Yes, the generations before us have thought they were in the end times when the Church would be removed. Every generation can relate to the signs in the Bible. I do believe God wants every generation to feel this way, as it makes you live each day filled with hope in Christ as if His return is imminent, which in turn makes you strive to live a more Christ-like and Christ-centered life. Sort of keeps you on your toes.
However, many Christians get confused and see the events during the Tribulation as fitting with the scheme of things now. This is not true. The stage is being set, that's for sure, but the events that will happen during Tribulation will be catastrophic and will be 100 times worse than the floods, earthquakes, etc., we're witnessing now, which every generation has witnessed themselves. Hence, the reason every generation feels they're in the end times, which they are to a certain extent. We have been in the end times from the time of Jesus' ascension until the Church is removed (the church age). Every generation leaves an imprint for the final act.
As of this time, we have seen every prophecy come to pass except the very next event, which is Jesus removing the Church. The time span between the prophecies being written and then being fulfilled is remarkable.
Genesis 49:10 was written in 1440 B.C. and fulfilled in 5 B.C. Isaiah 53 was written in 700 B.C., fulfilled in A.D. 33. Daniel 2 and 7 were written in 530 B.C., which began in 605 B.C. and to be continued in the end times. Micah 5:2 written in 700 B.C.,fulfilled 5 B.C. Isaiah 40:3 written 700 B.C., fulfilled A.D. 30 (John the Baptist), Zechariah 9:9 written 520 B.C., fulfilled A.D. 33. Matthew 24:1-3 written A.D. 33, fulfilled A.D. 70. Matthew 24:9,14 written A.D. 33, which is being fulfilled throughout the current age.
The most remarkable prophecy is Daniel 9:24-26, which was written in 530 B.C. and fulfilled to the very day on March 30, A.D. 33. This was the triumphal entry of Jesus 483 years after a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, Messiah the Prince will come.
What are the odds of even one of these being fulfilled perfectly? These are just ten of the hundreds of biblical prophecies that could be cited.
The people you need to beware of are the ones who try to put a date on the rapture. The angels don't even know when this day will be. Only our heavenly Father knows. Most of these people are kooks, and all they are doing is deceiving. All I know is it will happen as fast as you can blink once.
Fulfilled prophecy proves the reliability and veracity of the Bible. It proves that Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be---the Son of God, God in human flesh. It also proves that the prophecies in the Bible that have yet to be fulfilled will be fulfilled just as literally and exactly as the ones that have already come to pass.
Prophecies in those generations had not yet come to pass. As of this time, we have seen every prophecy come to pass except the very next event, which is Jesus removing the Church.
