What Obama didn’t say: Address skips over debt, entitlement crisis

Maybe if I don't talk about it, they'll think this crisis has gone away.

Neither did Joni, Rick, or Carlos. Cruz devoted 1 second to the debt - and zero entitlement "crisis"

I guess he was too rattled after he flubbed his first response attempt and had to start over. He was so unimpressed with himself he had the video removed from his site. See Link.

Now Rand did mention the debt, but nothing about how the GOP had to back down from the government shutdown, eat crow and raise the debt ceiling after they got done throwing their tantrums in 2013. That's probably why the other guys decided to skip that subject all together. He did, however, mention welfare....CORPORATE welfare, that is: "We will not cut one penny from the safety net until we’ve cut every penny from corporate welfare!"...but no mention of an entitlement "crisis."

That's about it. Why give only one awkward GOP SOTU response when five will do such a better job of showing just how disarrayed their "message" is?

It's not up to "Joni, Rick, or Carlos" to talk about the state of the union. The POTUS is supposed to do that. Guess you have no defense for that. Probably because there isn't any.

"It's not up to..Joni..." Actually, yes it is. There are reasons for the opposition party's response to the State of the Union, to counter it's political foe's agenda and state their own. This has been a tradition back to perhaps the 60's. Just an observation, more and more members of each party are coming up with their own independent responses, I personally think to keep their names and faces out there for later elections.
