"Epic fail" in dictionary shows pic of Obama.

Posted: Jun 5, 2015

His agenda has been proven to be the destruction of the fabric of America. Glad I didn't vote for him and have that on my conscience.

Only thing for sure is that insurance companies - will NEVER lose money

[ In Reply To ..]
This issue has very little to do with ensuring healthcare for all and instead it is all about insurance companies covering their behinds and their BMWs' behinds.

We will pay, one way or another, for healthcare for everyone. The states can do it with the help of the federal government (medicaid expansion) or do it on their own. You can eliminate Obamacare, but fact is, the same health status of the same people live in each state, and they just present as complete indigent care, which the state ends up paying for....or is there some other plan in the works for unhealthy poor people?

The case the article is talking about is to destroy ACA subsidies, thus making it completely unaffordable (not the intent of the plan, so it is not really Obamacare's fail, but the Republican party fail).

Hovering over the rate-setting season is the specter of the King v. Burwell lawsuit currently before the Supreme Court. A ruling is expected in late June, and defeat for the White House would mean subsidies would be eliminated in at least 34 states that use the federal health insurance exchange. THAT WOULD THROW THE INSURANCE MARKETPLACE INTO CHAOS.

Republicans have no plan but to destroy. I do not see how their constituency can stand by that and many of their own will be crushed by this in the process. Very dangerous business indeed, when heading into election season. The timing had better be just right. Eliminate the law or the subsidies, get the hurrah, and hopefully get the votes counted before the people realize what Republicans have done to them. I don't think so.

How is the ACA to blame for insurance company rates? - you are using Obama as a scapegoat

[ In Reply To ..]
when the real issue is corporate greed. I voted for Obama and as someone with a congenital heart defect I am so very thankful for this ruling. You don't know what hell it is to lose your insurance and have to wait at A FULL YEAR to see a cardiologist because of a pre-existing condition.

That being said, I agree with the other poster about insurance companies. they are not going to lose a dime. I really wish they had made Medicare/Medicaid or state programs open to anyone who wants it, regardless of cost. Personally I have insurance through my husband's employer and still had to file bankruptcy because I can't pay what is left over after insurance. We shouldn't have our home threatened because I had an accident. It's a sad state of affairs that needs to change.

For one thing, Obamacare forces insurance companies to cover - things like prenatal care for all

[ In Reply To ..]
people, including women in their 60's, among others.

Meanwhile, the number of people age 55 and over who have joined the exchanges is 29% above forecasts. There are 1.1 young adult enrollees for every member age 55+. That young-to-old ratio was supposed to be 2.4-to-1.

Big government is sold to us based on intentionally unrealistic forecasts.
Prenatal care for women over 60 shouldn't - cost insurance companies
[ In Reply To ..]
very few getting pregnant over 60. Or do you suppose there are over 60s rushing to become mothers because it is now covered?
It forces insurance companies to cover for these king of things, - whether a person needs it or not. NM

Yeah, AND diabetes AND heart disease AND - many other ailments
[ In Reply To ..]
Those poor insurance companies, right.

To pick and choose these hot button coverage items to blame on their increases, which cost no more than many other ailments, is spurious.

Spreading the premium costs to all involved should NOT result in huge premium results. Don't be played.
What is the cost in covering, if they never have - to pay--or are you objecting
[ In Reply To ..]
to having coverage for the unknown. That's sort of the definition of insurance. Calculated risk so that you have coverage for a condition that might happen and then it provides coverage so that you can afford to take care of yourself.

It forces you to subsidize plans with birth control, abortion, - the name a few. NM

As premiums skyrocket, healthy people will drop out of the pool, cheaper to pay the "penalty&qu - (tax). Insurance companies go out of

Insurance companies are doing just fine - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
According to a recent report from the Commonwealth Fund, profits in the health insurance industry remain nearly the same as before the ACA was implemented.

Stock prices for the biggest insurance companies also remain healthy and, despite early fears centering on the requirement that insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to sick individuals, few insurers exited the marketplace.

So, if you read this article

https://www.mainstreet.com/article/obamacare-profits-health-insurance-companies-while-hurting-some-consumers

the example of a 64-year-old woman who prefers a higher deductible because she has some omniscient knowledge that she will never be sick. She is healthy now and wants a high deductible--what $5000. Now, we all know that is a drop in the bucket when you really are sick. Maybe she is wealthy or plans on dropping dead without seeing the hospital. We are going to pay for her someday if she refuses to get proper insurance.

Once again, it is insurance, a risk calculated payment to cover the unforeseen...and it has been deemed by law that since it will probably happen at some point, you need to carry a certain amount of insurance.

It is unfortunate that insurance companies are making so much money in this process.
We ALL pay for stuff we don't like, and many pay for stuff they'll never need. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't like abortion? Don't have one. I don't like paying for Viagra either or surgery for erectile dysfunction and things like that, but that's the way insurance works. I also don't like my tax dollars going to pay for certain wars, but I don't get to choose.

That's how taxes and insurance work and always have, nothing new. People with no children still have to pay school taxes for other people's kids. People who hate war still have to pay taxes that fund war. I could go on ad nauseam too.

