did it fall out at 10 years or keep going or what?  My mom got one, but hers NEVER came out and her GYN just left it in, so she is no help.   I'm concerned, because I start my period every month, like clock work on the 19th and today is the 21st with no period.  It wouldn ...

Anyone Familiar With Bunnies?Aug 22, 2013
My husband found a loose dwarf Siamese bunny that we, of course, took in.   Neither are of us are very familiar with the care of bunnies.  This one appears to be full-grown and only weighs maybe a pound or so, longish hair, and just adorable to watch hopping around investigating. We have 2 little dogs and not sure how they'll take to the bunny, so for the time being we have the bunny separated from them.   Has anyone here owned bunnies and familiar with their likes/dislike ...

Anybody Familiar With Bennington, VT?Apr 08, 2014
I'm considering moving to Vermont, the Bennington area, specifically, and wonder if anyone knows what kind of town it is to live in.  I'm thinking quality of life, like crime rates, pedestrian access, social activities.  Schools aren't an issue, my kids are grown (one may be moving with me).   I'll probably drive over there on a weekend.  It's only about 100 miles from where I live, but driving through a community doesn't really give you much of ...

In what is being called ‘the biggest hustle in human history,’ a special investigation has discovered numerous bogus claims on Barack Obama’s resume, including the outright lie that he was a ‘Constitutional scholar and professor.’ The claim turns out to be false. As investigators delve further into the background of Barack Obama, a disturbing picture is emerging of a man who is not who he claims to be.  The information the public has ...

Momentary Disorientation In Familiar SurroudingsSep 10, 2013
(Also initially posted in Prayer section)  Several months ago, I had a few episodes of becoming momentarily disoriented while driving a very familiar route.  I spoke with a psychologist about it, and he said if it happened again to take note of what was taking place right before.  I don't recall anything significant preceding those events.  It didn't happen again until this past Saturday.  My husband and I were going to a wedding, and I was driving.  ...

Email Scandal--Republicans Quite FamiliarAug 20, 2015
I have been wondering what the angle was on this email scandal witch hunt has been. I had forgotten the millions of emails, lost or deleted. Republicans really have no shame, and no filter. The Bush administration also lost 22 million emails. They just so happened to lose the emails from the architects of Bush’s torture policy. Within those 22 million lost emails were five million emails that were lost relating to the 2007 firing of eight U.S. Attorneys. The Bush administration denied ...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has become the chief attack dog against his co-religionist Mitt Romney, but on Wednesday that attack went even further when his official Senate office released a statement that attributed a quote to Mr. Romney, even though he said the exact opposite. Mr. Reid's release quoted the Republican presidential nominee's staff as telling the Boston Globe that Mr. Romney would "not honor deportation exemptions" that President Obama has granted under h ...

What Do You Think Of This - Scary Stuff If You Ask MeFeb 13, 2012
Before anyone toe-toes the source, the same exact interview was reported in four other sources (at least) and its the same wording in all sources. I think this is pretty scary that some poeple think this way.  It's an interview with Samuel Jackson and what he has to say.  Can't even copy and paste the wording as it could be banned.  He's one of the best actors of our time, but I sure have lost all respect for him and now am unsure if I care to watch any other movi ...

The so-called racist Republican justice of the peace who refused to perform an interracial marriage was really a lifelong democrat UNTIL 2008, when he switched parties. He was STILL a DEMOCRAT when he refused to do the ceremony and three other interracial marriages as well. The media ONLY got on this one when they thought they could say this guy was a racist republican. They ignored this story when he was a raaaaacist DEMOCRAT, which he was when he refused to do these ceremonies! How t ...

Anyone Heard Of This Stuff?Jun 18, 2013
I just moved into a new place a couple of months ago and haven't really gotten to know any of my neighbors except for a casual wave or "hello." This morning, one of my neighbors put some literature about a product she apparently sells on my door with a nice note to call her if I saw anything I'd like to sample. It's some skin care line called Votre Vu, supposedly all natural/organic and imported from France.   Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this stuff and ...

Someone Just Noticed That Trump Is Getting Stuff Aug 09, 2017
After weeks and months of fixating on tweets and Russia, someone in the press decided to have a look at what the Trump administration has been up to since January. Lo and behold, they discovered that it's getting a lot done. "Trump Has Quietly Accomplished More Than It Appears" reads the headline in the Atlantic. I picked up a book called Living More With Less.  It's full of tips and stories from Mennonites.  I've changed a few of my ways due to what I've read. I still have a loooooong way to go.  Right now I'm working on paring down my wardrobe.  If I got rid of the things I rarely wear, or never wear, or only wear because my favorite things are dirty, I'd have so much more room from n ...
