Good luck, progressives. I am done with these fools. They work too hard to convince people to do and believe things that are bad for the country. I don't need the stress or the reminder of how stupid people can be.

I stopped coming because all the libs were doing was pointing out negativity towards the cons. It was just bash, bash, bash for days and days so I stopped coming.

But, what you just said about the closed-minded cons, I see it with closed-minded libs.

You should look up the definitions of conservative - vs. liberal

If you aren't closed-minded and resistant to change, you can't be defined as a conservative and if you aren't broad-minded and open to change you can't be defined as a liberal. It's just a fact of life.

I don't think the site below swings one way or the other, but I do think it is a pretty accurate view of both parties. Of course there are going to be some variances in many of the categories listed for both sides (like I know some conservatives that don't think a fetus is a baby). But there's nothing on it about being closed-minded (no one party has the market cornered on that one), so please don't read it with a closed mind.

I think what goes wrong on this board is that people get frustrated (on both sides) and the personal attacks are just easier than getting into a real discussion. Maybe if we spent more time presenting our beliefs, listening to the beliefs of others, and then engaging in meaninful discussions we would understand each other better and be able to work better together. We can't expect our government to work together when we as a country can't.

IMHO it isn't worded very well, but it does give some basics. The lines aren't clear anymore.

It doesn't represent a definition of conservative or liberal though, only shows some generally accepted beliefs applied to each.

The point was conservatives are resistant to change and prefer to hang onto things already established and are described as closed-minded, while liberals are the opposite.

IMHO, republicans today are what democrats used to be. Both political parties, whether you like to admit it or not, have changed. You do have your die-hard nut jobs on both sides. However, there are conservatives, myself included, who would compromise on certain issues. I think there are closed minded individuals on both sides of the extreme. There are some on both sides who refuse to compromise or consider the other side's point of view. That is very obvious from the "discussions" on this board.

What I have given in the previous posts is the definition of conservative and liberal. I think people tend to think that being closed-minded and clinging to established things is bad. I'm not sure of any other reason the definition would be questioned.

I've seen cons and libs both be nasty on this board. It is definitely not one sided. Both sides can be childish, nasty, and rude.

You cannot blame one group for doing something that both sides do. Just like crats vs pubs....they both lie. They are both out for themselves and they both like to spend money all the while pointing the finger at the other party.

I think we all need to grow up a bit and open our eyes.

When someone doesn't share the same opinion as you they are called Sarah Palin lovers. Sarah Palin is so far from my mind. I don't like her and if she is on the TV I will mute it. I wish her and her family well, but she doesn't interest me. I don't know or care what she has to say. I don't even know what she believes in anymore because she is long gone from my mind, but whenever someone points out something you resort to calling them a Sarah Palin lover.

that I agree. Just because you believe in the same things someone else does doesn't mean you love/worship that person. You are displaying the same beliefs as Palin which would be why the poster said that.

I had to have an open abdominal procedure last year and then chemo. I am now okay, except for my beach ball middle because I have no muscle tone whatsoever. Thanks to all your messages below. Here's an update. We have a small bowl of food out for her. I just could not stand to wonder if she is starving. So now we know she isn't. She is still skiddish, but it warming up to us. She doesn't run unless we make a movement toward her. If we stand still and talk to her she will sit and watch us and not run.
