Anybody familiar with Bennington, VT?

I'm considering moving to Vermont, the Bennington area, specifically, and wonder if anyone knows what kind of town it is to live in.  I'm thinking quality of life, like crime rates, pedestrian access, social activities.  Schools aren't an issue, my kids are grown (one may be moving with me).  

I'll probably drive over there on a weekend.  It's only about 100 miles from where I live, but driving through a community doesn't really give you much of a real feel for the place.

I think there's a college there - yes, Bennington College. That's all I know.

Ben and Jerry's started in Burlington, Vermont. I live in South Burlington; not very familiar with Bennington, except for Bennington Battle Day. :)

I live very close to Bennington (live in NY) and my family and I visit often. Beautiful area with a lot of great stuff going on, however, it is expensive. Otherwise, excellent place to live!

My husband found a loose dwarf Siamese bunny that we, of course, took in.   Neither are of us are very familiar with the care of bunnies.  This one appears to be full-grown and only weighs maybe a pound or so, longish hair, and just adorable to watch hopping around investigating.