Pretending like Obamacare is some novel new insurance idea that somehow foists something unheard of onto Americans is kind of a nonstarter when every single one of us has always paid for taxes and insurance in the exact same manner.
Perhaps the argument trying to be made here - is that you are healthy
[ In Reply To ..]
and don't want to pay for anything you don't think you need...right now...today...oops fell down in the front yard and broke my ankle...now I need it...and that hidden diabetes or heart condition popped up after the surgery to fix my ankle...please cover my conditions I didn't have yesterday, please, please.

These cases are EXACTLY what ACA - was created for

[ In Reply To ..]
May you enjoy good health and/or relief of your condition.

I have a MIL, who is 3rd strike breast cancer, waiting and wondering if she will lose her coverage (3 more long years before Medicare, unless, of course, she is disabled, or dying of cancer, then she can get Medicare---but it will be too late at that point to save her life). Interestingly, she was a bit Republican before she actually experienced ACA and started paying attention to what the Republican party wants to do to people. Personal responsibility is a wonderful thing, if it is attainable. It really sucks when it isn't....particularly if Republicans are in power.

Latest Obamacare ad features woman who claims ACA - saved her life, there's just one issue

[ In Reply To ..]
In a new ad for the Affordable Care Act, a woman named Julie Adams explains how the ACA saved her life:

“I’ll always remember how affordable health care saved my life,” said Julie Adams. “If Congress tries to take that away, I’ll remember that, too.”

The Community Catalyst Action Fundwrote about the ad, saying that “Americans have not had enough opportunity to hear personal stories like Julie’s” and claiming that Julie was able to catch her cancer early because of the ACA.

It went on to state that for 20 years before the enactment of the benefits of ACA she lived in fear getting sick and didn’t have insurance.

There is just one problem with that claim: Julie Adams had private insurance before the ACA benefits were enacted, according to The National Review. The proof? She posted about it on Facebook:

I finally went to the gastro doctor today after 10 years of extreme problems!! What a relief! We’re doing a colonoscopy and an ERCP to get to the bottom of my troubles. I waited forever because I didn’t have health insurance until this year. Thank you Obama…

The ACA wasn’t providing benefits until 2014, notes The National Review.

This poster said: "I have found trying to point this out to Obama devotees who are emotionally invested is fruitless."

Why is national health care a good thing for those 65 and older yet such a horrible government takeover for those 1-day-old to 64-year-old Americans? It's a mystery, but that's the conservative rhetoric for you. LOL.

It is equally "fruitless" to explain the advantages of national health care in any form to GOP and Tea Party Obama hater devotees who are emotionally invested and obsessed with making Obama a 1-term president ("Romney will win in a landslide" epic fail -- LOL) and blocking anything and everything the POTUS states has tried to do since day 1 in office. There is no compromise with their obsession to undermine the POTUS on every single issue.

They better hope the SCOTUS rules in Obama's favor later this month or they can watch the fallout of the decision divide their party even further while states get very creative in undoing the massive damage the GOP has done to the citizens of America...... all for partisan politics.

economy to work is to be like Germany. They are technically a Social Market Economy (Sozialmarktwirthschaft). It has to do with Germans being very disciplined and hard working, not with 93 million unemployed. Everyone is putting something into the pot so to speak and has skin in the game.
Why would you include children and retired people in a work force computation? - sm

Darn those millions and millions of baby boomers who have retired and those children and young adults going to grade school, high school, and college instead of entering the work force as children. LOL.

Having insurance and having Affordable Care - are 2 different things

[ In Reply To ..]
And whether you like it or not, the ACA does provide Affordable Care for someone like Julie Adams, whereas her previous insurance policy would have bankrupted her had she claimed on it. That sound good to you?

Everybody who moans about how great everything was before invariably has never used that "great" and affordable policy that was affordable to them. Because back in the good old days insurance companies were allowed to pull every fast one in the book to dump you, cut you off, add costs if you did have the audacity to claim for a significant illness (sort of like how the MTSOs are shamelessly now trying every trick in the book to nickle and dime us to minimum wage or plain out of a job).

The premiums might have been somewhat affordable before, but the actual health care would never have been, hence so many people being bankrupted (and still, unfortunately) by medical bills. The insurance companies are still trying, but at least the ACA has made it more difficult for them to deny or gouge health care.

It doesn't matter what insurance she had before. Your very article linked goes on:

"However, a spokesperson for the group that made the ad rebuts the claim that the ad is misleading. The National Review explains Julie did have insurance but there was more to the story, according to the spokesperson:

“The plan Julie purchased was too expensive for her to keep long-term (more than double what she pays now), and she really bought it as a patch knowing she would try to apply for affordable coverage through the ACA,” says Kathy Melley of Community Catalyst Action Fund.

“In January of 2014, Julie’s health coverage through the ACA kicked in and about six months later that year she was diagnosed with cancer."

Anyone have a policy with an MTSO? Good luck with that. Insurers have now turned to high deductibles and lots of "cost-sharing" and moaning to the press about how hard it is so they can still keep the lion's share of their profits.

You ever see how much any of their CEOs make? Why is it okay to make such a profit in healthcare?
