Winners and losers in health care plan
Posted: Mar 9, 2017
The biggest losers in the Republican health care plan are those who need insurance the most - over 60 and making $20,000 per year.
;
Just give them time to make it even - harder on people

You have some of those republicans who don't want any credits and just want to go back to the republican way, insurance companies charging whatever they want and lots of people without insurance. We all lose with this plan. Those who don't want insurance go to the ER and we pay for it. It's the republican way.
I want to know where it is in this plan where everybody has insurance and it will be cheaper, as Trump said. Kind of went back on that, didn't he? He thinks this is a great plan.
I think he realized it was way above his head! - anonymouse

He is relieved that Paul Ryan "saved the day" and came up with this plan so Trump doesn't have to come up with anything. Remember - it is way more complicated than he thought. I'm sure the republicans, like Chaffetz, will say that those old people need to get off their you know whats and find a damn job and give up all of those luxuries they have been enjoying, like iphones and whatnot. Like the elderly at that income level have any luxuries. Just wait until Ryan gets his sweaty little hands on Medicare. His smirk ought to be something to behold once he guts it!
Yea, my stomach turned just seeing the - Ryan smirk for what they have so far

The pubs are getting what they wanted apparently. Unfortunately we will all suffer for it.
Not true, most "pubs" I know dislike Ryan and we are - not getting what we wanted.

We want to repeal Obamacare lock, stock and barrel and then go after specific fixes to the system, first of which should be allowing interstate sales of health insurance plans. Then take a look at portability issues regarding pre-existing conditions.
But we all knew that if Obama was reelected his monstrosity would be so rooted in this country that we could never get rid of it. It is the herpes of all government programs. It drives up the cost of everything, including medical devices which are taxed.
It seems that enough pubs wanted it - to push it through one step

How is the ACA the "herpes" of all government programs? Apparently you are not one of those whom it benefited. It allowed millions of people to have health insurance that couldn't before. Whether you remember or not, it was horrible before ACA.
I am one of the people who would benefit, but I chose - another route. I also don't run to the

doctor for every little ailment. My insurance is primarily major medical. I pay cash and get a 40-60% discount. Since ACA, the cost for me has skyrocketed as a cash payer.
I don't look at govt programs as how they can help me. I look at things long term. If America wants single payer (govt) then we should be talking about that, not acting like we are still a free market republic, which we are not.
There are doctors who are only accepting cash now. I suspect more will be popping up.
We can't talk single payer because pubs - don't want that.

I would love to catch up with the rest of modern civilization and have single payer.

at her hospital and at the other Munich hospitals and how it is unsustainable. Clinics cannot handle the number of migrant medical emergencies, so they are starting to send everything to the main hospitals.
Many Muslims are refusing treatment by female staff, and we women are now refusing to go among those migrants!
Relations between the staff and migrants are going from bad to worse. Since last weekend, migrants going to the hospitals must be accompanied by police with K-9 units.
If they receive a prescription to the pharmacy, they suddenly learn they have to pay cash. This leads to unbelievable outbursts.
So the police are not just guarding the clinics and hospitals, but also the large pharmacies.
We ask openly where are all those who welcomed the migrants in front of TV cameras with signs at train stations? Yes, for now, the border has been closed, but a million of them are already here and we will definitely not be able to get rid of them.
Until now, the number of unemployed in Germany was 2.2 million. Now it will be at least 3.5 million. If this continues and Germany re-opens its borders, I am going home to the Czech Republic. Nobody can keep me here in this situation, not even for double the salary back home.

Obama told him he should "prioritize health care" and cut spending on things like cable, cell phone, and other things to afford insurance.

2 wrongs don't make a right. Let us all live in the present moment now - republicans just want to repeal the Affordable Care Act lock, stock, and barrel because it came from Obama. They want to wipe anything he did, good or bad, off the face of history. I don't really care except the republicans have nothing "better" to replace it with. Everyone keeps screeching that the Affordable Care Act premiums are going sky-high and the deductibles are through the roof. What makes them think that it would not be worse right now without the Affordable Care Act???? Around 2005 or 2006 - long before Obama - I worked for a customer service company managing medical and pharmacy benefits for medical insurance companies. That is when these high deductible plans came to being. The insurance plans were using them to make more profit and people were flabbergasted. This would probably be much worse without the Affordable Care Act as many more people have been able to afford insurance than ever before, but now we will be going back to what we had before - the sick not able to afford coverage and going to the emergency rooms and not paying their bill and the rest of us paying more for care and insurance. This is so the CEOs of the hospitals and the insurance plans can live in the lap of luxury! I guess some people just don't care that health care should be considered a human right and would prefer those "other people" that have medical issues - that are not their fault - to just die off and leave us to our happy lives?
Agree with Anonymous completely. ACA does not look so bad now - Bottom line. Thanks Trump. sm

I don't want to talk about him, look at him or hear about him. The utter destruction he did to this country on so many fronts is just unspeakable. The way he turned people into liberal progressive zombies is terrifying.
Allowing interstate sales of health insurance - plans would solve this problem.

Also, because of regulations the supply of doctors has been artificially limited while the aging population is growing.
Maybe we should be loosening regulations that prevent doctors from entering certain fields and prevent paraprofessionals from doing things that only licensed doctors can now do.
I've noticed more and NP's and PA-C's doing more and more.
No, it would - NOT

Say you live in California and you choose to purchase health insurance from some company in North Dakota. You will probably end up with some lousy insurance that doesn't meet anybody's standards, you're throwing your money away. This is just a ruse to make you think you have a choice!
