My grandma had a saying -- Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without.
I picked up a book called Living More With Less.  It's full of tips and stories from Mennonites.  I've changed a few of my ways due to what I've read. I still have a loooooong way to go.  Right now I'm working on paring down my wardrobe.  If I got rid of the things I rarely wear, or never wear, or only wear because my favorite things are dirty, I'd have so much more room from not having overflowing laundry baskets all over the place.
I wore the same pair of jeans every day for just under two weeks one time, just to see how long I could go before they needed washing.  Using that method, couldn't you just imagine how much less clothing you'd need? I've done the same thing with shirts.  That's a little harder.  Pet hair seems to stick better to fabrics other than denim.  Two weeks is a little extreme, I know, but we work at home. Who cares?!
Kids get away with wearing their favorite outfits for weeks, why not adults?
